Abstract

Domestic waste management nowadays is frequently not appropriate with methods and techni- ques which are environmentally friendly, included in Dusun VI of Pleret Village in Panjatan, Kulonprogo. Therefore, effective counseling methods are needed for up-levelling the related knowledge and practice among the community. This study was aimed to identify the effect of counseling method with demonstration technique and poster media on the knowledge and prac- tice of dasawisma members in Dusun VI on their domestic waste management. The study was a quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. Sixty four women dasawisma mem- bers are randomly allocated into treatment group or control group based on their domiciles. Both groups consisted of equal number of respondents. To measure the knowledge and practice, a test instrument and a check-list which were tested for their validity and realibility beforehand, were employed. Because the study data did not fulfill normal distribution assumption, a non- parametric, Wilcoxon test was employed to analyze at 0,05 significance level. The study results show that because of the counseling method with demonstration and poster, the knowledge and practice scores are significantly different between pre-test aand post-test (the corresponding p values are 0,037 and 0,006, subsequently).

Abstract

One technique that can be applied to reduce or to avoid occupational accidents is job safetyanalysis (JSA) method, which is determined based on parameters or stages where the accidentsare frequently occur. The purpose of this study is to minimize the danger of workplaceaccidents in the furniture production of PT X by implementing JSA method. The study was anobservational descriptive study. The respondents/sample was 119 out of 169 workers who areselected by using random sampling technique. The data showed that machine II had the greatestpotential for work accidents. These conditions were obtained from the data in previous year,interviews and direct field assessments. The danger posed by occupational accidents can resultin serious or minor injuries to workers' limbs. The OHS section of the company has carried outPPE control, installing OHS signs and initial training. However, work accidents still occur in 2018and 2019. The results of the study indicate that the potential for work accidents can be minimizedby increasing the OHS work program in the company including: improving the quality ofPPE, improving OHS discipline, and finally the application of the method of substitution on a toolthat could potentially cause danger. Thus, the potential hazards and risks can be prevented andmanaged properly. To conclude, JSA method is able to reduce work accidents by a percentagein accordance with the type of work in the production process.

Abstract

One of the occupations that have great risk of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) is mushroom seeding workers. The results of a preliminary study in mushroom home industries showed that 100% workers complaining of pain in the limbs after work so that efforts to overcome this situation is needed. The purpose os the study was to reduce the complaints of musculoskeletal disorders among mushroom seeding workers in Klangon Village of Argosari, Sedayu, Bantul by implementing workplace stretching exercise. The study was a quasi-experiment with pre-test posttest with control group design. The exercise interventions were given in five days with one frequency a day, and 8-10 minute duration per session. The study samples were 31 female workers who were selected by using simple random sampling technique. The instrument used was the Nordic Body Map questionnaire with 17 sekeletal muscle focus points. The data were analysed by using Wilcoxon Rank Test and Mann Whitney at ?=0,05. The results showed that the reduction average of musculoskeletal disorders in the experiment group was 84,16%, meanwhile in the control group it was 7,16%. The p-value obtained from statistical analysis was <0,001 indicating that the reduction different between the two study groups was significant. To conclude, workplace stretching exercise can reduce musculoskeletal disorders among mushroom seeding workers.

Abstract

Biji alpolat biasanya hanya dibuang begitu saja setelah diambil daging buahnya, padahal biji ini masih mengandung bahan bahan yang mempunyai nilai gizi seperti protein, lemak maupun karbohidrat. Potensi ketersediaan biji alpokat dari sebuah pasar buah setiap minggunya mencapai 1 ton, belum termasuk buah yang rusak yang setiap bulannya mencapai 280 kg. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, maka disusun penelitian yang berjudul: Pemnafaatan Biji Alpokat (Persea americana Mil) Ssebagai Campuran Tepung Bahan Pembuat Mie. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain post test with control design. Objek penelitian berupa buah alpokat yang diperoleh dari pasar buah. Analisis data bersifat diskriptif dan analitik dengan uji anova tingkat kemaknaan 95% (a = 0,05). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan untuk uji organoleptic tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan untuk warna dan bau dan ada perbedaan yang signifikan untuk rasa. Uji untuk nilai gizi menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan yang bermakna untuk semua formulasi. Formulasi yang dapat diterima panelis adalah formulasi A (10%)
