Abstract

Abstract

The digital transformation in healthcare encourages hospitals to integrate information systems to improve service efficiency, data accuracy, and coordination across units. Aisyiyah Hospital has implemented the Hospital Management Information System (SIMRS) in all service units, including the outpatient department. However, its implementation still encounters several obstacles that affect the smoothness of administrative processes and the quality of patient services. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive explorative design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with outpatient administrative staff who directly operate SIMRS in daily activities, supported by field observations of workflow and system performance. Informants were selected using purposive sampling based on their experience and operational involvement. The data were analyzed using a narrative thematic method to identify key barriers, impacts, and adaptive solutions. The findings indicate that SIMRS implementation in the outpatient unit of Aisyiyah Hospital has not yet been optimal. Major challenges include limited network and hardware infrastructure, uneven human resource readiness, and the persistence of manual work culture. These barriers lead to delays in service delivery, data entry errors, and weak inter-unit data integration. To address these issues, staff coordinate with the IT team during system disruptions, use manual recording as a temporary measure, and conduct internal peer learning to improve system utilization. The results highlight that the success of SIMRS implementation depends not only on technological capability but also on infrastructure readiness, user competence, and organizational work culture transformation. System optimization requires managerial support through infrastructure enhancement, structured technical training, and consistent supervision of system use in each unit to ensure that SIMRS functions effectively in supporting patient care.

Abstract

Improving equitable inpatient service quality remains a critical challenge in Indonesia following the implementation of the Standard Inpatient Care Class policy. This study examined the relationship between policy implementation, service quality dimensions, and patient satisfaction at RAA Soewondo Pati Regional Hospital. A quantitative cross-sectional design was employed involving 150 inpatients selected through simple random sampling from a population of 235 standard-class patients. Data were collected using a structured SERVQUAL questionnaire covering reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, tangibles, and overall satisfaction. Descriptive statistics, Chi-square tests, and Spearman rank correlation were applied. Results showed that most respondents rated service quality positively: reliability (90.0%), responsiveness (91.3%), assurance (80.7%), empathy (85.3%), and tangibles (79.3%). Overall, 87.3% of patients reported satisfaction. Chi-square analysis indicated that only age was significantly associated with satisfaction (p < 0.001). Spearman analysis confirmed a positive correlation between age and satisfaction (rs = 0.233; p = 0.004) and between tangibles and satisfaction (rs = 0.201; p = 0.014). Reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy, and gender were not significantly related to satisfaction (p > 0.05). The findings suggest that the policy has effectively improved structural and physical aspects of care, while interpersonal service dimensions remain relatively uniform. Hospitals should prioritize facility enhancement alongside communication and empathy training to further improve patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Effective medical equipment management is crucial for ensuring patient safety and service quality. Observations at the Inpatient Installation of RS Nurussyifa Kudus revealed that 25% of the 12 examined medical device types were problematic (including infusion pumps and nebulizers requiring recalibration, and uncalibrated digital thermometers), posing a risk of increased diagnostic errors and operational disruptions if not addressed promptly. To evaluate the monitoring and control processes of medical equipment in hospital inpatient units to ensure compliance with national health standards. This qualitative descriptive study was conducted at the Inpatient Installation of RS Nurussyifa Kudus in November 2025. Data were collected through direct observation of medical equipment conditions, interviews with electromedical technicians and nursing staff, and a review of maintenance documentation based on the Ministry of Health regulations regarding technical requirements for hospital infrastructure and equipment. Data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that while most medical equipment is in good condition and functioning optimally, gaps exist in the calibration schedule for certain devices such as infusion pumps and nebulizers. The current maintenance system relies heavily on periodic technical inspections, highlighting an urgent need to transition to digital documentation to improve monitoring accuracy and early detection of performance declines. The implementation of a systematic and digital-based medical equipment management strategy is vital to minimize operational risks. Continuous training for medical staff and strict adherence to calibration schedules are recommended to maintain healthcare quality and patient safety.

Abstract

The hospital environment and workplace safety support the quality of health care services provided to clients. The emergency department environment is characterized by high occupational risks, intensive work activities, high patient volumes, and exposure to numerous environmental hazards. The study aims to evaluate the control of the occupational health and safety environment in the emergency department of a regional hospital and its compliance corrections to Indonesian standards. The said study used a descriptive insights design conducted in the Emergency Department of a regional hospital in Pati, Indonesia, from January to March 2026. The parameters of the physical environment variables were temperature, humidity, noise, and lighting. Data collection involved direct insights, measurement of environmental variables using standard instruments, and interviews with key respondents selected through purposive sampling. The OHS manager is responsible for environmental health and OHS in the hospital. Data were analyzed descriptively by comparing measurement results according to the Indonesian Minister of Health Regulation No. 66 of 2016. The results describe environmental conditions that generally comply with national standards for hospital occupational safety. Room temperature at 25°C, humidity at 67.5 percent, noise level at 60 decibels, and lighting intensity up to 300 lux. On the other hand, operational issues were identified, including poor air circulation, increased room density during peak service hours, and psychosocial workload on health care workers. In conclusion, the study identified that the environmental control program in the emergency unit met Indonesian safety standards. To ensure a safe work environment and excellent service quality in hospitals, it is necessary to verify room ventilation, manage patient flow during peak hours, and provide stress management training for health care workers.
