Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a complex group of chronic diseases associated with hyperglycemia, resultingin impaired insulin secretion and other organs. Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus will experience changes inthemselves. Each individual responds and has a different perception of dealing with these changes. Providingeducation aims to increase knowledge and improve the patient’s ability in self-care so that health problems areresolved. Objectives: The study wants to know the effectiveness of Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) onself-acceptance and self-care of Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients.Patient and Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used through one group pre-test and post-test design. Thetotal population is 25 people, with a saturated sampling technique, and a sample of 25 people. Data analysis useda non-parametric statistical test, namely the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: The majority of patients with Diabetes Mellitus had good self-acceptance, and the majority of patients’self-care was found to be good (p=0.000).Conclusions: The resulting study is the effectiveness of DSME on patient self-acceptance and self-care.Recommendations: The DSME program requires involvement in glucose monitoring by health professionals.Providing education to patients effectively provides psychological support and patient self-care.

Abstract

Muscle weakness in stroke patients will affect muscle contraction. Muscle contraction  due to reduced blood supply to the brain, thereby blocking the main nerves of the   brain and spinal cord . Blockage ofa oxygen and nutrientsto the brain causes serious health problems because it can cause hemiparesis and even death . The occurrence    ofa disturbances in the level ofa physical mobilization of patients is often caused by a movement in the form of bed rest. The ofa a weakened muscle condition associated with a lack ofa physical activity usually appear within a few days. Control ofa the brain  to   regulate muscle   movement has decreased function resulting in reduced muscle mass. This studyiaims to determine the effectiveness ofa ROM (range of motion ) on muscle strength in stroke patients at the RoyaliPrima Hospital in Medan. This studyiusedia quasi-experiment with oneigroup pre-posttest. The instrument used is  an observation sheet while the Wilcoxon test is used for testing. Prior to ROM training, most ofa the respondents ' strength was on a scale ofa 3 (67.9 %) and minority   muscle   strength was on a scale of 4 (10.7%). After doing ROM (Range of Motion) exercise there was an increase in muscle strength where the majority muscle strength on a scale ofa 4 was (45.5) and the muscle strength of the minority patient was on a scale ofa 5 (30.0%). There is an Effectiveness ofiROMi (Range of Motion) on Muscle Strength in Stroke Patients at the Royal Prima Hospital Medan in 2021 with p-value of 0.004.Keywords: ROM, Exercises , Muscle Strength

Abstract

Post-craniotomy patients with intracranial tumors commonly experience respiratory instability, impaired cerebral perfusion, decreased consciousness, and immobilization requiring intensive nursing care in the Intensive Care Unit. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of passive Range of Motion (ROM) intervention in improving respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and physiological responses in post-craniotomy patients. The study used a descriptive qualitative case study approach involving a 58-year-old male patient treated in the ICU of RSU Royal Prima Medan in March 2026. Data were obtained through clinical observation, respiratory assessment, vital sign monitoring, and medical record documentation using SDKI, SIKI, and SLKI standards. The findings indicated clinical improvement characterized by decreased respiratory rate, stable oxygen saturation, reduced ronchi and bloody sputum, lower restlessness, and improved activity tolerance. Passive ROM intervention contributed to physiological stabilization and prevention of immobilization-related complications during intensive care. These findings demonstrate that evidence-based nursing care supports neurocritical recovery and postoperative rehabilitation outcomes in post-craniotomy patients.
