Abstract

Social events are part of human life, peace, conflicts occur one after another. At the end of February 2022 the world was shocked by the Russian military attack on Ukrainian territory. The world community hopes Russia can stop the attack but it still happens. In March 2022 Japan's Ogaki Poster Museum summoned poster artists (poster call) around the world to participate in voicing their opinions through art posters with the NO WAR theme, in response to the events above. The author of the article responded to this call by sending 2 posters that represented this social problem through a symbolic illustration approach on the poster. The selection through a symbolic illustration approach is considered appropriate because it can have a complex context so that the message conveyed easily and quickly reaches the audience. To underlie the design of symbolic illustrations, research and design methods are used, namely, Components of Illustration Media consist of 4 stages, namely Context, Encoders, Code, and Decoder. Abstract

In accordance with one of the elements of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, Community Service was carried out through Contemporary Illustration Art Education training at PKBM Negeri 26 Bintaro, South Jakarta. The purpose of this training is to provide knowledge and briefing to students about the development of the world of illustration which is currently growing rapidly, especially in Indonesia. The basis of illustration is drawing, in this training students are given teaching and guidance on drawing illustrations through a contemporary illustration approach. The meaning of the word contemporary means "modern" or "current", then translated by a spontaneous experiment through character drawings and narration. Students experiment without being burdened with guilt (proportion or not) to produce narrated contemporary illustrations. The use of marker/felt tip pen materials supports the spontaneity and courage of students in drawing illustrations because the resulting lines are not easily erased and are as they are, like a child who draws spontaneously and happily

Abstract

Childhood is an important period where parents have the opportunity to teach many things, one of which is anger management for the development of a child's emotional intelligence. However, the limited media available for parents to teach this independently at home presents its own challenges. In child counseling practice, counselors use various non-digital physical tools to maximize children's sensory involvement through images, colors, and interactivity. This approach can also be applied to a more familiar medium, such as an interactive fable illustration storybook equipped with parental guidance. The design process was carried out using the Design Thinking method and involved collaboration with a child counselor to ensure the project’s relevance and effectiveness. Prototype testing with the target audience showed that children gained a better understanding of how to manage and express anger, while parents found the book relevant and useful as a tool to open discussions with their children. This project demonstrates that the topic of anger management can be introduced in an enjoyable way through interactive visual media that supports involvement from both children and parents.
