Abstract

Abstract This study analyzes the factors influencing people to convert paddy fields in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The factors examined include gender, age, certified land area, credit, and rice production. This research used an associative quantitative method using secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2013 and the Agriculture and Plantation Office of West Nusa Tenggara Province in 2020-2023. The data were analyzed using logistic regression to test the relationship between socioeconomic variables and land conversion decisions. The results showed that certified land area significantly affected land conversion decisions. Gender, age, credit, and rice production negatively affect land conversion decisions, indicating a tendency for good credit management and increased rice production to reduce the tendency of conversion of paddy and non-paddy land.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how Indonesia's economic growth is influenced by export values, foreign debt, and exchange rates over the period of 2010–2024. The main issue investigated is the uncertainty of the contribution of external factors such as exports and foreign debt in promoting economic growth, as well as the volatility of exchange rates that potentially creates a dilemma between export competitiveness and inflation risk. A quantitative research method is applied using secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Bank Indonesia, and other official sources in the form of time series data from 2010 to 2024. Multiple linear regression analysis using Eviews 13 shows that foreign debt has a negative and significant impact on Indonesia's economic growth, while export values and exchange rates have a positive but insignificant impact on Indonesia's economic growth. The coefficient of determination (Adj. R²) of 41.4% indicates that other variables outside the model also influence economic growth. These findings confirm that foreign debt becomes a major inhibiting factor due to the risk of debt overhang and unproductive allocation, while exports are not yet optimal due to dependence on primary commodities and global price fluctuations or exchange rate volatility. The results of this study provide new perspectives in evaluating the interaction of external and internal factors in the context of Indonesia's economic recovery. This study recommends export diversification, productivity-based debt management, and exchange rate stabilization through integrated policies.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the background of the community surrounding the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) in converting agricultural land and analyze the implications of this land use change on community welfare. The research approach used a quantitative method with a case study design. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews with the community and related parties, and documentation from various relevant sources. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and verification to obtain accurate conclusions. The results show that agricultural land conversion by the community is influenced by various factors, including economic considerations, government policy encouragement related to tourism development, and the community's need to increase income and standard of living. Furthermore, the results revealed that land use change has a dual impact on community welfare. On the one hand, there is economic improvement through easier access to jobs and new business opportunities in the non-agricultural sector. However, on the other hand, social and cultural changes arise due to shifts in livelihoods, as well as threats to local food security. Overall, land use change in the Mandalika SEZ contributes to improving economic welfare, but poses challenges in terms of social and environmental sustainability.
