Abstract

The era of disruption has transformed the landscape of the television broadcasting industry in Indonesia, forcing it to adapt to the digital ecosystem in order to remain relevant. This study aims to analyze the existence of TVRI NTB in the era of disruption through the processes and forms of media convergence implemented. This study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive methods; data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis conducted with TVRI management, the news department, and the technical department. The results of this study indicate that TVRI NTB utilizes digital multiplatforms to disseminate its broadcast content to reach various age segments. In addition to analog/digital frequencies, TVRI NTB uses platforms such as Live Streaming (YouTube), social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok), its website, and the Klik TVRI NTB app. This use of multiplatforms is part of the shifting media consumption culture that continues to be disrupted.  In disseminating content, TVRI NTB uses multiple platforms in accordance with the media divergence model to reach audiences who are not bound by time or place. Despite facing several challenges, TVRI NTB remains capable of maintaining its role as a public broadcasting media. The implementation of adaptive and innovative media divergence strategies is a key factor in maintaining TVRI NTB’s existence amidst the disruption of the broadcasting industry.            Keywords: Disruption, Broadcast Media, TVRI NTB, Divergence.

Abstract

This article examines the tension between the professed obedience of Salafi Islamic groups in Indonesia (often labelled “conservative” or “Wahabi”) to the legitimate ruler (Ulil Amri) and their rejection of Law No. 52 of 2009 on Population Development and Family Development, together with its family-planning (Keluarga Berencana/KB) programme. Using doctrinal-normative legal research complemented by conceptual analysis, the study reads this tension through two lenses: the legalist theory of law associated with Han Feizi, which treats enforceable law backed by a capable ruler as the basis of social order, and the constitutional framework of the 1945 Constitution and Pancasila. The article presents the groups’ own position in their terms their distinction between birth limitation (tahdid al-nasl), which they reject, and birth spacing (tanzim al-nasl), and their reliance on a pronatalist reading and the Lajnah Daimah fatwa alongside the competing view that family planning is permissible, as affirmed by the MUI, Nahdlatul Ulama, and Muhammadiyah. It argues that the rejection sits in tension with the constitutional duty of equal submission to law (Article 27) and with the groups’ own doctrine of obedience, but that the category is internally diverse and that any state response is bounded by the constitutional freedoms of religion, expression, and association. The study concludes that, rather than the coercive control a strict legalist logic would imply, a constitutionally constrained approach combining law enforcement with dialogue and civic education is more defensible. The contribution of these groups to demographic trends is treated as a hypothesis requiring further empirical study.

Abstract

The Belangar tradition is a cultural heritage practiced by the Sasak community in Lombok, reflecting a syncretism between Islamic values and local wisdom. This study aims to examine the role of Belangar in strengthening social solidarity and aligning religious values with local culture, employing the theory of religious-cultural syncretism and Durkheim's theory of collective ritual as the epistemological foundation for reading the relationship between ritual practice and social cohesion. Unlike previous studies on Belangar, which tend to be descriptive, this research offers novelty by exploring the internal tensions between Belangar practices and more puritanical religious views, as well as critically analyzing the adaptation of this tradition in the digital era. Utilizing a qualitative approach and case study methodology, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentary analysis. The findings indicate that Belangar serves not only as a religious ritual but also as a platform for enhancing social bonds within the community, involving various social strata, including the youth, who now leverage social media to promote this rich and meaningful tradition. The results depict the adaptation of the Belangar tradition in the face of modernization, where the use of digital technology helps maintain the relevance of local culture. This research underscores the importance of cultural education to ensure the continuity of local values in a modern context. As a symbol of unity and social concern, Belangar reflects the dynamics between culture and religion in the lives of the Sasak people.
