Abstract

Student nutritional status is a crucial indicator of health and development, particularly regarding adequate nutrition. One effective intervention to enhance nutritional status is providing high-protein snacks. Indonesia's Genius Program aims to improve child nutrition through targeted interventions in select schools nationwide, including 17 schools in Aceh. Quantitative study analyzed the impact of high-protein snacks on student nutritional status in West Aceh elementary schools using secondary data from the 2023 Genius Program. Employing a quantitative design and Wilcoxon statistical analysis, 339 students were categorized into three nutritional status groups based on BMI-for-age z-scores: undernutrition, good nutrition, and overnutrition. Results showed that 14-day high-protein snack provision significantly improved student nutritional status, increasing good nutrition proportions and reducing undernutrition cases. The Genius Program in West Aceh elementary schools (2023) effectively enhanced student nutritional status by reducing undernutrition and increasing good nutrition proportions. Recommendations include extending program duration and expanding sample sizes for future research generalization.

Abstract

Cholesterol is a fat compound produced by the body and also found in animals. There are two types of cholesterol that play a role in various body functions, namely LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) and HDL (High Density Lipoprotein). This study aims to determine the relationship between fast food and fiber intake and cholesterol in nutrition students class of 2021 at Teuku Umar University. This research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional design. The sample selected was 52 people from 164 populations using simple random sampling technique. Data was collected by distributing food frequency questionnaires and 24 hour food recalls. Data analysis used the chi square test with a significance level of α= 0.05. Results: there was a relationship fast food consumption and cholesterol levels (p = 0.008), fiber intake did not relationship with cholesterol levels (p = 1.000). Conclusion: fast food consumption is related to cholesterol levels, and fiber intake and cholesterol levels are not related. It is recommended to reduce excessive intake of fast food and adopt a healthy and nutritious intake.

Abstract

The activeness of visits to the posyandu is crucial for monitoring children's health and nutrition by regularly weighing toddlers' weight with the Kartu Menuju Sehat (KMS, or Healthy Growth Card). This study aims to determine the factors related to mothers' visits with their toddlers to Posyandu Permata Hati in Drien Rampak Village, West Aceh Regency, in 2024. The quantitative study uses an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consists of all mothers with toddlers aged 0-59 months, with a total sampling method of 87 mothers. The instrument used a questionnaire covering all variables, including maternal knowledge, education, occupation, family support, and visits to the posyandu. The analysis uses the Chi-Square test. The results show no relationship between maternal knowledge (p=1.000) and education (p=1.000), but there is a relationship between maternal occupation (p=0.004) and family support (p=0.000) with visits to the posyandu. The suggestion for the posyandu is to hold regular educational activities to increase mothers' awareness of the importance of visiting the posyandu. For working mothers or those with various other activities, it's essential to schedule time to bring their toddlers to the posyandu.
