Abstract

Palm oil mill (POM) must be able to produce high quality products, because it will increase value added of crude palm oil (CPO) and palm kernel (PK) as products. To maintain quality of CPO, especially FFA, the treatment of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) should be regulated. Control of the FFA is very necessary so that productivity can be maintained the POM. Poor condition of FFA will also easily identified so that it can be followed up. CPO quality control, especially FFA parameter can be done by using chart and R chart, namely by looking at the variability of the process on a daily basis. From the test result shows that the condition is so bad that the process capability need immediate corrective action to resolve the issue.

Abstract

This paper will present a conceptual framework that describes the relationship between the variables of leadership, culture, strategy, and performance. Social organizations tend to follow the five phases of organizational growth being addressed by Greiner (1972), as described Hatch (1997), namely: 1) an organization that exists because of the creativity of a few individual; 2) the existence of organizational growth through referrals from its leader, 3) the emergence of the crisis in the form of each region wanted to walk on their own without the involvement of the center; 4) the growth of the organization is characterized by the lack of coordination between central and local to control the crisis; and 5) developing the organization on the basis of collaboration which meant that every leader there is openness. This paper will also present some theoretical concepts of Organizational Behavior, Organizational Culture, Leadership, and Strategic Management. Finally, several studies have looked at the purpose of the relationship variables of leadership, culture, strategy, and performance is expected to develop research purposes.

Abstract

Inventories of high speed diesel used in palm oil plantation company as fuel of diesel equipment, such as automobile, heavy equipment, generator and other supplies is one fast moving, because their need are daily need. Therefore, supplies of high speed diesel should be considered carefully so as not to cause a high accumulation of asset and does not cause a shortage of inventory which will have an impact on the productivity of the company, particularly the productivity of the equipments.In this inventory control system, sometimes companies have problems of uncertainty, namely the uncertainty of the amount of the need and uncertainty of the order of arrival time. The condition is called probabilistic condition, where everything happen according to the probability. The condition can not be solved with the system used in the deterministic problem. It required another approach. One is by using a Monte Carlo simulation model.From the simulation results as much as 61 times, from June 1st, 2013 to July 31st, 2013 obtained frequency of order are 6 times. While the lead time that happened just 2 days, 4 days and 6 days. The daily requirement ranges from 158 liters to 860 liters. The minimum of ending inventory is 1,450 liters and the maximum is 8,180 liters. Thus never in short supply during the period. Similarly, over stock also never happened because it was never done a double order for the duration of waiting for order.

Abstract

The productivity of a palm oil mill is not only seen from how many CPO that can be produced, but also be seen from the efficiency of the process. Therefore it is necessary to control the quality of the processing of palm oil itself, which includes the quality of raw materials, processes, and quality products. Thus each company can easily evaluate the performance of each of the quality object and can easily identify any deviations. Identification of palm oil processing system in palm oil mill can be done by using a diagram called the Deming's view production system. Thus the object will be seen clearly what should be observed in the palm oil processing to be able to produce a treatment system that meets the quality standards set by the company, both on the input, process and output. By using the 5W+H principle as an analysis of the system will be identified on the objects depicted in the Deming's view of the production system diagram. The result is an overview of how to take measurements of the quality parameters of the process and what targets to be achieved in the process.

Abstract

Pabrik Minyak Kelapa Sawit (PMKS) memiliki beberapa stasiun yang bertujuan untuk mengolah Tandan Buah Segar (TBS) menjadi Crude Palm Oil (CPO) dan Palm kernel (PK). Untuk mengetahui keberhasilan suatu PMKS dalam mengolah TBS menjadi CPO dan PK hal tersebut dapat kita lihat dari mutu proroduksi yang dihasilkan. Dimana mutu yang sangat diperhatikan umumnya adalah CPO. Mutu dari CPO tersebut sangat menentukan terhadap nilai ekonomis dari CPO itu sendiri. Pada PMKS Agribaras mutu CPO yang dihasilkan masih kurang maksimal. Dimana salah satunya adalah persentase kadar kotoran minyak ex vacuum dryer yang hingga saat ini masih diatas standar yaitu 0.030 % dari standar 0.015 %. Analisa ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk megetahui penyebab dari tingginya kadar kotoran minyak produksi. Untuk kemudian dapat dilakukan upaya untuk menguragi kadar kotoran yang masih tinggi. Utamanya kadar kotoran yang masuk ke wet oil tank yang dianggap masih tinggi, yaitu 0.034 % dari rata-rata kotoran yang masuk. Tingginya kadar kotoran minyak produksi biasanya disebabkan oleh proses yang kurang maksimal pada stasiun klarifikasi, khususnya pada Wet Oil Tank. Dimana dari hasil analisa dan pengamatan kemudian berdasarkan studi literature yang dilakukan. Bahwa tingginya kadar kotoran minyak produksi dapat dipengaruhi oleh foaming pada permukaan minyak, dan aliran minyak yang ada pada wet oil tank yang kurang tenang. Sehingga menyebabkan proses pengendapan pada wet oil tank tidak sempurna.

Abstract

This research discusses the control of throughput in a palm oil mill (POM). The purpose is to find out how the POM throughput conditions and how the losses due to these conditions. This research uses the individual moving range (I-MR) Chart method. Testing is done first with MR-Chart, and revisions will be made if there is an out-of-control condition. Next, testing of throughput conditions with x-Chart will be conducted. If an out-of-control condition occurs, a process capability measurement (Cp) will be carried out. The result showed that the POM studied had poor throughput conditions. To make the existing conditions seem good or very good, tolerance is needed that is beyond the limit of reasonableness. This condition resulted in considerable losses for the company because it had to spend operational cost because there were additional operating hours that should not have happened, even though there were no FFB processed during these additional hours.

Abstract

This research discusses the calcium carbonate inventory control system which is a important material in palm oil mills (POM). This chemical is used to separate the kernel and shell. The purpose of this research is to forecast of the calcium carbonate demand and to control of the stock. This research is a case study in a POM located in Jambi Province. The research data comes from company document, especially the daily production report for January - May 2019. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis and simulation. Descriptive analysis is used for historical data obtained from the company, while the simulation is used to forecast of the calcium carbonate demand for June - December 2019 using the Monte Carlo simulation method. The result showed that forecasting the calcium carbonate demand can be done through forecasting the FFB quantity processed in the POM, then simulating the ratio of calcium carbonate use to the FFB quantity processed using Monte Carlo simulation. Inventory control is done by applying safety stock and reorder point to avoid stockout condition, because the quantity of demand and the leadtime have various characteristic and probabilistic.

Abstract

This research discusses classification of inventory in a warehouse of palm oil plantation company located in Central Kalimantan Province. The purpose of this research is to classify inventory of goods by the method of FSN Analysis (Fast, Slow and Non-moving) based on turn over ratio (TOR) and how to control these goods. The method used is quantitative analysis based on historical data using the FSN Analysis and TOR methods. The result showed that the classification of inventory by the method produced three classify of goods, ie fast-moving, slow-moving and non-moving. The three classify of goods need different management system. The goods in the fast-moving that a large quantity of need can be managed by applying safety stock and reorder point, while that small quantity and items in the slow-moving can be managed by the periodic review (R, s, S) power method approximation or can be bought when needed. While goods in the non-moving are sufficient to be purchased when needed, while still taking into quantity and schedule of demand so that no stockout conditions occur.

Abstract

Equipment performance of a POM can be measured using OEE. Measurement of OEE on screw press can be done through the operating hours of the equipment and the resulting oil losses. The result of the measurement will show how effectivity the treatment carried out on the equipment. The purpose of this research was to determine the condition of performance of screw press through OEE measurement and to know what indications are shown by the performance condition. This research was conducted at a POM located in South Kalimantan Province. The data used is data derived from company document for one year. Based on the result of the discussion it can be concluded that screw press tool used in POM has low performance condition. This can be seen from the measured OEE value which is still below the world class company standard. The low OEE value indicates that the maintenance system applied to the screw press has not been effective. Therefore it is necessary to do an analysis of causes of the problem so that appropriate repair can be made according to their need

Abstract

The performance of palm oil mill (POM) can be seen from several indicators, such as oil extraction rate (OER), kernel extraction rate (KER), throughput, oil losses and kernel losses. The achievement of these indicators may be related to the processing time of the POM. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between the processing time on the performance of POM, especially OER, KER, throughput, oil losses and kernel losses. The method used is correlation analysis, which is a statistical analysis to see the relationship between two variables, ie the processing time variable with each of these performance variables. The result of the analysis show that the processing time have a weak and negative relationship to OER, KER and oil losses, weak and positive to kernel losses, and strong and negative to throughput. The increase in processing time had a bad impact on the four indicators, ie OER, KER, throughput and kernel losses, but had a good impact on oil losses.
