Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has created generational differences in the field of education, particularly between Generation Z teachers and Generation Alpha students. These differences present challenges in the learning process, especially in maintaining student engagement and learning effectiveness. This study aims to describe the efforts of Generation Z teachers in addressing the characteristics of Generation Alpha students and to identify the challenges faced in the learning process at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Walisanga II. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The subjects of the study were Generation Z teachers, while the object focused on teachers’ efforts in responding to the characteristics of Generation Alpha students. Data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation techniques used to ensure data validity. The findings indicate that Generation Z teachers have implemented various adaptive strategies, including the use of varied and interactive learning methods, the utilization of technology-based media, flexible and communicative classroom management, and character building through habituation and role modeling. These efforts have been shown to enhance student engagement and interest in learning. However, teachers still face several challenges, such as maintaining student focus, managing heterogeneous classrooms, and the limited integration of technology in a pedagogical manner. This study highlights the importance of continuous teacher competency development in responding to the dynamics of student characteristics in the digital era, while maintaining a balance between instructional innovation and character education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that mathematics learning often faces obstacles in terms of students' low conceptual understanding due to the abstract nature of the material and the minimal use of concrete and interactive learning media. This condition also occurs at Taman Sari Elementary School, where students experience difficulties in understanding number operations. This study aims to analyze the use of the "bag of numbers" media as an alternative mathematics learning tool to improve students' conceptual understanding, activeness, and learning motivation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the use of the "bag of numbers" media can improve the understanding of the concept of number operations in a more concrete and systematic manner. In addition, this media also increases student activeness in learning through direct involvement in practical activities. Student learning motivation has increased, marked by enthusiasm and active participation in learning activities. On the other hand, there are several obstacles such as time constraints and differences in student abilities, but these can be overcome through adaptive learning strategies. This research contributes to providing an alternative, simple, effective learning media and strengthening the concrete experience-based learning approach in elementary school mathematics.

Abstract

The phenomenon of character degradation in elementary school-aged children has become a serious issue in the world of education in recent years. Technological developments, globalization, and weak social environmental supervision have led to the emergence of undisciplined behavior, low responsibility, minimal manners, and a decline in honesty in children's daily lives. Furthermore, collaboration between families, schools, and communities is essential in shaping children's character. This situation presents a major challenge for Madrasah Ibtida'iyah (MI), as an Islamic-based elementary educational institution that not only carries out the task of developing cognitive aspects, but also the formation of students' morals and ethics from an early age. Moral education is a crucial component in shaping a good personality, as it equips students with the ability to understand the values of goodness, distinguish right from wrong, and apply them in life. However, in practice, the implementation of moral education at MI Kholafiyah Syafi'iyah Zainul Hasan Genggong is not optimal. Contributing factors include a lack of environmental role models, minimal integration of moral values in learning, and the negative influence of social media and social interactions. If left unchecked, character degradation will continue to increase and impact future social life. The main problem of this research is how moral education plays a role in preventing character degradation in children, especially in the MI Kholafiyah Syafi'iyah Zainul Hasan Genggong environment. This study aims to analyze the role of moral education as an effort to prevent character degradation and identify strategies that can be applied to strengthen moral values in MI Kholafiyah Syafi'iyah Zainul Hasan Genggong students. Theoretically, the results of this study are expected to enrich the study of moral education in the context of Islamic-based basic education. Practically, this research can be a reference for teachers, schools, and stakeholders to develop effective learning strategies in instilling moral values and preventing character degradation from an early age.
