Abstract

Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah bertambahnya pembendaharaan kata dalam bahasa Inggris bagi anak-anak terutama untuk materi dengan topik “feelings and emotions” yang dapat membantu mereka nanti pada saat mendeskripsikan tempat wisata disekitar mereka dan melayani para tamu asing dengan penggunaan bahasa yang benar dan santun. Hal ini bisa membantu anak-anak untuk dapat mempromosikan tempat wisata kepada pengunjung international. Anak-anak akan dilatih untuk menggunakan kata yang berkaitan dengan “feelings and emotions” dalam bahasa Inggris sederhana. Anak-anak yang menjadi sasaran dari kegiatan ini berjumlah 27 orang yang berlokasi di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri SATAP No. 5 Kecamatan Kabila Bone, Kabupaten Bone Bolango. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan hanya untuk 1 kali pertemuan dengan durasi waktu 90 menit. Dengan kegiatan pengabdian ini diharapkan akan dapat menambah perbendaharaan kata Bahasa Inggris anak-anak terutama yang dapat mereka gunakan untuk promosi wilayah pariwisata disekitar mereka.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatnya kemampuan membaca siswa melalui pembelajaran membaca kritis. Hal ini memberikan manfaat yang berharga bagi siswa yang berada di kawasan wisata pantai. Melalui pembelajaran dalam pengabdian ini, siswa dapat memperoleh pemahaman yang mendalam tentang keberlanjutan lingkungan, dampak sosial dan ekonomi industri pariwisata pantai, serta mengembangkan keterampilan kritis dalam menganalisis teks-teks yang relevan. Selain itu, pembelajaran membaca kritis juga merangsang minat dalam penelitian dan advokasi, memungkinkan siswa menjadi agen perubahan yang sadar dan berkomitmen untuk menjaga keberlanjutan lingkungan serta mempromosikan praktik pariwisata yang bertanggung jawab di kawasan wisata pantai. Peserta yang menjadi sasaran dari kegiatan ini adalah Masyarakat sekitar yakni remaja dan anak-anak yang berlokasi di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri No. 1 Kecamatan Kabila Bone, Kabupaten Bone Bolango. Kegiatan pengabdian ini telah dilaksanakan dalam 1 kali pertemuan dengan durasi waktu 90 menit. Kegiatan pengabdian ini membantu masyarakat kawasan wisata untuk dapat mengelola kawasan pariwisata dan dapat melayani pengunjung baik local maupun asing dengan baik.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the improvement of students’ vocabulary after using film encanto. The population of this research is the students in ten grade of SMAN 4 Gorontalo, and the sampel is 24 students in class X MIPA 4. This research used pre-experimental design with one group pre-test, treatment and post-test. The result of this research shows that the mean score of pre-test is 9,04 and the mean score of post-test is 12. Moreover, the result of hypothesis of this research found that tcount tlist or 6,040 2,074. It means that the hypothesis (H1) of this research is accepted, there is 40,49% score results resceived from the pre-test to the post-test. Therefore, it can be concluded that the utilizing the film Encanto increase Students’ Vocabulary. Keywords :Film Encanto, increasing students’ vocabulary

Abstract

The integration of technology in education, particularly in English Language Teaching (ELT), has become a crucial element of 21st-century pedagogy. However, significant gaps and barriers impede the effective adoption of technology by teachers. This study investigates the technology preparedness of English language teachers in Indonesia, focusing on the challenges they face in integrating technology into their teaching practices. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with English language teachers in a rural area. The findings reveal that while teachers perceive technology as an essential tool for enhancing instruction and exhibit confidence in its use, they encounter significant obstacles such as limited access to resources, inadequate infrastructure, and insufficient professional development. These barriers not only affect teaching efficacy but also hinder students' engagement and learning outcomes. The study underscores the necessity of addressing these challenges through targeted professional development and systemic support. By aligning the findings with frameworks such as the Technology Acceptance Model and Constructivist Learning Theory, this research highlights actionable strategies for policymakers and educational institutions to foster a more conducive environment for technology integration. The implications of this study extend to improving the quality of English language instruction and preparing students for the demands of a digitally-driven world.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap Kabila Bone, Kabupaten Bone Bolango, Provinsi Gorontalo, dengan latar belakang rendahnya minat dan motivasi siswa dalam belajar bahasa Inggris serta pelaksanaan English Club yang belum optimal.  Kegiatan ini merupakan tahap awal dari rangkaian program pengabdian yang diawali dengan observasi untuk memotret kondisi awal siswa dan mengukur perubahan motivasi serta keterampilan berbahasa Inggris mereka setelah intervensi dilakukan. Tujuan kegiatan adalah meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa Inggris siswa, khususnya kemampuan berbicara dan menulis, serta membekali guru dengan keterampilan merancang dan mengelola pembelajaran berbasis gamifikasi agar English Club dapat berjalan lebih komunikatif, kreatif, dan menyenangkan. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan melalui tahap persiapan, pelatihan guru, implementasi program English Club berbasis gamifikasi, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa siswa mulai aktif, percaya diri, dan antusias dalam mengikuti English Club, sedangkan guru memperoleh pengetahuan dan keterampilan baru dalam menerapkan strategi gamifikasi. Pihak sekolah juga menyambut baik kegiatan ini dan menyatakan komitmen untuk melanjutkan tahapan berikut dari kegiatan pengabdian ini. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan pengabdian ini meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui pembelajaran di English club dan memperkuat kapasitas guru dalam merancang pembelajaran inovatif, serta menghasilkan model kegiatan ekstrakurikuler yang berpotensi berkelanjutan di sekolah mitra. Abstract

Listening is one of the most challenging skills for students to master, and innovative media are required to make the learning process more engaging and effective. This study aims to identify students perceptions of using the LingoClip application as a medium for learning listening. The research employed a descriptive qualitative design involving students from SMP Bone as participants. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed five emerging themes. Students perceived LingoClip as a fun and enjoyable learning medium that created a relaxed and positive atmosphere. The application was considered easy to use, with clear audio quality and supporting visual features that facilitated comprehension. Students demonstrated high motivation and confidence in using LingoClip and expressed a desire to reuse it in future lessons. However, some reported technical issues such as limited internet access and small screen sizes. Overall, LingoClip positively influenced students learning experiences by fostering enjoyment, motivation, and confidence, demonstrating its potential as an effective tool for listening instruction.

Abstract

Learning English vocabulary using TikTok as a media learning is expected to provide students with a practical, engaging, and meaningful learning experience. This research aims to determine the implementation of teaching English vocabulary to fifth-grade students of SD Laboratorium UNG through TikTok media. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design, involving 20 fifth-grade students at SD Laboratorium UNG in the academic year 2024/2025 as research subjects. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, focusing on three basic types of vocabulary: nouns, verbs, and adjectives, which were taught using TikTok videos. This research showed that (1) using TikTok videos in the classroom increases students’ interest, participation, and understanding of English vocabulary. This was proven by observations that have been analyzed about the implementation of TikTok videos as a medium for learning English vocabulary to fifth-grade students at SD Laboratorium UNG. (2) students showed improvement in recognizing, pronouncing, and using vocabulary in simple sentences, and felt more confident in the learning process. This is based on the results of interviews conducted with 5 students who were most active during the implementation of TikTok videos in English vocabulary learning activities. Despite challenges such as limited access to technology, TikTok proved to be an effective medium for teaching vocabulary to young EFL learners. Abstract

Out-of-School Children (OOSC), school dropouts, and graduates who do not continue their education remain challenges in educational development in Bone Bolango Regency. This study aims to examine the role of the Bone Bolango Regency Office of Education and Culture in reducing the rates of OOSC, dropouts, and non-continuing graduates through the use of Verification and Validation (Verval) data from Pusdatin of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education and actual field conditions. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews with the Head of the Office of Education and Culture and Subdistrict Education Coordinators, supported by quantitative data from the Verval system. The findings indicate that the Office has implemented several efforts, including strengthening non-formal education services through community learning centers (PKBM), conducting data collection and community outreach, and planning affirmative programs such as scholarships and school uniform assistance. However, these efforts have not been fully effective due to data inaccuracies, weak cross-sector coordination, and the absence of a strong early detection system at the school level.

Abstract

This qualitative study examines how cooperative learning is implemented by an EFL teacher to support students’ reading comprehension in a lower-secondary context at a school in Indonesia. Drawing on four classroom observations and a semi-structured teacher interview, the study investigates how cooperative learning functions as an interactional scaffold during reading instruction. Data were analyzed thematically using an interactive analytical approach. The findings reveal three interrelated ways in which cooperative learning fostered reading comprehension: (1) structuring peer-mediated reading through cooperative routines, (2) scaffolding comprehension through teacher-guided interaction, and (3) sustaining engagement through recognition and affective support. Cooperative learning was enacted through Jigsaw and Think-Pair-Share, which created structured opportunities for peer explanation, shared responsibility, and negotiation of meaning. Although students initially experienced confusion and hesitation, engagement increased as instructional routines stabilized and teacher mediation became more explicit. Instead of demonstrating causal learning gains, this study offers process-level, classroom-based insights into how cooperative learning supports EFL reading comprehension through interaction and pedagogical practices.
