Abstract

The nutritional status of children under five years old has an impact on the physical, motor and intelligence development. Malnutrition causes multisystem disorders that result in imbalance of the body and stunted growth. This study aims to identify the risk factor of malnutrition based on family income, history of low birth weight, energy-protein intake at Puskesmas Cimahi Selatan. The research design used case control study. The sample of cases were children under five who have malnutrition based on the weight-for-age index as much as 38 childrens, while the control sample were children with not malnutrition. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Measuring variables of family income, history of LBW through interviews, energy-protein intake used food recall 2x24 hour. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate with Chi-Square test. The variables related with malnutrition were family income (p-value= 0.001; OR= 2.39; 95%CI= 1.36-4.20), history of LBW (p-value= 0.003; OR= 2.17; 95%CI= 1.55-3.03) and energy intake (p = 0.004), variable protein intake was not significant (p-value= 1.0). The risk factors malnutrition are family income, history of low birth weight, and energy intake. Malnutrition can be prevented with monitoring growth and development and fulfilling the nutritional intake of children under five, especially energy.

Abstract

The prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) continued to increase. The purpose of this study was to early detect the risk factors of non-communicable diseases, such as hypertension and T2DM. The research design used a cross-sectional study. The samples were lecturers and educational staffs at the Faculty of Health Science and Technology, University of Jenderal Achmad Yani Cimahi who were > 35 years, namely 61 people. The sampling technique used systematic random sampling. The data analysis was univariate and bivariate by chi-square test, regression and Pearson correlation. The results showed that there were 39.3% of patients with hypertension and 9.8% of patients with T2DM. The risk factor of hypertension was overweight (p value 0.018), while the risk factors of T2DM were history of diabetes (p value 0.43) and overweight (p value 0.020). Age and Body Mass Index (BMI) were positively correlated with systolic blood pressure and blood sugar levels, meaning that the higher the age and BMI, the higher the blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Controlling the occurrence of hypertension and T2DM can be done by reducing BMI.

Abstract

Risky sexual behavior among adolescents is a public health issue influenced by various factors. This study was motivated by the serious consequences of such behavior on adolescents' physical, mental, and social health, including unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, exposure to reproductive health information, social life, and parenting style with risky sexual behavior among adolescents. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample was selected using proportional random sampling from junior and senior high school students in Sukanagara Subdistrict, Cianjur Regency, totaling 334 respondents based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed through univariate analysis, bivariate analysis using the chi-square test, and multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression. Multivariate analysis revealed significant relationships between knowledge (p=0.019), attitudes (p=0.031), and gender (p=0.021) and risky sexual behavior. However, no significant associations were found with exposure to reproductive health information, parenting style, or social life. Knowledge was identified as the most dominant factor influencing risky sexual behavior among adolescents. It is recommended that reproductive health education for adolescents be enhanced through approaches that involve schools, families, and communities in order to reduce risky sexual behavior.

Abstract

Unsafe behavior is widely recognized as the primary cause of workplace accidents. To encourage safe work practices, organizations must implement an effective safety management system that emphasizes strong leadership, clear communication, and genuine commitment to safety. This study aims to assess the influence of these three components, safety leadership, communication, and commitment on workers’ safety behavior. A cross-sectional design was employed, with data collected from 80 respondents at Platform A of PT. X through total sampling. The study used a structured questionnaire adapted from the 2024 Indonesia Oil and Gas Safety Management System Assessment Guidelines. The dependent variable was safety behavior. The independent variables included safety leadership, safety communication, and safety commitment. Data analysis involved univariate, bivariate (chi-square), and multivariate (binary logistic regression) techniques. Findings indicate that all three safety management components significantly impact workers’ safety behavior (p=0,0001). Among them, safety leadership emerged as the most influential factor (PR=12,701). Based on these results, it is recommended that PT. X strengthen its safety leadership practices through more proactive, consistent, and visible engagement by leaders in the field.
