Abstract

Mother's milk is the main source of nutrition for babies who are not yet able to consume solid food. Formation of breast milk is influenced by protein, vitamins, fat, water, carbohydrates, fiber and other nutrients. Problem in this study was that the mother did not give breast milk to her baby because the volume of breast milk was small, the mother did not know what foods could increase the volume of breast milk at a relatively low cost. Purpose of this study was to analyze the nutritional value of local foods such as banana blossom and papaya leaves to what extent they are able to increase the volume of breast milk in breastfeeding mothers.Research method uses pre-experimental tests (non-design) and socialization. in the Panton Reu sub-district, West Aceh Regency with a population of 44 breastfeeding mothers, a total sample of 44 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results after conducting research, where the high levels of nutrients contained in the heart of bananas and papaya leaves, these nutrients are related to the formation of breast milk volume. Conclusion of the results of the analysis of nutrients, the banana flower and papaya leaves can be consumed by breastfeeding mothers because of the high levels of nutrients contained therein. According to the analysis of nutrients, banana blossom and papaya leaves need to be used as a mainstay for the family, and further research needs to be done and this research can be used as a reference source. Abstract

Posyandu nutritional status monitoring activities are carried out by posyandu cadres. Quality anthropometric measurement results are influenced by the knowledge and skills of posyandu cadres. The aim of this research was to see whether there was an influence of anthropometric training on the knowledge of posyandu cadres. This research was carried out in Johan Pahlawan District, West Aceh Regency in November-December 2023. Using quantitative research methods and experimental research design with a Quasi Experimental design. The research sample was posyandu cadres in the Johan Pahlawan Community Health Center working area, with a sampling technique namely Multistage Random Sampling. Data processing uses Paired T-test. The results of this research showed a significant difference in the knowledge of posyandu cadres before and after training (p-value> 0.000), and there was an increase in the average value of knowledge of posyandu cadres, where the average value of knowledge before training was 78.62 and after training was 93.46. In conclusion, there is a significant influence between anthropometric training and the knowledge of poyandu cadres and there is a difference in the average knowledge of cadres before and after training for cadres in Johan Pahlawan District.

Abstract

Background: Stunting occurs when a child's height is lower than the average for age due to poor growth caused by chronic malnutrition, which occurs when a child's nutrient intake is inadequate for a long period of time. Stunting may have direct and indirect causes. Direct causes include inadequate nutrition, while indirect causes include parenting. Food consumption is a habit that improves the body's nutritional state in a measurable way. Objective: This study was to determine the relationship between food intake, and maternal parenting patterns with the incidence of stunting in toddlers at the Kuala Bhee Health Center, Woyla Induk District in 2024. Method: Quantitative, observational, cross-sectional techniques were used in this study. June to July 2024 were used for this study. Primary data and secondary data are two categories of data. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test for bivariate and univariate analysis. Results: The findings showed a significant correlation (p value = 0.000 <0.05) between food consumption and the incidence of stunting. P value = 0.002 <0.05, indicating a relationship between maternal parenting patterns and stunting incidence. Conclusion: There is a strong correlation between calorie consumption and stunting. Parental involvement is significantly associated with stunting rates. Suggestion: We hope that Posyandu cadres and Puskesmas officials at the study site will gain a deeper appreciation of the role played by parents in monitoring their toddlers' dietary needs.

Abstract

an important biological sign of pubertal development in girls. The height of adolescent girls can also be affected by early menarche. Adolescent girls are an important investment in the country, as they are the next generation that will shape the future. The progress of the nation is determined by the role of active young women in the family, community, and country. They will be the key to creating positive changes and achieving development goals. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the nutritional status of adolescent girls and age at onset of menarche. This cross-sectional observational study included 70 adolescent girls aged 17-20 years.

Abstract

Student nutritional status is a crucial indicator of health and development, particularly regarding adequate nutrition. One effective intervention to enhance nutritional status is providing high-protein snacks. Indonesia's Genius Program aims to improve child nutrition through targeted interventions in select schools nationwide, including 17 schools in Aceh. Quantitative study analyzed the impact of high-protein snacks on student nutritional status in West Aceh elementary schools using secondary data from the 2023 Genius Program. Employing a quantitative design and Wilcoxon statistical analysis, 339 students were categorized into three nutritional status groups based on BMI-for-age z-scores: undernutrition, good nutrition, and overnutrition. Results showed that 14-day high-protein snack provision significantly improved student nutritional status, increasing good nutrition proportions and reducing undernutrition cases. The Genius Program in West Aceh elementary schools (2023) effectively enhanced student nutritional status by reducing undernutrition and increasing good nutrition proportions. Recommendations include extending program duration and expanding sample sizes for future research generalization.

Abstract

This study developed gluten-free, low-sugar snack bars by valorizing underutilized black rice flour (BR) and rice bran flour (RB) to address health concerns in conventional formulations. Employing a factorial completely randomized design (BR: 10-30%, RB: 10-20%), we evaluated six formulations through proximate analysis, reducing sugar assays, and organoleptic testing (n=75 untrained panelists). The 10% BR + 10% RB formulation emerged as optimal, demonstrating superior sensory acceptance across all parameters (overall hedonic score: 5.53±1.09) and favorable nutritional profile: 5.72% moisture, 25.54% fat, 9.61% protein, and 57.3% carbohydrates. Contrastingly, 20% BR + 10% RB showed the highest reducing sugar content (8.00±0.33 g/mL) but suboptimal sensory appeal. Nutritional variability was formulation-dependent: increased BR substitution elevated moisture (p<0.05) and ash content (p<0.01) due to amylose-mediated water absorption and mineral enrichment, while higher RB proportions reduced carbohydrate content (p<0.01) through nutrient displacement. Although the optimal formulation achieves sensory-nutritional balance, compositional refinement remains necessary for full compliance with Indonesian National Standards (SNI). This research establishes a sustainable framework for transforming agricultural byproducts into functional foods..
