Abstract

Banyuwangi Regency and Buleleng Regency directly border the Bali Strait, which connects the islands of Java and Bali. As border regions included in the integrated tourism development area, both have high tourism potential and have experienced an increase in the number of tourists in recent years. However, the growth of the tourism sector has not been followed by a proportional increase in the realization of local own-source revenue (PAD). In addition, the contribution of tourism sector revenue to PAD in these two regions remains low, with an average contribution of only 0.68% of the total PAD in Banyuwangi Regency and 1.13% in Buleleng Regency. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the number of domestic tourists, the number of international tourists, the number of hotels, and the number of restaurants on local own-source revenue in Banyuwangi and Buleleng Regencies during the period 2009–2023. This study uses local own-source revenue (Y) as the dependent variable and the number of domestic tourists (X1), number of international tourists (X2), number of hotels (X3), and number of restaurants (X4) as the independent variables. The data used are secondary data obtained from publications by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Banyuwangi Regency, Buleleng Regency, East Java Province, and Bali Province, as well as the official websites of the Tourism Offices of East Java and Bali Provinces. The study employs multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS version 26. The results of the study indicate that the number of domestic tourists has no significant effect on PAD in Banyuwangi Regency but has a significant effect in Buleleng Regency. The number of international tourists does not have a significant effect on PAD in either Banyuwangi or Buleleng. The number of hotels has a significant effect on PAD in both regencies. The number of restaurants significantly affects PAD in Banyuwangi Regency but not in Buleleng Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to identify leading and non-leading economic sectors, analyze shifts in economic sectors, classify the position of Grobogan Regency within regional development typology, and measure the influence of basic sectors on regional economic growth. The methods used in this research include Location Quotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), Shift Share, Klassen Typology, and simple linear regression. This is a quantitative study employing statistical data analysis to describe the regional economic conditions and dynamics. The data used are secondary data in the form of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Grobogan Regency and Central Java Province for the period 2019–2023, obtained from the publications of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The analysis results indicate that several basic sectors consistently contribute to economic growth, while some sectors have experienced a shift in their roles. Based on the Klassen Typology, Grobogan Regency is mostly classified within the quadrants of rapidly developing and underdeveloped regions. Furthermore, regression results show that basic sectors have a significant influence on regional economic growth. These findings can serve as a reference for more targeted and sector-based regional development planning.

Abstract

Economic growth is the main indicator for a country's economic health, where Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) plays an important role in boosting economic growth. ASEAN member countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia, have introduced various policies to facilitate FDI to encourage economic growth. This study aims to analyze the causal relationship between Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and CO2 emissions in ASEAN, and vice versa, namely the relationship between CO2 emissions and FDI. The study was conducted in three ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia) with an analysis period from 1990 to 2022. The method used in this study is Vector Autoregression (VAR) followed by the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results show that based on the Granger Causality Test, no causal relationship between FDI and CO2 emissions was found in the three countries studied. However, based on VECM analysis, it was found that the CO2 variable has an influence on FDI in Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia.
