Abstract

Roseate Tern Sterna dougallii is a rare to uncommon resident and migrant species in Greater Sundas, with only a handful records in Java. On 24 May 2021, a nest containing a single egg of the species was found in Karang Ketel islet, Karimunjawa Islands and constitute the first breeding record of Roseate Tern in the area, filling the breeding information gap of the species in Java for about 80 years since it first reported. Follow up surveys after the findings carried out for three consecutive years from May 2021-June 2023, reveals the species regularly breeding in three locations, i.e., Karang Ketel islet, Karang Kapal islet, and Krakal Besar I. Breeding recorded from May to August, with only small colony of 2-20 birds present.

Abstract

Dalam kunjungan pengamatan ke tiga gunung dan satu dataran tinggi di Jawa Tengah dan Timur sepanjang 2014-2021, kami menjumpai 13 jenis burung pada ketinggian melebihi batas elevasi yang diketahui. Ketiga belas jenis dimaksud terdiri dari tiga burung air dan 10 burung terestrial. Mandar batu Gallinula chloropus di Telaga Warna, Dataran Tinggi Dieng dan cucak kutilang Pycnonotus aurigaster di TN G. Merbabu menjadi temuan paling signifikan, dijumpai 800+ m lebih tinggi dari batas yang diketahui sebelumnya.

Abstract

Saat ini Pandemi Covid-19 masih berlangsung dan belum memperlihatkan tanda-tanda penurunan, tetapi kegiatan kemasyarakatan baik ekonomi, sosial maupun peribadatan sudah mulai berjalan. Hal ini sesuai dengan arahan pemerintah mengenai kondisi new normal atau yang dikenal sebagai adaptasi kebiasaan baru dimana semua aspek kehidupan bermasyarakat wajib menerapkan protokol pencegahan dan pengendalian infeksi. Demikian pula dengan rumah peribadatan dalam hal ini mesjid. Mesjid Al Muhajirin sebagai mesjid kampus Universitas Siliwangi wajib menerapkan protokol kesehatan dengan mencakup: disinfektan rumah ibadah, cuci tangan, menggunakan masker, jaga jarak, alat ibadah sendiri serta pemerikasaan suhu tubuh. Pada kenyataanya pemeriksaan suhu tubuh dengan menggunakan thermal gun mengakibatkan antrian yang cukup panjang, hal ini disebabkan waktu pemeriksaan tiap jamaah cukup lama yaitu 1 – 2 detik. Oleh karena itu dilakukan terobosan pemeriksaan suhu tubuh jamaah dengan menggunakan thermal imager yang dapat menurunkan waktu pemeriksaan menjadi di bawah 0,5 detik dengan penempatan di pintu mesjid Al Muhajirin Universitas Siliwangi.

Abstract

Kec. Salawu merupakan daerah penghasil gula aren terbesar yang mencapai 30% dari total produksi gula aren Kab. Tasikmalaya. UKM SIRIN adalah salah satu kelompok usaha yang memproduksi gula aren cetak. Tahun 2023 produksi gula cetak mencapai 35,2 ton. Efektivitas gula aren bisa ditingkatkan menjadi dua kali lipat jika dibuat menjadi gula aren cair dibanding jika diproduksi menjadi gula cetak. Penggantian gula cetak oleh gula cair dapat dijadikan langkah penghematan biaya operasi produksi gula aren. Penggunaan gula cair dalam industri makanan dan minuman akan lebih praktis dan hemat energi karena tidak perlu memanaskan larutan untuk mencairkan gula cetak. Dari sisi produksi, gula cair dapat meningkatkan nilai ekonomi, dimana konsumsi energi lebih rendah akibat gula yang dikemas dalam bentuk cair tidak perlu mengalami proses kristalisasi. Namun, ada dua hal penting yang terkait dengan produksi gula aren di UKM SIRIN. Pertama, biaya konsumsi kayu bakar baik untuk produksi gula cetak maupun gula cair masih tinggi. Kedua, pengolahan gula cair dengan metode tradisional yang belum disertai dengan pengontrolan suhu pemasakan dan waktu pengolahan, maka itu dapat menyebabkan karamelisasi berlebihan yang menyebabkan warna gula hitam, berbuih dan terbentuk endapan.  Oleh karena itu, dalam produksi gula aren cair di UKM SIRIN perlu bahan bakar murah dan ramah lingkungan sehingga dapat meningkatkan keuntungan serta perlu alat pemasak dengan sistem termal otomatis untuk mengatur siklus penahanan termal selama penghilangan uap air. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan solusi bagi mitra untuk merubah orientasi produk dari gula cetak ke gula cair dalam rangka mengeliminasi kebutuhan bahan bakar dan waktu proses pemasakan serta untuk menurunkan produk cacat gula aren cair selama proses produksi. Jumlah peserta adalah 10 orang anggota kelompok UKM SIRIN. Pelaksanaan pelatihan adalah dari tanggal 25 sampai 26 Agustus 2024. Kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan metode pelatihan, praktek, dan pendampingan. Metode pelatihan dilakukan dengan memberikan tatacara pengolahan gula aren cetak menggunakan vakum evaporator otomatis. Metode praktek dilakukan dengan mempraktekan langsung penggunaan vakum evaporator otomatis. Pendampingan secara teknis dilakukan dengan menempatkan pendamping mahasiswa untuk memantau kegiatan mitra dari tanggal 28 Agustus sampai 12 September 2024. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa ketertarikan peserta dalam kegiatan ini terkatagori sangat baik terutama untuk aspek aktivitas yang berdampak pada kesejahteraan ekonomi, keterampilan bagi masyarakat, mendorong masyarakat untuk menindaklanjuti, dan solusi masalah mitra. Hasil juga menunjukkan bahwa dalam rentang antara 78 - 80% peserta terampil dalam sebagian aspek pengoperasian vakum evaporator otomatis, kontrol suhu ventilasi pembakaran dan ketepatan produksi gula aren cair, yang mengindikasikan bahwa peserta dapat mengoperasikan vakum evaporator secara mandiri tanpa bantuan pendampingan

Abstract

Agriculture is a vital sector in the global economy, and to meet the growing demand, efficient management of water resources is a must. Amidst increasing climate instability, Internet of Things (IoT) technology has emerged as a potential solution. This research aims to develop an IoT-based smart irrigation system with fuzzy logic for sunflower plants. The system is designed to monitor and regulate water use automatically, increase productivity, and reduce waste of natural resources. This research uses an experimental model with the Mamdani method in fuzzy inference. It involves hardware (sensors), software (fuzzy logic), and IoT system. The results of this system implementation show that the system successfully performs watering management according to its environmental conditions.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of a five-level cascaded three-phase four-wire inverter as an active power filter to mitigate harmonics in power grids. Harmonic components in the load current are transformed and filtered to create a reference current, which serves as the foundation for designing the inverter’s switching pattern. The predicted current, generated through circuit modeling, is compared with the reference current using the model predictive control (MPC) method. The accuracy of this approach is evaluated using a cost function that measures the difference between the predicted and reference currents. Simulation results reveal that the application of the hybrid power filter can effectively suppress harmonics, reducing the total harmonic distortion (THD) to below 5%, thereby meeting power quality standards. Furthermore, it addresses load imbalances, ensuring that the phase currents at the source remain nearly equal. Additionally, the hybrid power filter significantly decreases the neutral current, reducing it to just one-tenth of its original value. While MPC has demonstrated its effectiveness in controlling power converters and multilevel inverters, its application to active power filters remains underexplored. This study investigates the potential of a four-legged multilevel inverter with MPC to enhance power quality by reducing harmonics in three-phase four wire systems.

Abstract

Stunting remains a significant public health concern in Indonesia, leading to lifelong developmental and economic disadvantages. This study aims to address limitations in conventional child growth monitoring by developing and validating an IoT-based system that integrates ultrasonic and load cell sensors, an ESP32 microcontroller, RFID identification, and cloud-based data management. The system enables automated, real-time measurement and digital record-keeping, accessible via a user-friendly dashboard. Empirical validation was conducted on 35 children at local Integrated Health Service Post (Posyandu), showing high measurement accuracy (±0.53 cm for height, ±0.08 kg for weight), rapid average data transmission (2.05 seconds), and strong agreement with manual gold standards (p > 0.05). Usability evaluations indicated high satisfaction among health cadres, with streamlined workflows reducing time and staff requirements. The findings demonstrate that the proposed IoT-based system offers an effective, scalable, and economically viable solution for improving child growth monitoring and supporting stunting prevention programs in community health settings.

Abstract

The Grey-tailed Tattler Tringa brevipes is a migratory shorebird species that migrates to the southern hemisphere, including Indonesia. In Sumatra, the species was previously considered a vagrant, but new records suggest it may be an uncommon visitor. A study compiled 26 sightings of Tringa brevipes in Sumatra from 1999 to 2024, with most records coming from the east coast of the island. The species was found in small numbers, with the largest flock consisting of 20 individuals. Based on these records, it is recommend reclassifying the species' status to "uncommon visitor" rather than "vagrant." Further research is needed to understand the species' migration patterns and habitat use in Sumatra.

Abstract

This study addressed the need for timely monitoring of child nutritional status by designing, implementing, and evaluating a web-based dashboard. The system captured demographic and anthropometric records, automated status classification using World Health Organization z-scores, and visualized longitudinal growth trajectories. Development followed an iterative, user-centered process and was validated with synthetic records and formative testing by community health workers. Functional testing confirmed correct operation of data entry, classification, and reporting. Against reference calculations, category assignments matched all twenty test cases. Performance profiling indicated responsive interaction (time to first byte about 180 milliseconds; time to interactive about 1.3 seconds), and usability measured with the System Usability Scale fell in the “good” range. Findings suggested readiness for community use and a scalable foundation for future integration and field deployment.
