Abstract

Abstrak Tujuan dari penulisan ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan hasil kajian dan analisa terhadap apresiasi sastra mahasiswa pasacsarjana Linguistik Terapan UNY serta persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pentingnya sastra dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualititatif. Sampel diambil dengan teknik “purposive random sampling”. Dalam penelitian ini digunkan dua teknik pengambilan data, yakni wawancara dan angket. Di dalam wawancara terdapat 98 pertanyaan terdiri dari aspek kognitif, afektif dan psikomotorik dalam berapresiasi sastra serta persepsi Mahasiswa terhadap pentingnya sastra dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat. Kemudian angket yang digunakan disini merupakan angket terbuka. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa tingkat apresiasi mahasiswa pascasarjana UNY prodi Linguistik terapan adalah tinggi dengan nilai sangat tinggi 1, tinggi 1, cukup 2 dan rendah 2. Dan dapat diasumsikan bahwa dari semua aspek yang terindikator mahasiswa LT rata-rata sudah melaksanakan semua kegiatan apresiasi sastra pada setiap tingkatan. Kemudian, terkait persepsi mahasiwa diperoleh hasil bahwa sastra itu penting dan bisa membantu dalam menghadapi kehidupan bermasyarakat. Dan lebih lanjut lagi, sangat dimungkinkan bahwa sastra dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran tidak hanyak bahasa tetapi juga pemberlajaran lainnya. Sastra dapat digunakan untuk mendidik dan mengajar tanpa pembelajar tahu bahwa dia sedang diajar.

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze the diction and satire language style used in critical utterances. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The theoretical approach used in the analysis in this study is diction and language style, politeness principles and critical discourse analysis. The results of this study reveal that the diction and satire language style used makes the criticism conveyed not rigid, and the message or intent contained therein can be accepted by all viewers. From the point of view of discourse analysis, in terms of the microstructure of the dictions used focus on several lingual features including (1) ideological words that are fought for, (2) ideological meaning relations, (3) euphemistic expressions, (4) striking formal and informal words, (5) metaphors, and (6) positive and negative evaluations. The use of diction and satire language style fulfills the principle of politeness. Therefore, the discourse that is built with satire utterances minimizes conflict and resistance with the interlocutor. Keywords: Critical Discourse Analysis; Diction; Satire Language Style; Principle Of Politeness

Abstract

This study aims to develop Islamic literature-based material for reading for English letter study program students. Moreover, this paper carried on research and development design (R&D) which was adopted and modified by Borg & Gall. The data were collected through questionnaires and observation. Qualitative data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and drawing verification, and quantitative data analysis used Skala Likert analysis. The research participants consisted of lecturers and 20 students from the English Letters study program. The content of the book consists of the following components: the front cover, the introduction, the table of content, the cover text, the materials, references, and the writer. After the implementation of the revision from the expert, and the implementation of both preliminary and main field tests, the data show the student's responses to the Islamic literature-based reading materials designed were 3.72 average scores with a scale of 4, which includes it on a very good category. Then, the response for the literature appreciation rate is from 3.4 to 3.62 in the average score which is on a scale of 4 including the very good category, which means the Islamic literature-based reading materials have an effect on the literature appreciation rate. Therefore, Islamic literature-based reading material is worth applying to the students of the English Letters study program.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to describe the character education values in Islamic stories. The qualitative descriptive research was used in the study. Purposive random sampling was use to determine the object and content analysis was used to analyzed the data. There were nine Islamic stories in the study. The results of this research revealed that there are 15 of 18 character education in the Islamic stories, except democracy, love to read and environmental care. And the Islamic stories can be use to build a good character of generation. Islamic literatures in the form of Islamic stories gives many advantages particularly about teaching character and personality indirectly. Not only gives the awareness of islamic values, but also it provides knowledge of language and culture especially in the context of Islam. Islamic stories also provide with other filed science knowledge, such as history, math, attitude and so on.

Abstract

The unrestricted use of mobile phones by elementary school children to access social media and online games can be disastrous for them. This greatly affects their literacy skills, leading to suboptimal development of the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This community service program aims to raise awareness and motivate the students of TPQ Bustanul Ulum Sejati to improve their literacy skills. The method used in this community service activity was lectures and discussions. The activity received a positive response from the TPQ Bustanul Ulum Sejati students and their parents. The program was conducted through material presentations and discussions using a relaxed conversational approach, making the activity feel less formal and more comfortable. This atmosphere allowed all the students to express their opinions without hesitation. This activity left a positive impression on the participants about the importance of literacy and avoiding excessive use of mobile phones to access social media and online games.
