Abstract

--- Industry 4.0 is emerging as one of the most modern supply chain and manufacturing practices. Unfortunately, there are many challenges at organizational, legal, strategic and technological fronts which are barring implementation of industry 4.0 in manufacturing sector of Thailand. Such challenges can potentially be coped through supply chain agility and subsequently supply chain resilience as both provide enough sustainability to overall organization that can take care of implementation of Industry 4.0. This study has been conducted to determine the impact of supply chain agility on organizational, legal, strategic and technological challenges in the way of implementation of industry 4.0. Furthermore, mediating role of supply chain resilience has also been checked in relationship between agility and challenges. A questionnaire survey has been used to collect the data from Thailand’s manufacturing sector employees and the same data was then analyzed through structural equation modeling for hypotheses testing. Results have interpreted significant impact of agility on challenges in implementation of Industry 4.0 while mediating role of resilience have also been flagged significant in respective relationship. Novelty in this research was testing agility and resilience as predictors to resolve challenges for Industry 4.0. This study will help different sectors of economy in a successful transition towards Industry 4.0.

Abstract

The main purpose of the current study is to investigate he relationship between product and process strategies and the service performance namely delivery performance and the support performance. In addition to that the study has also examined the mediating role of supply chain integrations namely supplier integration and customer integration in the relationship between product and process strategies and the service performance. In this research, Product Modularity is the specific product and Process Modularity is the process strategy, which has been selected. The performance of service is influenced by these two strategies in a direct and indirect way. The focus of the study is on the evaluation of the level to which the supplier (upstream) as well as customer (downstream) integration mediates the impact of process strategies on performance of services. The study is among the pioneering studies on the issues. So, current study has used SEM-PLS as statistical tool to answer the research questions raised in this study and research objectives envisaged in the current study. The findings of the current study have provided support to with the hypothesized results. This study will be helpful for policymakers and researchers in examining the link between product and process strategies and the service performance namely delivery performance and the support performance.

Abstract

The foremost objective of the current study is examining the trade-off between environmental performance and cost performance in the presence of the sustainable supply chain. In particular the study has examined the impact of sustainable supply chain implantations namely sustainable procurement, sustainable distribution, sustainable production and sustainable reserve logistic on the cost and environmental performance. The study has broached the argument that the financial performance and profitability of a firm can be enhanced using SSCM activities or not. Research is limited in the context of developing economies. However, extensive research is available on developed economies. It is considerable to know about the influence of SSCM initiatives on the production sustainability in the developing countries. There is need to understand the relation between performance and SSCM initiatives among the firms in developing regions including Indonesia. There is need for creating a balance between economy and environment in these economies. Employing the survey-based methodology, the PLS-SEM technique is used to test the hypothesized relationships. So, current study has used PLS-SEM as statistical tool to answer the research questions raised in this study and research objectives envisaged in the current study. The findings of the study have provided support to the theoretical foundation and proposed hypothesis of the current study. Current study will be helpful for policymakers and practitioners in understanding the issues related to sustainable supply chain implementation and supply chain performance. In author knowledge this is among very few pioneering studies on this issue.

Abstract

The story which was started with the concept of carbon free city has now obtained its maturity with the new need for smart cities. Life of such smart cities can only get oxygen from efficient supply chain practices from business point of view. Because the end outcome of such smart cities is to achieve sustainability. This research is based on supply chains of manufacturing units located in smart cities that how different practices like instrumental, interconnected and intelligent supply chain have their impact on sustainability performance in mediating role of supply chain flexibility. Respondents were sampled from manufacturing industry of Thailand and especially those firms which were located in such cities which have aimed to become smart cities in next five years. Middle-level management was surveyed through questionnaire and data was then analyzed on SPSS and AMOS. All dimensions or practices of smart city supply chain found positively related with sustainability performance and results also flagged significant positive mediating role of supply chain flexibility in respective relationships. This study’s originality can be found in inclusion of supply chain flexibility as mediator which also has implications for industry and literature.

Abstract

Thailand is considered one of the largest exporters and producers of foods and agricultural products, and play an important role in the economic development of Thailand. However, food industry produces a high income for the country. Its supply chain system still has some problems among different parties. There are lot of factors which effect the performance of food industry’s chain. It is difficult to choose one success factor to be improved since improving one factor could lead to a positive or even a negative impact on another factor. The study purpose is to explore the relationship between supply chain capabilities and information sharing towards the business performance. The data was drawn from 220 food companies in Thailand and the measurement scale was validated using structural equation modelling (SEM). The findings show that supplies chain management capabilities have positive and significant association with business performance. Similarly, information sharing also have positive and significant association with business performance and also has mediating impact. Thus, proposed model could also provide causal-effect determinants affecting supply chain performance for enhance the supply chain strategies to meet supply chain goals and also to guide decision makers with the pertaining information for implement such strategies.
