Abstract

ABSTRACT Degenerative diseases are often found in people in ndonesia, such as cancer, atherosclerosis, rheumatism, coronary heart disease, cataracts and diabetes mellitus. One of the causes of degenerative diseases is free radicals. Antioxidants are compounds that can neutralize free radicals by donating their electrons to free radical compounds. One of the bioactive compounds that have a role as antioxidant activity is favonoids. Many flavonoid compounds are contained in the yellow skin of ripe bananas. The purpose of this study was to determine the antioxidant activity of cotton banana skin in hand and body lotion preparations. This antioxidant analysis used the FRAP and DPPH methods and the determination of total phenol content and total flavonoid content. In the phytochemical screening test, cotton banana skin extract showed positive phenolic compounds, flavonoids, saponins, terpenoids and tannins. The results of the measurement of total phenol were 28.225 mg GAE/g extract, while the total flavonoid value was 69.26 mg QE/g exiract. The measurement results of the antioxidant activity of the cotton banana skin cxtract (Musa paradisiaca L.) using the FRAP method were 368,700=1 mol Fe2+/g extract and the DPPH method obtained an IC50 value of 13.169 g/mL. In the hand and body lotion preparation, the highest antioxidant activity was found in formula 3, namely 1958,033 + 8,08 mol Fe2+/g and the IC50 value was 2,417 g/mL. The results were statistically analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) then Tukey's test was performed which yielded a value of 0.05 indicating that there were differences in the antioxidant activity of the extract samples in the FRAP method and the DPPH method.

Abstract

Piroxicam is one of the NSAID drug that common used in inflammation. Utilizing of herbal medicine along with synthetic drugs can lead to certain interactions, especially the occurrence of pharmacokinetic drug profile changes. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of addition of soursop leaf extract againt pharmacokinetic piroxicam profile. The method used was cross sectional using 6 rabbits, the data were analyzed statistically with t-test using SPSS version 21 program. The results showed that the piroxicam treatment had Cmax = 0.650 μg / ml, tmax = 3 hours, t ½ = 0.693 hours, and AUC = 0.597 hours.μg / ml, while on treatment of combination of piroksikam with soursop leaf extract have value of Cmax = 0,683 μg / ml, tmax = 1 hour, t ½ = 0,693 hours, and AUC = 0,652 jam.μg / ml. The result of data analysis using T test showed that there was significant difference in AUC value (p <0,05). These results suggest that the addition of soursop leaf extract may affect the piroxicam pharmacokinetic profile.

Abstract

egenerative diseases are often experienced by the elderly, such as gout, high blood pressure, arthritis, high cholesterol and diabetes. Therefore, elderly people need to know more about diseases and treatments that can be used to prevent or reduce their symptoms. Community service activities were carried out targeting elderly mothers at the Miftahul Jannah Islamic Boarding Pimpinan Daerah ‘Aisyiyah (PDA) Pekalongan Regency. A total of 63 participants took part in this activity. This activity aims to provide knowledge about disease information and safe treatment of degenerative diseases in the elderly. The implementation method used the lecture and discussion method. Knowledge assessment was taken through a closed questionnaire and participants' responses during the discussion session. The conclusion that can be drawn from this activity is that elderly people need knowledge about medicines for degenerative diseases, which are common diseases suffered by elderly people. Participants enthusiastically paid attention and asked questions during the activity.

Abstract

Hiperuresemia merupakan keadaan kadar asam urat dalam darah melebihi normal (> 7,0 mg/dL). Pada stadium lanjut, hiperuresemia menyebabkan kerusakan sendi dan penyakiy gout/pirai. Pepaya perupakan tanaman buah yang tersebar luar di seluruh Indonesia. Kulit buah pepaya dianggap sebai limbah dan kurang bermanfaat. Kulit pepaya mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder meliputi alkaloid, fenolik, tanin, saponin, dan flavonoid yang dapat digunakan sebagai antioksidan, hiperglikemik, antimikroba dan obat cacing. Pengobatan asam urat dengan mengunakan kulit buah pepaya sampai sekarang belum diteliti. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas penghambatan xantin oksidase ekstrak etanol dan fraksi kulit buah pepaya secara in vitro. Proses penelitian diawali dengan ekstraksi kulit buah pepaya (Carica papya. L) dengan etanol 96 %, selanjutanya proses farksinasi menggunakan metode partisi cair-cair dengan corong pisah. Pengujian penghambatan aktivitas enzim xantin oksidase secara in vitro menggunakan spektrofotometer UV/VIS.. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol, fraksi etenol, fraksi etil asetat dan fraksi heksane menunjukkan aktivitas penghambatan enzim xantin oksidase dengan nilai IC50 masing-masing sebesar 187,558 ± 20,862; 56,755 ± 3,821; 48,543 ± 1,440 dan 110,213 ± 15,577 ppm.Kata Kunci : Carica papaya, Xantin oksidase, Antihiperuresemia
