Abstract

Pavement damage on the Maospati - Magetan - Cemorosewu Road is severe, with issues such as potholes, surface deformation, peeling asphalt layers, and structural deflections due to heavy vehicle loads. These conditions pose significant risks, particularly during the rainy season, leading to hazardous driving conditions. This research aims to analyze the extent of road surface damage and recommend appropriate maintenance solutions using the PKRMS (Provincial/District Road Management System) method and the Bina Marga method. Data were collected through field surveys and official agency reports to assess road conditions. The findings indicate that the overall road condition is relatively good, with low levels of damage. Based on the Bina Marga and PKRMS assessments, routine maintenance is the most suitable repair strategy to prevent further deterioration and enhance road safety. The research underscores the importance of proactive and regular road maintenance planning to ensure long-term road durability. Future research should explore cost optimization strategies and predictive maintenance models to improve infrastructure sustainability.

Abstract

This research investigates cost waste in detailed engineering design for the Syifaul Qulub Surabaya Islamic Boarding School construction project, aiming for on-time, on-budget completion. Utilizing a Lean Construction approach, the study analyzes waste reduction in this densely populated, limited-access urban environment. Primary data from questionnaires were processed to weigh waste in each activity, followed by value stream analysis tools, including Process Activity Mapping, to identify Value-Added (VA) and Non-Value-Added (NVA) activities. The findings revealed that waiting was the primary cause of waste, contributing to 41.8% of critical waste and a 33-day project delay. Root causes included material procurement issues, transportation challenges, and equipment problems. Waste accounted for 21% of all project jobs, categorized as Unnecessary Movement (13.7%), Transportation (12.2%), Material Defects (11%), Storage (10.9%), and Overproduction (6.8%). By addressing these wastes through targeted Lean interventions, the research suggests a potential project acceleration of approximately 16.5% (33 days) and a cost reduction of 5-10% by optimizing resource use and minimizing material waste. These results demonstrate the practical benefits of Lean Construction in mitigating inefficiencies and delays in challenging urban builds.

Abstract

Inadequate drainage infrastructure often leads to waterlogging during rainfall, emphasizing the need for urgent repairs. This study assesses the performance condition of the Rapak Dalam Drainage system using a quantitative and qualitative approach, including field observations, direct measurements, and hydrological data analysis. The findings indicate that the drainage system is rated at a "Good" performance level, with a functional capability of 80.56%. Although the system effectively manages water in most areas, certain components require immediate repairs to maintain optimal functionality. To enhance drainage performance, this study recommends routine inspections, timely maintenance, and sediment management to prevent blockages. Additionally, upgrading drainage infrastructure, optimizing water flow through improved design, and implementing community-based maintenance programs are suggested to ensure long-term efficiency. These measures will help mitigate flooding risks and improve urban water management in Samarinda.

Abstract

The application of the piece-rate wage system in construction projects has the potential to influence project timeliness and worker motivation. This study examines the effect of the piece-rate wage system on the completion efficiency of the SMK school building project in Caruban District, Madiun Regency. A quantitative approach was used, with multiple linear regression analysis conducted on data collected from 40 construction workers via questionnaires. The study analyzed the impact of wage systems, work communication, and work environment on labor productivity and motivation. The results showed that these three factors significantly influence the timely completion of construction work, with the piece-rate wage system playing a crucial role in enhancing worker performance. The findings highlight that implementing a structured piece-rate payment model, improving communication between workers and supervisors, and ensuring a conducive work environment can optimize labor efficiency. This study suggests that contractors and project managers should adopt clear wage agreements, provide incentives for quality work, and establish monitoring mechanisms to balance productivity with work quality.

Abstract

Landslides along the Sumber Pasinan River in Mojokerto Regency, East Java, pose significant risks due to soil erosion and increased flooding during the rainy season. This study aims to analyze the acceleration of construction for a disaster emergency response project using the Critical Path Method (CPM) to minimize time and costs. Employing a quantitative research approach, primary data was gathered through direct observations at the project site, complemented by secondary data from relevant literature and project documents. The findings indicate that the implementation period was successfully reduced from 71 working days to 47 days, achieving a time acceleration of 24 days. This required the addition of 11 workers for the critical task of installing river stone masonry, which constituted 70.16% of the project's workload. The application of CPM proved effective in managing time and resources efficiently. The implications of this research highlight the importance of employing structured project management methodologies in disaster response construction projects. By demonstrating the effectiveness of CPM in accelerating project timelines while controlling costs, this study provides a valuable reference for future projects facing similar challenges. It also opens avenues for further research into the long-term impacts of workforce augmentation on project quality and cost-effectiveness in disaster management contexts.

Abstract

The Banjarsari sluice gate, located on the Sidoarjo district's shipping river, faces various challenges that can affect its performance. These challenges include sedimentation, damage to building structures, and decreased water quality due to domestic and industrial waste. The implementation of the Banjarsari Water Gate maintenance project, especially the floor work, experienced seepage at the bottom of the water gate floor, resulting in structural failure of the water gate building. CPM method duration planning is a recommendation in choosing from the many methods available, because there is a calculation of the earliest time the project starts, the latest time the project begins, the earliest time completed, and the latest time completed, so that the time lag of all activities can be known. Analyze the acceleration of work duration by adding workers to the work on the critical path. The purpose of this research is to analyze the length of time required by the CPM (Critical Path Method) method for the work of the Banjarsari floodgate. In this study, the time analysis uses the CPM (Critical Path Method) method and is assisted by Microsoft Project 2021 Software. The analysis results obtained work through the critical path, namely demolition work and cyclope concrete casting, and obtained the results of the duration of work on the Banjarsari floodgate work after crashing to 66 working days from the initial duration of 72 working days.

Abstract

Delays in construction projects pose significant challenges, particularly in remote areas like the Sumenep District. This research analyzed the pump house construction project delays using the Critical Path Method (CPM) to identify the primary factors causing delays, including material supply issues and labor shortages. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with project stakeholders and analysis of project documents, including weekly reports and schedules. The findings indicated that the project experienced an average delay of two weeks, primarily due to delays in material supply from Surabaya and concurrent labor shortages caused by multiple simultaneous projects. To address these challenges, the study proposed solutions such as strengthening logistics coordination with local suppliers, increasing the workforce on critical tasks, and utilizing additional heavy equipment. The implications of this research highlight the importance of effective time and resource management in construction projects, particularly in remote locations. Applying the CPM method, this study identifies the root causes of delays and provides practical strategies to enhance project efficiency and reduce costs. This research contributes to the existing literature on construction management in Indonesia, emphasizing the need for adaptive approaches tailored to local conditions.

Abstract

The Kedungpeluk Bridge in Sidoarjo Regency collapsed in 2024 due to structural damage, prompting a need for efficient reconstruction methods. This study compared the cost efficiency and implementation time of two bridge designs—pre-stressed concrete beams and Box Culvert. The research used a quantitative approach to collect secondary data from project drawings, cost budget plans (RAB), and S-curves, alongside unstructured interviews with stakeholders. Findings revealed that the Box Culvert design was more cost-effective, requiring Rp. 1,440,254,544.83, compared to Rp. 1,912,436,195.15 for the pre-stressed concrete beams, resulting in a 24.69% cost savings. Moreover, construction with the Box Culvert design was completed in 10 weeks, 28.57% faster than the 14 weeks for the alternative design. These results highlight the Box Culvert as a superior choice for similar infrastructure projects, addressing urgent community needs for reliable transportation. The implications of this research extend to civil engineering practitioners and government agencies, providing a practical reference for future bridge designs that prioritize cost efficiency and timely implementation, thereby promoting enhanced connectivity and economic growth in the region. Further research is recommended to explore environmentally friendly designs and assess long-term performance in various contexts.

Abstract

The cost analysis between the wholesale wage system and work efficiency has special significance in housing projects, such as in Central Park Juanda Housing by PT. The Scarlet Witch is a saint. Through a quantitative approach, this study also contributes to the construction management literature related to workforce management in the field. This study used a sample of 45 respondents consisting of construction workers in the Central Park Juanda housing project, including foremen, handymen, and other field workers. Respondent profiles included gender distribution (82% male), age (dominant 31-41 years), education (47% high school/vocational school), competency certification (58% have certificates), and work experience (dominant 11-15 years). The questionnaire data was tested for validity using the Pearson method with a significance level of 5% and all items were declared valid (rh ? 0.3). Reliability was tested with Cronbach's alpha, and all variables (X1 to Y) were declared reliable (? ? 0.6). The results showed that all independent variables (X1: Labor, X2: Wages, X3: Materials, and X4: Projects) had a negative influence on project efficiency (Y). However, only the variable X4 (Project State) had a significant effect with a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05), while the other variables (X1, X2, and X3) were insignificant., then the data shown by the probability of significance of the ANOVA analysis was with a significance value of 0.021 < 0.05 thus Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted, meaning that simultaneously there was a significant influence. This shows that the state of the project plays an important role in influencing work efficiency, while labor, wholesale wages, and materials do not have a significant impact in the context of this study.

Abstract

Construction project control is a systematic process aimed at ensuring that project objectives align with planning standards. One method used to accelerate project duration is "crashing," which involves reducing the time of specific activities that affect project completion, focusing particularly on activities on the critical path. This research adopts a descriptive method to collect and analyze data on the status of current symptoms related to project time management. Data collection was conducted through documentation, utilizing records, images, and work outputs. The results show that total project costs decrease significantly as the level of time compression (reduction of project duration) increases. However, increasing labor costs exhibits a small but consistent rise, indicating lower cost efficiency. The most optimal project costs were observed when additional working time was utilized, as opposed to adding more labor. In conclusion, while the crashing method is effective for reducing the risk of fines and indirect costs, selecting the best alternative requires balancing productivity and marginal costs (cost-time trade-off). For similar projects, extending working hours proves more cost-effective than increasing workforce size.
