Abstract

The importance of inculcating character values to children, especially in elementary schools, can have an impact on the development of the character that is in them. This character learning can be done in various ways, one of which is through story books. Currently, there are many story books in circulation, one of which is the storybook of Suku Penunggang Layang-layang by Tere Liye. This book contains many character values that can be used as a source of character learning in children. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis methods with data analysis techniques from Miles and Huberman. The results of the analysis that have been carried out show that in the story book of Suku Penunggang Layang-layang there are 11 character values out of 18 character values according to the Ministry of Education and Culture, namely; 1) hard work as much as 4 pieces of the story. 2) discipline as much as 4 fragments of the story, 3) independent as much as 2 fragments of the story, 4) honest as much as 6 fragments of the story, 5) social care as much as 12 fragments of the story, 6) responsibility as much as 3 fragments of the story, 7) curiosity as much as 6, 8) confident as many as 9 story fragments, 9) appreciating achievements as many as 11 story fragments, 10) helping as many as 6 story fragments, and 11) national spirit as much as 3 story fragments. Furthermore, the results of the analysis of character values in this book can be used as an alternative media of learning in elementary schools, in the form of zigzag book.

Abstract

This research focuses on language error analysis in news texts on online portals. The formulation of the problem in this study is to analyze news writing errors on online portals, one of which is on the February 2024 edition of kompas.com. News can be presented in physical form in the form of newspapers, besides that news can also be presented through online media. Online media or online portals are famous for their speed in spreading information and always updating information that is trending in the community. However, because of this speed, there are often language errors in its presentation. This researebch was carried out to find language errors in the news text on the online portal, be it type process errors, inaccuracies in the preparation process, or inaccuracies in the use of language rules that occur purely from the management or author. Qualitative research is included in the methodology used for this research procedure to produce descriptive data. The technique used in this study is the reading and recording technique. This research uses syntax analysis techniques as data analysis techniques. Based on the analysis that has been done on the news text of the online portal, 2-word omissions, 6-word additions, 3-word subtractions, 10-word formation errors, and 1 punctuation error. In this study, apart from being used to analyze language errors, this research also has the benefit of making online news texts, one of which is the February 2024 edition of the Kompas.com portal to be more easily understood, especially for critical reading teaching materials.

Abstract

The rapid development of language means that young people, such as students, must understand the proper and correct use of language. People need information for learning and entertainment purposes. For this reason, educational viewing is needed to uphold the factuality and up-to-dateness of the information on YouTube. This research focuses more on analyzing facts about animals, in addition to analyzing elocutionary speech acts in videos. This research is based on two reasons, namely practical and theoretical reasons. For practical reasons for conducting this research, it was found that many elocutionary speech acts on the Sisi Terang YouTube channel had an animal theme, in the playlist, we found discussions about animal facts. Apart from that, this research was conducted to provide information about things correlated with illocutionary speech acts, which are widel implemented in human life and can classify the form, function, and types of illocutionary speech acts. Qualitative research is included in this research methodology so that it can produce descriptive data. The techniques used in this research are note-taking techniques and pragmatic analysis techniques to produce data. Matched data and collection techniques are also used in this analysis when presented as formal and informal data. Based on the study on the Bright Side YouTube Channel with an Animal Theme in the Form of Locutionary Speech Acts, 62 news sentences, 32 question sentences, and 49 command sentences were found. In addition to being used in this research to analyze the form of illocutionary speech acts on the Animal-Themed Bright Side YouTube Channel, this research also has the benefit of adding new insight into the study of pragmatics, specifically in the use of social media.
