Abstract

The present study was to evaluate the effects of nano-encapsulated Phaleria macrocarpa fruit extract (NEPM) in drinking water on the digestive organs and carcass characteristic of broiler chickens. A total number of two hundred male broiler chicks were randomly divided into five treatments with four replicates, each replicate contained ten chickens. Broiler chickens have received a basal diet supplemented with or without experimental treatments. Five experimental treatments were: control diet (T0; negative control), diet with tetracycline (T1; positive control), diet with 2.5% of Phaleria macrocarpa fruits extract (T2),  diet with 2.5% NEPM (T3), and diet with 5.0% NEPM (T4). The diets were based on yellow corn and soybean meal and contained 20.44% crude protein, 2,917.47 kcal/kg metabolizable energy, 0.84% Calcium, and 0.51% available Phosphorus. On the 35th day, one bird from each replicate pen was slaughtered. Carcass characteristics and weights of digestive organs were measured. Data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA in a completely randomized design. The orthogonal contrast test was used to separate the mean when the P-value was less than 5%. Results showed that the use of nano-encapsulated Phaleria macrocarpa fruits extracts up to 5.0% in the diet did not give any significant effect on the carcass, digestive organs, heart and liver weights of broiler chickens. It can be concluded that the supplementation of Phaleria macrocarpa fruits extracts whether nano-encapsulated or not, did not affect carcass weight, weights of digestive organs and weights of the heart and liver of broiler chickens.

Abstract

One of the livestock groups engaged in raising male laying hens is the "Nawawi Farm" Farmer Group, which is located in Nogosari Village, Jember Regency. This group is chaired by Mr. Ainul and consists of approximately 100 breeders. Based on discussions with members of the livestock group, breeders have several problems. Farmers experience a lack of standard information on feed nutrient requirements, feed amount and feed conversion. The unknown standard of feed nutrient in male layer hens causes breeders to find it difficult to achieve the target harvest. Therefore, it is necessary to provide counseling on the production standards of male layer hens in the "Nawawi Farm" livestock group. The method of implementing the activity is in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with stages, namely the analysis of community needs, counseling on the production standards of male laying hens, and guiding the maintenance of male laying hens. The output of this dedication is that all breeders of the "Nawawi Farm" livestock group can understand the production standards of male laying hens. Rations with protein, namely 18% crude protein, had no effect on feed consumption, FCR, mortality, production index. Rations with 18% crude protein can replace rations with 21% crude protein for feeding male layer hens. This service activity was welcomed by all breeders from the "Nawawi Farm" livestock group so that the service that has been carried out is well organized. Suggestions from this activity are expected that this service will be held at the next meeting in the form of competency training for making rations with the use of local materials in meeting the nutrient feed standards in raising male layer chickens in the "Nawawi Farm" livestock group of Jember Regency, in order to increase the production standards of male layer chickens so that they get greater profit.

Abstract

Latar Belakang : Kambing Cross Boer merupakan kambing hasil persilangan antara kambing boerawa jantan dengan kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE) betina. Kelebihan kambing Boerawa terdapat pada tingkat pertumbuhan yang lebih cepat, dan daya tahan tubuh yang baik. Tujuan : Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui efek pemberian bungkil inti sawit fermentasi dengan level berbeda terhadap pertambahan bobot badan kambing Cross Boer jantan lepas sapih. Metode : Penelitian ini menggunakan 4 ekor kambing Cross Boer jantan lepas sapih berumur 11 bulan dengan bobot badan awal 17±3kg. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Bujur Sangkar Latin (RBL) dengan 4 perlakuan pemberian bungkil inti sawit dan 4 ulangan. Perlakuan yang diterapkan adalah sebagai berikut: P0= pakan basal, P1= pakan basal + 15% bungkil inti sawit fermentasi, P2= pakan basal + 30% bungkil inti sawit fermentasi, P3= pakan basal + 45% bungkil inti sawit fermentasi. Percobaan dilaksanakan selama 56 hari. Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian bungkil inti sawit fermentasi (P1, P2, P3) nyata menghasilkan konsumsi pakan yang lebih tinggi dibanding tanpa pemberian bungkil inti sawit fermentasi (P0), tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertambahan beratbadan kambing. Kesimpulan : Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Pemberian bungkil inti sawit fermentasi dengan level berbeda berpengaruh nyata terhadap komsumsi pakan dan pertambahan bobot badan kambing Cross Boer jantan lepas sapih.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui profil lemak darah ayam Gaok pada kondisi cekaman panas dan dengan pemberian vitamin C pada pakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 32 ekor ayam Gaok (16 ekor jantan dan 16 betina). Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok faktorial (RAKF) pola 2x2 dengan 4 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah cekaman panas (S0 = tanpa cekaman panas, S1 = dengan cekaman panas) dan faktor kedua adalah vitamin C (V0 = tanpa vitamin C, V1 = diberi vitamin C 500 ppm). Parameter profil lemak dalam darah yang diamati meliputi kadar kolesterol, kadar LDL, kadar HDL dan kadar trigliserida dalam darah. Data hasil uji lemak darah dianalisis menggunakan Analysis of Varian (ANOVA) dan apabila terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dilakukan uji lanjut dengan menggunakan uji Beda Nyata Terkecil (BNT) taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara cekaman panas dan vitamin C tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap profil lemak darah yang meliputi kadar kolesterol, Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL), High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) dan trigliserida. Faktor cekaman panas secara nyata dapat meningkatkan kadar kolesterol dalam darah, dan faktor perlakuan vitamin C berpengaruh nyata menurunkan kadar HDL dalam darah ayam Gaok. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah tidak adanya interaksi yang signifikan antara vitamin C dan cekaman panas terhadap profil lemak darah ayam Gaok.

Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) yaitu (1) memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan PT Rima Kinanti Lestari selaku mitra dan kelompok ternak binaannya dalam mengolah pakan sehingga ketersediaannya dapat terjaga. (2) Mengetahui manfaat penambahan crude tanin kulit kopi pada silase untuk mendukung pertumbuhan ternak potong. Pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-November 2023 dan berlokasi pada kediaman mitra di Bagorejo, Gumukmas, Jember. Kegiatan ini melibatkan mitra dan 25 kelompok ternak binaan. Tahapan pengabdian diantaranya yaitu Focus Group Discoussion (FGD), penyuluhan, pelatihan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi oleh tim pengabdian. Hasil kegiatan PKM  yaitu seluruh target pada setiap tahapan telah terpenuhi. Pendekatan edukatif pengabdian memiliki dampak positif diantaranya meningkatnya pengetahuan mitra dan kelompok ternak binaan terkait teknologi pengawetan hijauan yaitu silase dengan penambahan crude tanin kulit kopi dan manfaat yang ditimbulkan setelah diberikan langsung untuk ternak potong. Setelah kegiatan ini terlaksana diharapkan mitra dapat secara mandiri mengembangkan teknologi silase crude tanin kulit kopi dengan tetap didampingi oleh tim pengabdian. Kata kunci: crude tanin; kulit kopi; silase; ternak potong Abstract The aim of community service activies is to provide knowledge and skills PT Rima Kinanti Lestari as a partner and all livestock group to processing feed so that its availability can be maintained. Furthermore, the benefits of adding crude tannin husk coffee to silage support the growth of livestock. Community service held in August-November 2023 and location at Bagorejo, Gumukmas, Jember. This activity involves partners and 25 livestock group built PT Rima Kinanti Lestari. The stages of service includ Focus Group Discussion (FGD), counseling, training, and monitoring evaluation. The conclusion has been achieved of all activity targets at each stage. The educational approach to service has a positive impact, include to increasing the knowledge of partners and assited livestock group regrading forage preservation technology namely silage with the addition of crude tannin coffe husk and the benefits thaht arise after be given directly to livestock. After this activity is carried out, it is hoped that partners can indpendently develop silage technology crude tannin coffe husk  while still being accompanied by the service team. Keywords: crude tannin; coffee husk; silage; livestock

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi suplementasi sinbiotik dari limbah biji nangka dan bakteri Lactobacillus sp. pada pakan terhadap produktivitas ayam KUB. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kandang Unit Penunjang Akademik (UPA) Politeknik Negeri Jember selama 28 hari dengan menggunakan 400 ekor Ayam KUB yang berumur 57 hari. Pakan dan air minum diberikan secara adlibitum dengan komposisi kandungan nutrien terdiri dari Protein Kasar (PK) 20,84%, dan Energi Metabolis (EM) 2925,85 Kcal/kg. Metode penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), dengan 4 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, setiap ulangan terdiri dari 5 ekor ayam. Analisis data mempergunakan Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), dan jika ditemukan perbedaan yang signifikan, diuji lanjut menggunakan Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) (P<0,05). Perlakuan dalam penelitian ini meliputi: P0 perlakuan kontrol (tanpa sinbiotik), P1, P2, dan P3 dengan penambahan sinbiotik masing – masing 0,5%, 1,0%, dan 1,5%. Parameter dalam penelitian ini meliputi konsumsi pakan dan air minum, pertambahan bobot badan (PBB), serta Feed Convertion Ratio (FCR). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan sinbiotik dari limbah biji nangka dan bakteri Lactobacillus sp. tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (P>0,05) terhadap produktivitas ayam KUB. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah suplementasi sinbiotik pada pakan hingga level 1,5% tidak mempengaruhi produktivitas ayam KUB dan tidak memberikan efek negatif terhadap pertumbuhan ayam KUB.

Abstract

Coal mining causes significant environmental degradation, transforming land from a stable ecosystem into a disturbed area with complex ecological and chemical challenges. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of post-coal mining reclaimed land as an area for livestock feed and animal husbandry production, focusing on the main research question: Does the land meet specific criteria such as heavy metal thresholds (e.g., Pb <0.3 mg/kg, Cd <0.1 mg/kg according to FAO/WHO), microbial community recovery (enzyme activity >30% increase), and nutrient availability (N, P, K >1% total)? The systematic literature review method involved searching 94 empirical articles from Google Scholar (years 2016-2025), selected based on criteria: empirical research design, English or Indonesian language, complete text, and relevance to the theme of mine land reclamation. Data analysis used a thematic approach to identify main themes related to reclaimed land conditions. The results show that 80% of studies report heavy metal pollution with Pb concentrations ranging from 5-50 mg/kg, Cd 0.5-5 mg/kg, and Hg 0.1-2 mg/kg, which pose a risk of bioaccumulation in feed plants; post-reclamation soil quality improvement trends reach 20-50% for soil organic carbon (SOC) and 30-60% for microbial enzyme activity, although the main constraints are slow microbial community recovery and chronic nutrient deficiency. In conclusion, reclaimed land is conditionally suitable for livestock feed and animal husbandry production if integrated restoration strategies are implemented to address microbial contamination, heavy metals, and nutrients, as well as continuous monitoring to ensure feed safety and animal health.
