Abstract

Abstract Language is a means of communication. Human beings use a language to communicate with each other in order to express their minds and accomplish their needs. World wide communication, technology, politics, literature, agriculture and science mostly used English as the language. Reading is an important activity in every language. Reading enables people to find out information from a variety of texts, written or printed information from newspapers, magazines, advertisements, brochures and soon. Good English reading comprehension is really needed to be mastered especially by students to face this global era in which the English is the language that is used. Reading comprehension is taught since the first year of junior high school till the university. Abstract

Abstract This article is about the survival ASWAJA in the region of Malay Brunei. Ahlussunnah Waljama'ah has become the pulse for the sustainability of the State of Brunei Darussalam. The practice of Ahlussunnah Waljama'ah both as a creed or as an ideology has been carried out in this country since ancient times where a king plays an important role in guarding and disseminating Ahlussunnah Waljama'ah. Ahlussunnah Waljama'ah was strengthened by its inclusion in the Brunei State Institutions Act 1959 AD and was reaffirmed on the independence day of the country of Brunei in 1984 AD, through the decree of the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah on the day of the proclamation of independence of the State of Brunei Darussalam. Abstract

Abstract This paper is about the Malay Islamic Monarchy as the ideology of the Brunei Darussalam state which has been proclaimed at the independence day of Brunei on January 1, 1984 AD. The Malay Islamic Monarchy as a continuity of the struggle of the kings and people of Brunei Darussalam in preserving culture, religion and government system. The Malay Islamic Monarchy as the ideology of the state is an independent, sovereign and democratic state. Independence is a right for every nation and state. It was not coincidence, but was born trough a long historical process starting form Awang Alak Betatar convert Islam and continued by the king until now. The Malay Islam Monarchy also as identity and worldview of the people of Brunei Darussalam which is practicing Malay as culture and customs, understanding Islam as a complete and perfect religion, and recognizing the king as the highest leader and absolute power in the state of Brunei Darussalam. The position of Islam in this country also provides an important role for peace and prosperity, so Islam becomes the core of the Malay Islam Monarchy itself. Kata Kunci ; Melayu Islam Beraja

Abstract

Pragmatic studies have an important role in language learning, as it is seen as the study of the useof language in communicative contexts such as recognizing communicated messages or speech actsthat are being spoken. One of the main topics in pragmatic studies is speech act. Speech act is apragmatic feature that connects actions with the language used. In other words, speech act theoryattempts to explain how speakers use language to achieve the goal of action and how speechpartners infer their intended meaning so as to shape what is said (Altikriti, 2011). This study aimsto describe the form of illocutionary speech acts on Luqman’s educational testament for his son .This research is a type of qualitative description research. The data source in this study is theutterances uttered by Luqman verses 12-19 contain the story of Luqman and the speech spoken byLuqman to his son.. Based on data analysis, the conclusion can be drawn. that the forms ofillocutionary speech acts found were directive, declarative, expressive, and assertive.Keywords : pragmatics, speech act, illocutionary, Luqman verses (12-19

Abstract

AbstractThis paper is the result of a study of Kim Knott's insider / outsider perspective in religious studies.The discussion methodology used in this paper is literature study. This insider / outsider conceptwas born in order to obtain objective and accountable science of religion. According to Knott,religious researchers must be able to position themselves and understand their position, both asinsiders and outsiders. By doing so, it is also hoped that they will choose the relevant partialapproach methodology. The options Kim Knott offered to insider researchers were a completeparticipant or participant as observer. Meanwhile, an outsider observer is a complete observer oran observer as a participant.
