Abstract

Peatland conversion has become a serious issue in recent years. The dynamic between peatland protection and limited space for urban development is a strategic issue in spatial planning. This research aims to evaluate the spatial pattern planning of peatland areas in the 2018 Regional Spatial Plan of Humbang Hasundutan District. The focus of this research is a peatland area of 666.77 hectares. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a spatial data exploration approach using ArGIS 10.8 application. The results show that the spatial pattern plan of peatland in 2018 has a mismatch in spatial use, non-peatland reaches 357.06 hectares (53.55%), most of which is used as fields/crops (39.10%) and settlements (3.04%). The extent of land rights reaches 118.47 hectares (17.77%), while land without land rights is dominated by swamp land use (32.96 hectares or 41.51%). Cultivated land has the largest share (62.72%) as a potential cultivation function. Improvements to the spatial pattern plan for peatlands have decreased in area by -295.84 hectares (-44.37%), which needs to be considered in the future revision of the Humbang Hasundutan District Spatial Plan, including the regulation of general zoning provisions.

Abstract

Spatial-based tourism development planning can help various parties to develop tourism in Lake Toba, especially in villages in Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The purpose of this research is to spatially analyse the physical characteristics and level of suitability of Janji Waterfall tourism development to support tourism development plans. The data used in this study are administrative boundary maps, soil type maps, land cover maps, slope maps, coordinates of the location of attractions and tourism facilities. Spatial analysis using Geographic Information System tools with join-space and overlay methods were used to describe the physical characteristics of the area, accessibility conditions, tourism facilities conditions and the level of suitability for tourism development. Based on the physical characteristics of the area, Janji Waterfall has supporting aspects in the form of beautiful natural scenery in the form of water flow, hills, vegetation and lakes. Accessibility to the tourism areas is easy from different locations as good quality road access already exists. Many support facilities are built in flat areas and close to settlements. The site or location of the waterfall is mostly in the criteria for the suitability of the development area, which is quite suitable and very suitable. For future development plans, it is recommended that managers, village governments and local governments work together. Visitor safety needs attention as the potential danger of landslides and flash floods is a threat that needs to be anticipated.

Abstract

Cadika Park has long been a popular public space for outdoor learning and social activities. The development of Cadika Park into an educational tourism area needs to take into account the characteristics and perceptions of visitors. The purpose of this study was to analyse visitor perceptions for the development of educational tourism in Cadika Park. The research data came from drone mapping, field observations and interviews with questionnaires on field conditions and visitor characteristics and perceptions. Descriptive analysis was used to describe the field and questionnaire data to provide an overview of field conditions and visitor characteristics and perceptions. Analysis in the form of tables and graphs that quantitatively describe the distribution of characteristics and opinions of respondents in relation to the availability of objects and the potential for educational tourism development. The study found that almost all respondents perceived that Cadika Park has educational tourism objects. The Cadika Park area has natural potential for educational tourism in the form of flora, fauna and water. According to most respondents, forests and lakes are the most interesting objects that are widely used for educational activities.

Abstract

Flooding is one of the environmental problems that often occur in Medan City due to rapid urban development and land use change. This research aims to analyse the spatial distribution of flood vulnerability in Medan City based on the parameters of land use, slope, soil type, geology, distance from river and rainfall. The methods used in this research include Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis and weighting of flood vulnerability parameters using the scoring method. The data used included Sentinel 2 imagery for land use, DEM data for slope, CHRIPS for rainfall and SHP data for soil type and geology. The spatial distribution of flood vulnerability in Medan City shows a concentration in the southwest and central parts of the city. The spatial distribution of flood vulnerability is mostly at the high - very high vulnerability level, namely in the Belawan Sicanang area of 1,047.07 ha. high vulnerability level, namely in the Belawan Sicanang area of 1,047. 07 ha with a percentage of 12%, Martubung village area of 1,032 ha with a percentage of 11%, Kelurahan Besar area of 1,013 ha with a percentage of 11% and Pekan Labuhan village area of 1,022 ha with a percentage of 11%. Ha with a percentage of 11%. This research is expected to be a suggestion for spatial distribution developed as an early warning system for flood impacts in Medan City.

Abstract

The increase in waste generation and the lack of waste management efforts in landfills (TPA) continuously causes the capacity of the landfill to be full. Determination of the location of a new landfill designation is one solution to avoid environmental pollution problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the location of the waste landfill feasible zone based on regional criteria and determine the location of alternative waste landfill designations based on the exclusion criteria in Bathin Solapan District. This research uses primary data and secondary data. The research method used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. In this research, the location of waste landfill is determined by adjusting SNI 19-3241-1994 and analyzed by overlay analysis and scoring. The samples in this study were several locations determined from the results of overlaying several land unit maps. Sampling was done by purposive sampling. The results showed that there was a waste landfill feasibility zone in Bathin Solapan District covering an area of 21,831.1 Ha spread across 13 villages. The alternative location of the waste landfill designation based on the elimination criteria is located in Petani Village, Jalan Rangau km 17 with a land area of 9.16 Ha and a suitability value of 664. Based on the opt-out stage analysis, the selected alternative site has a more positive socio-economic impact compared to the other sites.

Abstract

Sustainable urban planning requires the integration of land use and transport to create efficient, safe and sustainable areas. One approach that supports this is the impact of regional development due to station operations, as illustrated by land use change. This research aims to analyse the land use change around Bandar Khalipah Station in Deli Serdang Regency as a potential area for TOD development in the future. This research uses visual interpretation method to classify land use using Google Earth satellite images in the period of 2014, 2018 and 2024. Data analysis was conducted by analysing the land use area and land use change matrix in the period of 2014 - 2024. The results of this study showed that there were changes in land use from the period 2024 - 2024. Land use in the area around Bandar Khalipah Station consists of six types, namely public areas and green open spaces, station and railway areas, commercial areas, offices, settlements and roads. Land change in 2014-2024 is most dominant in public areas and green open spaces. Public areas and green open spaces experienced a decrease in area due to land change into commercial and residential areas, so these two land categories experienced a significant increase in area.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the variables that affect the participation of residents of Bantan Village, West Siantar District, Pematangsiantar City in community-based waste management. Cross-sectional study using logistic regression and descriptive analysis is the methodology used. Data were collected through interviews, observations and questionnaires from local communities in the period October to December 2024. Logistic regression analysis uses one independent variable, which is community-based waste management. The independent variables used to find significant factors in community-based waste management are eight variables, namely income (X1), education (X2), knowledge (X3), attitude (X4), facilities and infrastructure (X5), exposure to information media (X6), the role of community leaders (X7), and the availability of waste retribution (X8). The regression model formed from the regression analysis of community-based waste management is LOG (ODDS) =-4.803-5.047X1+2.269X2-0.278X3-4.120X4+3.792X5+4.932X6-3.957X7+3.078X8. Statistically significant factors are income, education, facilities and infrastructure, exposure to information media, and availability of waste collection. The largest factor influencing community-based waste management is exposure to information media, which accounts for more than half of the total influence with a percentage of around 57.6%.
