Abstract

Feeding independence is one of the target achievements desired by every farmer. One of them is the Bago Mulyo livestock group. The Bago Mulyo livestock group is a livestock group located in Gumukmas District, Jember Regency. Several problems of the Bago Mulyo Livestock Group which reduce production by 5% because the prices of production facilities (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and feed) are expensive and the distribution is not smooth; the need for food will increase by 5% due to panic buying and food supplies. The distribution of feed was not optimal, making farmers have to find solutions so that feed ingredients are still available. One solution is to utilize existing feed ingredients and maintain their feed quality until they are available throughout the year, namely by silage method. The implementation of the service consists of several activities, the first was coordination with the head of the Bago Mulyo livestock group, purchased silage materials, simulated modified silo tools, implementation of community service, and surveying the results of community service activities. The results of the community service survey which have shown that 100% of farmers who participate in the service activities understand silage technology with the addition of silo modification from previously only 43% who understand silage technology. The conclusion is an increase in understanding of silage technology which is one of the indicators of support for the service team in carrying out service activities for the Bago Mulyo Livestock Group, so that this technology can be applied properly for the sustainability of the cattle business in the Livestock Group.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the incidence of coccidiosis in dairy cattle in the Jember District. A total of 75 samples were obtained from Friesian Holstein female dairy cows of varying ages. The materials used were fecal samples, saturated salt (saturated sodium chloride), and distilled water. The method used is a quantitative method with the Mc technique. Master and Whitlock to count oocysts per gram of stool (OPG) found in samples to determine the severity of coccidiosis. Stool samples are taken directly from the rectum of the dairy cattle or taken from the floor of the pen if the dairy cows have just released feces (fresh feces). The stool sample taken for each dairy cow is 10 grams of feces. Identification of the oocysts of Eimeria spp. done qualitatively by using the floating method or the flotation method. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis, then the prevalance was calculated. The results showed that the prevalence of coccidiosis in the Jember District reached 20% with a mild category of infection.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to ascertain how giving commercial feed of various brands affects the physical quality of meat obtained from Kampung Unggul Balitbangtan (KUB) chickens on pH values, cooking losses and water holding capacity. The Completely Randomized Design (RAL) and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) techniques were used in this study. The Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) was used to see if there were any notable changes. This research used 160 Day Old Chicks (DOC) with 4 commercial feed treatments with different brands, namely P1 (WK Feed). P2 (CPH Feed), P3 (PAT Feed) and P4 (CFD Feed) with level of protein contains each brand. The results of this study show that giving commercial feed with different brands can have a significant effect (P
