Abstract

A history of reception about literary work is conducted by the differences of reader horizon of expectation. The difference of its results are based on the reader background. A horizon of expectation of a reader can be vary such as education, experience, knowledge, and understanding skill to interpreting a meaning. Beside a difference of a reader horizon, reader can not be also separated from giving meaning to its text. While in literary work has an open place that must be filled by reader. A reader concern giving meaning by doing reading action. In Oliver Twist novel by Charles Dickens depicted all conditions of England in Victorian Period. Reception theory of Hans Robert Jauss the first theses will be used for guidance to this analyze. That theory also used as approach to solve the case in this study. While the writer will apply a qualitative descriptive method base on the act of reading and text analyses. The findings show that the condition of people in Victorian Era face sorrowful and darkness. These situation sharply spread of a poverty, starving, oppression, and injustice. Those all situations are clearly caused by industry revolution. Govermen run an amoral rules which society does not have sympathy, care, and responsibility.

Abstract

Membaca merupakan sebuah  aktifitas yang sangat baik untuk mendukung perkembangan seseorang dalam memahami sesuatu.  Dengan membaca akan memubuka jendela dunia. Membaca menambah wawasan dan khasanah pengetahuan. Menumbuhkan minat atau kegemaran dalam membaca diperlukan cara atau metode dan media dalam merealisasikannya. Cerita dan dongeng adalah hal pertama yang menarik bagi anak-anak khususnya di Taman Kanak-kanak (TK)  untuk dibaca atau di bacakan (diperdengarkan). Para pendidik harus cerdas dan pandai dalam memilih  tema-tema  yang akan dibaca. Proses belajar membaca akan telaksana dengan baik bila media yang diguanakan menarik.  Guru bisa menggunakan media diantaranya; cerita bergambar, dongeng-dongeng  yang mengandung nilai moral, kisah-kisah yang menarik dan memberi kesan gembira dan bahagia.   Membangkitkan kegemaran membaca perlu tindakan nyata dan didukung oleh lingkungan yang kondusif.   Kata kunci : membaca, cerita dan dongeng, Taman Kanak-kanak. Abstract Reading is a good aktifity for improving human understanding of a thing.  Reading routine will explore the world. Reading also will be become a insight of knowledge. To supply encourage the interest and delightful are needed a good media and method for its realization. Story and fable are the first  point thing which are interested in kindegarden students. These stories will be read by the teacher. Teachers should choose the good theme wisely. The process of reading will be run well if it uses the interesting media. Teachers are also can be used the media  such as like illustration story, picture stories, stories which is contain good moral value and give a lovely impressive ending, and others.  To build a motivation reading for students is supported by a conducive enviorenment. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the diction and satire language style used in critical utterances. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The theoretical approach used in the analysis in this study is diction and language style, politeness principles and critical discourse analysis. The results of this study reveal that the diction and satire language style used makes the criticism conveyed not rigid, and the message or intent contained therein can be accepted by all viewers. From the point of view of discourse analysis, in terms of the microstructure of the dictions used focus on several lingual features including (1) ideological words that are fought for, (2) ideological meaning relations, (3) euphemistic expressions, (4) striking formal and informal words, (5) metaphors, and (6) positive and negative evaluations. The use of diction and satire language style fulfills the principle of politeness. Therefore, the discourse that is built with satire utterances minimizes conflict and resistance with the interlocutor. Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis; Diction; Satire Language Style; Principle Of Politeness
