Abstract

The objectives of this study were (1) to determine the technical efficiency of the input use of smallholder oil palm plantations, (2) to determine the factors causing the technical inefficiency of smallholder oil palm plantations, and (3) to analyze the risk behavior of oil palm smallholders in Jambi Province. This research was conducted in Muaro Jambi, Batanghari, Sarolangun and Tebo Districts. The location was selected purposively. The sample size is 280 farmers. The estimation method used the Kumbhakar Production Function model with the stochastic frontier approach. The results showed that the use of production inputs either simultaneously or partially had a significant effect on FFB production. The use of production inputs has not technically efficient yet (ET <0.63). The source of technical inefficiency is significantly influenced by the age of the farmer, land distance, and area. The farther the land is; the older the farmer is; and the more land is cultivated by the farmer, the less efficient oil palm farming is. Oil palm farmers behavior in Jambi Province is risk averse. This behavior impacts on the allocation of inputs used. The more avoidance of risks, the less the allocation of input use, and the farm productivity achieved will be lower. The combination of the use of palm oil production inputs will affect the level of technical efficiency. The low average of technical efficiency indicates that the risk preferences of oil palm farmers have an effect on technical efficiency. Increased productivity that takes into account the production function, risk function, and profit function must be used as much as the optimal use of input in order to obtain a productivity increase of 28 - 49%

Abstract

Abstract

Payo rice is one of the ancestral legacies of the Kerinci community which has been passed down from generation to generation to the Kerinci community. Payo rice supply chain analysis needs to be done to be able to calculate the level of market efficiency of the various links involved, so it can be seen the potential market access of payo rice which is scattered in various regions in Jambi Province. This study aims to 1) Knowing the description of the payo rice supply chain mechanism in Gunung Raya Sub-District, Kerinci District; 2) Analyzing the level of efficiency of Payo rice in Gunung Raya Sub-District. The determination of the location of this study was carried out with consideration that Gunung Raya District is an area that still produces Payo rice in Kerinci Regency. The sampling method used is nonprobability sampling. To find out the mechanism of payo rice supply chain, the determination of samples is taken based on purposive sampling and snowball sampling by setting one key person. The description and mechanism of the supply chain were analyzed using qualitative analysis methods within the framework of the Food Supply Chain Network (FSCN). And the analysis of the level of market efficiency uses a quantitative method with an operational efficiency analysis approach based on the measurement of marketing margins and the value of the farmer's share. The results of this study indicate that there are 4 channel patterns depicted in the payo rice supply chain mechanism in Gunung Raya District, each of which has a fairly good product flow, financial flow, and information flow. The perception of farmers, traders, and marketefficiency of the Payo rice supply chain has been efficient with a high farmer’s share value that is above 50%.

Abstract

This service aims to implement a Management Information System (SIM) to improve the efficiency of village administration management, accelerate public services, and increase transparency in Sei Mencirim Village. This program also aims to improve the digital literacy of village officials to be able to utilize technology in managing village administration. This activity is carried out through socialization, technical training, and mentoring of village officials in using SIM. Socialization aims to provide a basic understanding of SIM, while technical training includes simulations of using SIM software and managing village administration data. The final stage is mentoring to ensure the SIM can operate optimally. The implementation of the SIM has improved the efficiency of village administration management, accelerated public services, and increased transparency of village budgets. The community felt the direct benefits in the form of faster document processing time, as well as increased transparency in budget use. Village officials can access and manage data in real-time, accelerating the decision-making process. The main challenges in implementing the SIM include limited technological infrastructure and low digital literacy of village officials. However, the training provided has improved the ability of village officials to manage administration better. The program is also credited with reducing administrative errors that are common in manual systems. However, strengthening the infrastructure and increasing the capacity of village officials are needed to optimize the operation of the SIM. The implementation of SIM in Sei Mencirim Village has brought positive impacts in the form of increased administrative efficiency and public services. Although there are still challenges such as limited infrastructure and digital literacy, this program can be used as a model for implementing technology in other villages. With the support of the local government, this program is expected to improve community welfare and encourage transparency in village management.
