Abstract

Innovation capabilities of employees was considered as the main strategic activity of administered as a means of objective assessment of the individual performance of various professionals in MOI UAE. This study first aimed to identify whether employees’ innovation capabilities in MOI would exhibit better performance in UAE. Secondly, this study also aimed to identify the theoretical issues related with cultural and technological diversity with individual innovation capabilities and gave the ways to improve their performance in MOI UAE setting. This study proposes a conceptual framework for understanding innovation process and knowledge management aspects of innovation capability which would influence individual performance. The conceptual framework includes cultural diversity as mediating variable in the effect of innovation capability which would influence individual performance. The conceptual carry out through empirical review of literature and development of hypothesis. The adaption of well-structured questionnaire used in this study. The study also validates the proposed conceptual framework using a second-order confirmatory factor analysis technique, namely, structural equations modelling, with the data collected from 607 followers from 6 MOI departments in the UAE.

Abstract

Total quality management (TQM) is importance management tool for every industry to compete in global market. However, based on previous TQM literature reported that ambiguous or mixed relationship between TQM and business performance and lack of examining moderator and mediator in previous work. Furthermore, there lack of study of Total preventive maintenance (TPM) as mediator. Therefore, it is important to obtain successful TQM paradigm. TPM acted as a prominent paradigm to improve the manufacturing performance to gain further competitive advantage. TPM focused on trying to on-going and minimize the error of production; Maintenance emphasize on maintain autonomously, equipment by production workers, in good condition. Hence, the purpose of this study is to mediator effect of TPM between TQM and business performance. Based on Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) and the foreign companies’ directory list in Malaysia, 1500 companies have been selected for final survey. Of the 1500 surveys, 327 surveys, which were equivalent to 21.8% response rate, were returned. The result shows that TPM has been proved as partial mediator between TQM and business performance with indirect effect 0.25. The result will help manufacturing companies in improving TQM practices through TPM as mediator to compete in global market.

Abstract

Green Factory is a management tool for eliminate environment burden such as waste, chemical and pollution. Economic development grew too fast has effected major impact to environment. Carbon dioxide, loss of biodiversity, degradation of natural resources, global warming, ozone layer depletion and deforestation have effected on the environment. Based on world statistics, Malaysia has produced 29 million tonnes carbon dioxide and ranked 26th (0.66%) of the 215 countries in the world. 110 world leaders including Malaysia has agreed to work for reducing carbon dioxide gas in the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit 2009. Five main criteria for Green Factory have been identified; (1) Solar power generation systems, (2) Fuel cells system, (3) Cogeneration systems, (4) Air conditioning units and (5) Recycling system. A study was conducted to manufacturing companies that adopted Green Factory practices to assess its their green practices for minimizing environmental problems. The samples were 300 companies in Malaysia. Finally, 20% response rate has been received, with 60 respondents. Based on descriptive result, recycling shows the highest level of practices, followed by solar power cogenerations system, air conditioning units and fuel cells system. This study result shows Green Factory has significant relationship with environment performance (r=0.684, P
