Abstract

This paper aims to analyze conflict resolution in South Buru during the regional election through a cultural approach. The conflict in the South Buru Regency was caused by dissatisfaction with the election results. This study uses qualitative tool analysis by choosing Nvivo as a computer assistant program to answer the question; the data in this study were sourced from direct observation and interviews during the conflict resolution process, and informants were selected based on the representation of each group. This analysis shows that the conflict in regional elections is caused by two dominant factors, namely the traditional doctrine of indigenous peoples. Meanwhile, the approach used in resolving regional election conflicts is an accommodation approach and a local wisdom approach. This study classifies that traditional communities in resolving conflicts tend to use a traditional approach, even though the category of conflict is not a cultural conflict. Exploring this conflict approach, Nvivo proves this by showing a correlation between the conflict approach and the conflict caused.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out what types of racism are experienced by TikTok users who have an account named @mingokwamkilama16. This research is to find out what racist words are expressed by TikTok users. Besides that, it also wants to find out what types of racism are happening. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze social media data, namely with NVivo 12Plus to analyze TikTok social media content and data. The data is taken from the TikTok account @mingokwamkilama16, consists of 5 contents, and gets data of 50 discriminatory comments. The results show that the Papuan tribe often experiences acts of racism when using social media, such as creating content on the Tiktok application, and creating an @mingokwamkilama16 account, which is often discriminated against by other Tiktok users. Of the three indicators studied, the most dominant is discrimination on race, which reaches 70% of the data. This shows that racial discrimination is prevalent, this attitude can make account users feel hurt, and many are physically disturbed. Papuan people are also part of Indonesia, but Indonesian people are also racist toward them. There are still many Tiktok users who lack education about Indonesian races.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic  not only causes health problems but also affects the level of social trust. Low social trust occurs in the public sphere and transforms in the digital space. This situation was then deemed necessary to rebuild social capital. This study aims to prove that there are still opportunities in times of crisis  where social capital can be re-formed, depending  on how social networks initiate voluntary activism on social media. This study used a quantitative approach. Data were collected from Twitter using Ncapture.  The data including information on COVID-19 cases were later analysed using the Nvivo 12 Plus software.  This study found that there is a possibility and opportunity  that  low social trust caused by  the COVID-19 pandemic can still be restored in times of crisis, at least by utilizing social media as a social networking center. Social networks on Twitter slowly shape cooperative behavior and social trust, and influence collectivities in rebuilding social capital.

Abstract

This study is based on the events of acts of terrorism and the finding of radicalization efforts in Indonesia. This situation requires a response from many parties, including civil society, that is more participatory in supporting deradicalization efforts. This study aims to analyze the role of social media in influencing the narrative and interest of community collectivities in the deradicalization movement in Indonesia. The method used is quantitative discourse analysis. The data source is social media Twitter, with analysis tools using Nvivo 12 Plus. The study findings explain that Twitter social media can be an alternative in forming participatory, educative, and preventive narratives against deradicalization efforts in Indonesia. The use of social media Twitter can also influence the community's collective interest to get involved in opposing radicalism, whether online or in public space. The results of this research is that deradicalization efforts can also be carried out by utilizing social media, especially by maximizing hashtag and meme features. This finding is an essential argument that deradicalization efforts cannot be carried out with the same approach as shown by radicalism, in that deradicalization is not carried out with arrogance or violence but with a more educative participatory approach. This approach maximizes the potential of social media, which has proven to be more accommodating to reaching the wider community and is more participatory. The substance of this study is seen as a recommendation for maximizing the deradicalization movement in countering radicalism in Indonesia. The limitations of this study are in the research method, which only analyzes specific data sources, so further research is needed that can utilize data sources, especially in exploring data sources from other social media platforms.
