Abstract

The ASEAN Economic Community, commonly referred to as AEC (ASEAN Economic Community) in 2015, is a form of cooperation between ASEAN member countries by integrating the economic sector in a single market in the Southeast Asia region. This is also an answer to investors' questions regarding the accessibility of investment destination countries, including legal certainty. This study aims to analyze the effect of law enforcement on economic growth. The role of the government in law enforcement is expected to be able to support the economic development of a country. The data used in this study include economic growth, the rule of law, voice and accountability, foreign direct investment, employment, and the initial development of 10 ASEAN member countries for the 2007-2018 period. The method used is panel data regression and testing the significance of the model. The method used is the Random Effect Model. The results show that the rule of law, foreign direct investment, labor, and initial growth have a significant and positive effect on economic growth in ASEAN. In contrast, voice and accountability significantly impact ASEAN economic growth in the 2007-2018 period.

Abstract

The incoming foreign direct investment will bring technology, new innovations, increase in capital, create jobs that will absorb unemployment, and improve the quality of human resources so that investment is considered important in accelerating economic growth in developing countries. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of political stability and the Corruption Perception Index on Foreign Direct Investment in Southeast Asia. This study uses secondary data obtained from the World Bank, and Transparency International. The method used is a panel data model with a total cross-section of 10 (ten) countries in Southeast Asia and a time-series in 2010-2019. The research was conducted in 10 countries due to Timor-Leste because the country officially became a member of Southeast Asia in 2011. The research method used in this study is the Random Effect Model. The results showed that the independent variables of political stability, corruption perception index (GPA), and economic growth (EG) each had a significant and positive effect on foreign direct investment in Southeast Asia, while inflation and exchange rates had no effect on foreign direct investment. in Southeast Asia 2010-2019 period, ceteris paribus.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to estimate the number of vehicles with Lampung outside police numbers operating in Lampung and to find out the public perceptions of the Lampung Provincial Government's policy through Local Regulations Number 2 of 2011, regarding the increase in vehicle ownership transfer fees (BBNKB) from 10 percent to 12.5 percent, along with willingness to pay from the policy. This research applies survey method in Bandar Lampung city with the population of the people who are the owner of new motor vehicles  including the four-wheeled and two-wheeled which were purchased starting in 2012 outside the province of Lampung. The sampling method used is cluster sampling, meaning that the population is divided into several clusters. As the population of vehicles which have no BE police number operating in Lampung is unknown, then the number of the sample is set to 100 respondents.Based on the result of the survey, it is unravelled that there are 18 percent of cars which have non-BE plate number operating in Lampung, and for motorcycles, there are only 4 percent. Another finding shows the fact that respondents buy vehicles outside the province of Lampung  because the price difference is quite significant and they do not do second BNKB in Lampung Province in accordance with its operational area. From the willingnes to pay, all respondents approve that if the rate of BBNKB decreases back to 10 percent,  most of them will return to buy a new vehicle in Lampung due to the fact that there will be smaller price difference between the price of a new car purchased in Lampung Province and new car purchased outside Lampung Province. BBNKB tariff reduction will provide opportunities for trade of vehicles in Lampung Province to be more competitive, thus, they can develop better. Moreover, there will be more exciting investments and more job fields in the automotive sector.JEL Classification: H20, H21, H24Keywords: BBNKB Tariff, Public Perception, Willingness to Pay

Abstract

abroad and domestically. Incoming investment is affected by a country's daytime strength. Widespread investment encourages more competition and corrupt practices as many investors want to reduce the bureaucracy they face. However, in the investment market a high level of corruption also makes a country's economy unattractive. This study aims to analyze the effect of a country's competitiveness on the entry of Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN. The variables used in this study are foreign investment, competitiveness, Corruption Perception Index, and political stability. The analytical method used is the Random Effect Model. This shows that state power is able to encourage direct foreign investment in a positive direction, as well as the Corruption Perception Index where the handling of the level of corruption will encourage the entry of Foreign Direct Investment. Political stability in this study does not have a significant effect, meaning that political shocks do not interfere with the entry of Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN in the period 2010 to 2020.

Abstract

The decline in economic growth, which is offset by the increasing number of people and the lack of availability of jobs, has caused more people to be affected and involved in non-crime activities based on the crime rate (CR). This study aims to analyze the effect of crime rates on provincial economic growth in Indonesia in 2011-2020. The variables used are economic growth, crime rates, investment, labor, and initial growth. The method used is the Fixed Effect Model. The results show that the higher the crime rate impacts the decline in economic growth, further increase in investment and labor will encourage economic growth. In contrast, the initial growth shows that the economy of poor provinces grows slower than rich provinces.

Abstract

The model of Vector Autoregressive (VAR) with cointegration is able to be modified by Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). Because of its simpilicity and less restrictions the VECM is applied in many studies. The correlation among variables of multivariate time series also can be explained by VECM model, which can explain the effect of a variable or set of variables on others using Granger Causality, Impulse Response Function (IRF), and Forecasting. In this study, the relationship of Energy Used and CO2 will be discussed. The data used here were collected over the year 1971 to 2018. Based on the comparison of some criteria: Akaike Information Criterion Corrected (AICC), Hannan-Quin Information Criterion (HQC), Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and Schwarz Bayesian Criterion (SBC) for some VAR(p) model with p= 1,2,3,4,5, the best model with smallest values of AICC, HQC, AIC and SBC is at lag 2 (p= 2). Then the best model found is VECM (2) and further analysis such as Granger Causality, IRF, and Forecasting will be based on this model.

Abstract

Many analytical methods can be utilized for multivariate time series modeling. One of the analytical models for modeling time series data with multiple variables is the State Space Model. The data to be analyzed in this study is inflation data from expenditure groups such as processed foods, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco; and housing inflation for water, electricity, gas, and fuel from January 2001 to December 2021. The aim is to determine the best State Space Model that fits the data for forecasting. In this study, the State Space method will be utilized further with multivariate time series data and represent State Space in Vector Autoregressive (VAR) to determine the relationship between groups of observed variables.
