Abstract

National chili demand continues to increase, but productivity at the farmer level remains low due to attacks by the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci Genn.) virus. Benai Kecil Village, Benai District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau, is a horticultural center with low chili productivity (4–5 tons/ha), far below the potential of commonly used superior varieties. This community service activity aims to improve farmers' knowledge and skills in chili cultivation by initiating the use of the superior virus-resistant Neno variety. The program was implemented for five months with stages of socialization, field practice, mentoring, monitoring, evaluation, and follow-up. The results of the activity indicated that farmers improved their understanding and skills in chili cultivation techniques, including seeding, soil cultivation, maintenance, and pest and disease control. The evaluation showed that the Neno chili variety has the potential to be developed because it is adaptive to dynamic climate change and effectively reduces the risk of curly virus attacks. In addition, the use of virus-resistant varieties can also support environmentally friendly pest and disease control. This program demonstrates that the development of the superior Neno variety has the potential to be a sustainable strategy for increasing chili production while simultaneously strengthening food security and farmer welfare.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to investigate the influence of Sustainability Education, Campus Sustainability, and Environmental Sustainability on Entrepreneurship for Sustainability among university students. It also examines the moderating roles of Sustainability Competencies and Awareness of Green Accounting in strengthening or weakening these relationships, providing a more comprehensive understanding of the factors that promote sustainable entrepreneurship in higher education. Method: A quantitative research design with a survey approach was employed. The participants consisted of 753 students from Universitas Riau, Indonesia, selected using a convenience sampling technique. Primary data were collected through an online questionnaire, and the proposed model was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0 to evaluate both direct and moderating effects among the variables. Results: The findings show that Sustainability Education, Sustainability Competencies, and Awareness of Green Accounting positively and significantly influence Entrepreneurship for Sustainability. Sustainability Competencies and Awareness of Green Accounting also strengthen the effects of other variables, while Campus Sustainability and Environmental Sustainability do not have significant direct effects. Moderation analysis indicated positive interactions for Sustainability Education and negative interactions for Campus Sustainability and Environmental Sustainability. Novelty: The novelty lies in integrating Sustainability Competencies and Awareness of Green Accounting as both direct predictors and moderating variables in explaining Entrepreneurship for Sustainability. This model offers a more comprehensive framework for promoting sustainable entrepreneurship in higher education.

Abstract

According to data from the Outlook of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, a pineapple surplus is projected to reach 789.03 thousand tons in 2025 (Center for Agricultural Data and Information Systems, Ministry of Agriculture, 2023). High pineapple production without adequate downstream processing may lead to oversupply, short shelf life, price decline, and increased agricultural waste. One of the downstreaming efforts has been implemented by the “Nenas Berduri” (Ponari) Group in Rimbo Panjang Village, Kampar Regency, through pineapple syrup production. However, the group faced several key issues: low extraction yield due to manual equipment, absence of standardized operational procedures, and limited understanding of proper production techniques. This community empowerment program aimed to enhance production capacity and product quality through the introduction of processing technology, the development of standard operating procedures, and production training. The results showed an increase in production capacity from 20–30 bottles to 80–90 bottles per month, a reduction in extraction time from 5–6 hours to less than 1 hour per batch, and all group members were able to independently operate the juicing machine and apply the SOPs correctly. This activity contributed to improving production efficiency and group self-reliance, strengthening local MSME capacity, and supporting the sustainability of pineapple syrup as a regional flagship product.

Abstract

This community service program aims to improve farmers' knowledge and skills in cultivating chili plants and preventing geminivirus infection, a major constraint in production. The activity was carried out through outreach activities covering the stages of land cultivation, virus infection prevention techniques, whitefly population control as a vector, land clearing of weeds that are hosts of geminivirus, sanitation of infected plants, and proper pesticide use. In addition, participants were also introduced to the use of chili varieties resistant to the yellow geminivirus as an alternative sustainable solution. The results of the activity showed an increase in farmers' understanding of healthy cultivation strategies and integrated pest control, with an average score increasing from 45% to 85%, with the vector control aspect increasing from 30% to 90%. This outreach is expected to reduce the level of virus infection and increase chili productivity.

Abstract

Companies in Indonesia have faced challenges in balancing sustainability and profitability, with the optimization of intellectual capital emerging as a new perspective for creating competitive advantage. The research aims at examining the impact of Intellectual Capital and Corporate Sustainability Performance on Corporate Financial Performance. The secondary data was obtained from the sustainability and annual reports of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (2018–2020). Multiple regression analyses were conducted with SPSS 24. The results indicated that the environmental and social dimensions of sustainability performance significantly influenced financial performance, while intellectual capital and the economic dimension showed no significant impact. These findings highlighted the importance of managing sustainability and intellectual capital to achieve a balance between sustainability and profitability in the manufacturing sector. This research is limited by a small number of variables and a short observation period, requiring broader future research.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of profitability, solvency, firm size, outsider ownership, and auditor’s firm reputation towards timeliness of financial reporting at property and real estate companies listed on the indonesian stock exchange period 2016-2019. The data used in this research ini secondary data, namely from annual financial reports. These samples were obtained by purposive sampling method, using several criteria in order to obtain a sample of 24 companies and measure the timeliness of financial reporting with the dummy variables. Hypothesis testing is done by logistic regression analysis with SPSS ver. 26.0. The result of this research provides evidence that the profitability have a influences on timeliness of financial reporting. However there is no evidence that solvency, firm size, company age, outsider ownership, and auditor’s firm reputation have influence on timeliness of financial reporting.
