Abstract

This research was motivated by the Covid-19 pandemic that struck the world from March 2020 until today. This pandemic has changed the religious ritual of the Catholic religion around the world from the model of Mass congregation at church to online mass congregation at their homes. This mass congregation service at home indeed changed social interaction patterns. This research aims to investigate whether people's piety and social solidarity also changed with the mass service at home. By combining qualitative and quantitative methods during the last five months, this research finally found that, on the contrary, people's piety and social solidarity improved. It turns out that they are far more religious in their lives and very care about the catholic follower's life and other religious believers. This research has also made the church conduct paradigm reform in serving the people. The church has conducted a new kind of service in this New Normal era, i.e., Profilingcustomers. The church has studied their served people thoroughly. How is their profile, what do they need, and their expectation? The church has set customer focus, friendly, consistent, and continuous improvement. It is an effort to establish the people to the new performance style. The church is expected to keep on formulating new ways to overcome the shock of appreciation of faith due to this pandemic. In life, faith always has ups and downs; that is a portrait of human nature. This era is uncertain, but people will survive and live on. We are looking at the new face of the church, especially regarding piety and social solidarity of the people.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the very diverse understanding of the Dayak people about Jubata. The purpose of this research was to find the concept of Jubata that fits the beliefs of the Dayak people outside the influence of Catholicism. The research method was qualitatively descriptive with an ethnographic approach. The research team was the key research instrument, where the research subjects were customary stakeholders and traditional practitioners who are in the research location. Data collection techniques by interviewing research subjects. Data analysis was carried out by codifying and grouping data based on the answers to the interviews conducted. The grouping results were then interpreted and then discussed again with the leaders in the form of a Focus Group Discussion. Thus the concept obtained was a joint conclusion of the parties involved in the research. The results showed that Jubata, which is believed by the Kanayatn Dayak people, is everywhere. Jubata lives close to human life, such as in homes, ritual areas (usually indicated by the sound of the keto bird), farming areas, gardens, settlements and in areas where people are active. The concept of Jubata is heavily influenced by the Hindu belief that there are many Gods, while Catholics believe in one God. Academically, the results of this study can be used as a reference for dialectics related to the Kanayatn Dayak Belief System. The Research Team has succeeded in uncovering the concept of Jubata which is believed by the Kanayatn Dayak people who tend to be Syncretistic. Dayak people believe in God according to their religion but also believe in Jubata according to the beliefs of their ancestors. Jubata is pragmatically the same as God but spiritually Jubata is different from God. Ambiguity regarding this occurs because the religion adopted is different from the belief system that is believed. The Kanayatn Dayak people are indeed at a crossroads, whether to Heaven or Subayatn.

Abstract

This activity is motivated by developments in science and technology, especially in the field of telecommunications, which are currently sweeping the world. As future leaders of the people who are expected by the church to be able to actively develop church life, they are required to be wiser and able to teach young Catholics around them regarding the main negative impacts of the development of telecommunications technology. With the development of science and digital, humans experience amnesia, forgetting their identity. This is also what is happening to young Catholics in the Sanggau Diocese who are being hit by the mastery of science and the development of the digital world. This community service was carried out for two days, in the Beduai parish in the Sanggau Diocese. The method of this activity is education for young people, starting with the presentation of material in each session and continuing with reflection in the form of revealing responses from the participants. The atmosphere of the activity was held in a lively manner accompanied by music. This activity was successful in increasing teenagers' understanding of leadership and efforts to overcome the impact of developments in communication technology that could threaten their Catholic faith.

Abstract

This research is motivated by a religious moderation program that is being developed by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. Apart from that, the border as this country's front porch with neighboring countries needs to be empowered by its people. Communities on the border, who are generally Dayak, need to explore their culture. Dayak people's understanding of religious moderation is also still limited. The aim of this research is to find a formula for social capital in developing religious moderation in border areas. The research method is descriptive qualitative with an ethnographic approach. The research team is the research subject, where the objects are traditional stakeholders and community leaders at the research location. Data collection techniques by interviewing research objects. Data analysis was carried out by codifying and grouping data based on answers to interviews conducted. The results of the grouping were then interpreted and then discussed again with the figures in the form of a Focus Group Discussion. In this way, the concept obtained is a joint conclusion of the parties involved in the research. The results of the research are that the social capital of border communities to develop religious moderation is very high. Social capital takes the form of good social interaction, customs and religious life. In border areas, although the conditions for providing education are still limited, they are inclusive. Academically, the results of this research can be used as a reference for developing a model of religious moderation.
