Abstract

This study aims to introduce sorghum and its potential as an alternative food, fodder and also a source of energy in the form of bioethanol. This activity targets the absence of accurate information about the sorghum varieties suitable for all of the end product of sorghum. Adaptability allows sorghum to be planted on marginal lands without having to compete against the land with important agricultural crops. The observed variables including generative morphological traits and yield components and the potential of bioethanol will be produced. The study of variables of the generative traits (plant height, panicle length, and panicle weight) and yield components (weight of 100 seeds / plot and seed dry weight / plot) shows that the three varieties tested responded well to the environment is growing. Varieties Pahat indicates growth response and the best results followed by Kawali and UPCA. Pahat is more likely to be studied and developed in Aceh.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Sorghum is a food crop commodity that has important potential as a source of food and renewable energy for food and energy independence during the COVID-19 pandemic. Community service activities regarding processing sorghum into food and energy are very important in dealing with food dependence on rice and fuel energy from crude oil. Through extension activities and training on sorghum processing, it is hoped that it can increase public knowledge about sorghum and its processing. The method used is counseling and training on sorghum processing to the community. Extension and training activities for processing sorghum into alternative food and renewable energy in order to increase community knowledge in Blang Nibong Village, Samudera District, North Aceh Regency have been carried out and can be well received by the community. The community is very enthusiastic about participating in the service activities. The community has knowledge of the processing of sorghum into sorghum flour as an ingredient for processed food products such as steamed brownies, krispi tofu spices, cakes, and nagasari. Partners also have knowledge about other benefits of sorghum, namely as a renewable energy source. Sorghum stalks are known to contain bioethanol as fuel. Programs like this are very important to carry out, especially for people living in rural areas that have the potential for developing sorghum areas so that the program will be sustainable.

Abstract

Peningkatan produksi sorgum dapat dilakukan melalui perbaikan kultur penanaman dan perakitan varietas. Pemberian input yang tepat dan sesuai serta penggunaan varietas yang benar berdasarkan tujuan penanaman dapat mengurangi resiko kegagalan dalam budidaya sorgum terutama di lahan-lahan yang termasuk marginal. Penelitian diatur menggunakan metode rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) faktorial. Faktor yang diteliti adalah pengaplikasian serbuk cangkang telur yang terdiri dari tanpa pemberian, pemberian 15 g/polybag, pemberian 20 g/polybag, dan pemberian 25 g/polybag. Faktor kedua adalah varietas terdiri dari Numbu, Kawali, dan UPCA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian serbuk cangkang telur berakibat pada pertumbuhan tanaman sorgum yang lebih baik terhadap variabel tinggi tanaman, berat basah batang, berat kering batang,  panjang akar, jumlah akar, berat basah akar dan berat kering akar dan juga memiliki respon terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif sorgum. Varietas Pahat memiliki pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tanaman sorgum yang terbaik dibandingkan degan varietas UPCA dan Numbu.Kata kunci: sorgum, cangkang telur, pertumbuhan, aplikasi

Abstract

The mushroom in the Acehnese language is called the bowl/addy straw mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) including the most well known fungi among several species of mushrooms cultivated in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of the thickness of the casing and the composition of the media on the yield of mushroom (Volvariella volvaceae) using a Factorial Randomized Design with three replications. The first factor is the composition of the media and the second factor is the thickness of the casing. Data analysis was done by using SAS V9.12 software and advanced test with Duncan test at 5% level. This experiment showed that there is a significant effect on the interaction between the treatment of the media composition and the thickness treatment of the casing (K1C1 and K0C1) on the head body weight per harvest period, and there is no interaction with other variables. While the composition of the media singularly significant effect on the length of the fruit body and the number of fruit body in the treatment of the composition of oil palm empty bunches + lime + bran + cornflour (K1). In other variables, although statistically not yet showing the difference, but on average it appears that the medium of oil palm empty bunches + lime + bran + cornflour (K1) has the frequency of harvest, fruit body diameter, fruit body length and total body weight and fruit weight is higher than the treatment others. While the average appearance of mushroom pin head of the highest value is in treatment (K0). Average treatment without casing (C0) in addition to affect the body length of the fruit (fruting body) also gives the highest value on the appearance of pin head (going to fruit body), harvest frequency, body diameter. While the appearance of the pin head, the number of fruit body and body weight of mushroom fruit perang has the highest value on the 5 cm thickness casing treatment (C1)
