Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe students' critical thinking skills on the material of Electrolyte and Non-Electrolyte Solutions in class X SMA Negeri 6 Sigi. This type of research was descriptive quantitative. In the learning process, the teacher used Google Drive and the Whatsapp application as online learning media. The data collected was the form of critical thinking ability test results that obtained through giving questions in the form of online essays. Furthermore, the data were collected and analyzed based on indicators of critical thinking skills which including interpretation, analysis, inference, and evaluation. The results of data analysis on critical thinking skills of students of class X MIA 1 on the indicators of interpretation, analysis, inference, and evaluation were 51%, 41%, 42%, and 47%, respectively. The average result for all indicators of critical thinking ability of students in class X MIA 1 was 45%. For class X MIA 2, 51%, 39%, 36% and 41% respectively. Overall, the results of the critical thinking skills of class X student was 43.5%. This result shows that the critical thinking ability of students in the class X SMA Negeri 6 Sigi was in a low category

Abstract

Fish bones are one of the solid wastes from fish processing. Utilization of fish bones into flour can be an alternative in tackling fish bones. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of calcium (Ca) in the bones of eel (Anguilla marmorata) in Poso Lake. Calcium levels were determined using complexometric titration. The results showed that the calcium levels in eel bones were 31.2426 mg/100g, 28.4568 mg/100g and 26.052 mg/100g.

Abstract

National education emphasizes learning on assessing students' knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The development of skills aspect is not enough only relying on the learning in the classroom, but also necessary doing understanding outside the classroom such as practicum in the laboratory. The implementation of training allows students to practice their skills and help students understand the material taught in the class. This study aimed to describe the quality of students' skills on reaction rate topics through a practicum in grade XI at SMA Negeri 5 Palu. This type of research was a quantitative descriptive study with a one-shot case study design. Sampling was conducted by purposive sampling. The sample was Class XI Science 2 as the experimental class 1 with 23 students and Class XI Science 3 as the experimental class 2 with 25 students. The quality skill of students was measured by instruments in the form of observation sheets as the primary data. The data obtained through the observation sheet showed that the average percentage of all aspects of student skills in experimental class 1 was 74.81%, and in experimental class 2 was 74.05%. It indicates that the ten skills elements have emerged in the learning activities with a good category. This study concludes that the quality skill of grade XI students at SMA Negeri 5 Palu on learning reaction rate topic through practicum is a good category.

Abstract

Development research has been carried out to produce a high school chemistry learning module that oriented Central Sulawesi’s local wisdom in acid-base solutions. This research was conducted using research and development (R&D) methods. The goal of this study was to ascertain the validity and applicability of the developed learning modules. Development of the learning module is expected to be used by teachers as users and for students in their independent learning, increasing the understanding of concepts and getting to know local wisdom in the Central Sulawesi region. The validity of the learning module was determined by a validation test conducted by specialists in the topic, medium, and user. In contrast, the practicality of the learning module was determined by the outcomes of the module's implementation by students. The validation results showed that the average score of the material expert of 2,66 was categorized as “valid,” the average score of the media expert was 3,29 with the category “valid,” and the average score of the user was 3,53 with the category “valid.” The results implementation of learning modules using students' response questionnaires obtained respectively, a percentage of 29% of students responded was “very practical,” 64,4% of students responded war “practical,” 6% of students responded was “impractical,” and 0% of students respond was “very impractical.” Based on these results, it can be concluded that the development module was “valid” and “practical” in using the learning process.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the percentage of misconceptions that occur in students on colloid material in class XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Dampal Selatan Kabupaten Tolitoli is based on the results of a three-level diagnostic test and shows which subconcepts have the highest and lowest conceptions. The instrument used in this study was a three-level multiple choice diagnostic test. The results showed students' misconceptions about colloid material in class XI MIPA 2, which was 65.51%. The results of this study indicate that the level of students' misconceptions about colloidal material is a high category.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of student learning outcomes in class XI Science 3 as the experimental class using the Problem Based Learning model and XI Science 4 as the control using the Direct Instruction learning model on the buffer solution material at SMAN 5 Model Palu. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research with a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The population was student of class at XI Science 3 and at XI Science 4 at SMAN 5 Model Palu. The sampling technique used is pourposive sampling, which is one of the non-random sampling technique where the researcher determines the sampling by determining the special characteristics that are in accordance with the research objectives. The sample in this study was 26 students in the experimental class and 26 students in the control class. Testing the research data using a one-party t-test statistical analysis with prerequisite tests, namely normality, and homogeneity tests. The results of data analysis obtained in the experimental class the value of X̅1 is 75.23 with a standard deviation = 11.58 while in the control class the value of X̅2 is 68.88 with a tandard deviation = 11.07. The result of hypothesis test was tcount ≥ ttable whis is 2.08 ≥ 1.67 with a significant level (α) of 0.05 and degrees of freedom of 50. This means that Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted. So the study concludes that the Problem Based learning model has a better effect than the Direct Instruction learning model toward students learning outcomes in Buffer Solution.
