Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the effect of using GRASP Strategy on The Students Ability in Reading Comprehension at Narrative Text of Eleventh Grade Student of SMK Tamansiswa Binjai. This quantitative research used experimental study and took samples by cluster random sampling technique. The samples were consisted of two groups, they were class XI RPL which consist of 32 students as experimental group and class XI TKJ-2 which consist of 32 students as control group at SMK Tamansiswa Binjai. The writer used multiple choice test as the instrument of collecting data. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the value of t-observed (t0) was higher than the value of t-table, (t0 = 7.24 > tt = 1.669). Therefore, the hypothesis proposed by the writer was accepted. In other words, using GRASP Strategy significantly affects the students’ reading skill of the eleventh grade students at SMK Tamansiswa Binjai.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out whether using Fishbowl Strategy effects students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students At Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School. In this study, the writer used Fishbowl Strategy as the independent variable (X) and students’ reading skill as the dependent variable (Y), with the hypothesis: using Fishbowl Strategy significantly affects students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students of Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School. The population of this study was the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students of Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School which consisted of 76 students. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling that consists of 76 students. Then, the sample was divided into two groups, the group taught by using Fishbowl Strategy was as the experimental group and the group taught without Fishbowl Strategy was as the control group. The writer used multiple choice tests as the instrument of collecting data. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the value of t-observed (t0) was higher than the value of t-table, (tobserved = 4.75 > ttable = 1.666). Therefore, the hypothesis proposed by the writer was accepted. In the other words, using Fishbowl Strategy significantly affects the students’ reading skill of the 2019/2020 eleventh grade students At Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal Senior High School.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out whether using Tongue Twister to Improve Students’ Pronunciation Mastery at the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Swasta Melati Binjai In Academic Year 2019/2020. In this study, used Tongue Twister as the independent variable (X) and students’ pronunciation mastery as the dependent variable (Y), with the hypothesis: using Tongue Twister significantly affects students’ pronunciation mastery of the 2019/2020 tenth grade students of SMA Swasta Melati Binjai Senior High School. The population of this study was the 2019/2020 tenth grade students of SMA Swasta Melati Binjai Senior High School. Which consisted of 62 students. The sample was taken by using cluster random sampling, that consist of 62 students. Then, the sample was divided into two groups, the group taught by using Tongue Twister was as the experimental group and the group taught without Tongue Twister was as the control group. The writer used speaking test as the instrument of collecting data. The data was analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the value of t-observed (t0) was higher than the value of t-table, (t-observed = 18.08 > t-table = 1.671). Therefore, the hypothesis proposed by the writer was accepted. In the other words, using Tongue Twister significantly affects the students’ pronunciation mastery of the 2019/2020 tenth grade students at SMA Swasta Melati Binjai Senior HighSchool.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: Untuk mengetahui Pengaruh Penggunaan Metode Diskusi terhadap Prestasi Pemahaman Membaca Siswa Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Sunggal. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen dimana kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol akan dilakukan oleh penulis. Dalam penelitian ini penulis mengajar siswa di kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan teknik diskusi dan kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan metode tradisional. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP NEGERI 2 SUNGGAL. Dengan demikian, untuk mendapatkan informasi nilai akhir penulis memperoleh data dengan memberikan tes pada pertemuan terakhir. Jumlah populasi adalah dua kelas dan terdiri dari 80 siswa. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari tes yang diperoleh dari tes yang diperoleh dari kelas eksperimen yang diajar dengan menggunakan teknik diskusi dan kelas kontrol yang diajar dengan metode tradisional menunjukkan nilai rata-rata tes di kelas eksperimen adalah 8,20, sedangkan nilai rata-rata tes di kelas kontrol adalah 6,63 dan (t observasi) adalah 5.6. Derajat kebebasan (df) 58 diperoleh dari (N1 + N2-2) = (30 + 30-2). Dalam skripsi ini penulis menggunakan taraf signifikansi 5% dan 1%. Pada tabel signifikansi diperoleh nilai derajat signifikansi 5% dan 1% nilai derajat signifikansinya adalah 2, 00 dan 2, 65. Jika dibandingkan dengan masing-masing nilai derajat signifikansi diperoleh hasil 2, 00 <5.6> 2, 65. Berdasarkan analisis data dan pembahasan di atas, berarti ada pengaruh teknik diskusi terhadap kemampuan membaca siswa. Sehingga siswa memiliki tanggung jawab dan merasa menikmati proses pembelajaran. Artinya, teknik diskusi dapat digunakan sebagai salah satu alternatif dalam pembelajaran membaca.

Abstract

The study deals with an experimental research design which seeks for the effect of reflective journal writing on students’ writing ability of narrative text. 52 students at the tenth grade students of MAS Al Washliyah 29 Binjai on the first semester were taken as the samples of the study. Pre-test and post-test as the written test were given to measure whether the reflective journal writing had a significant effect toward the students’ writing ability of narrative text or not. The final data then was analyzed by using Paired-Samples T Test analysis shown that the significance (sig) 2-tailed value 0.000000 was lower than the significance level (0.05) and determined that coefficient of tcounted was 18.682 signifying higher than the ttable coefficient (2.05954) with significance level (α) = 0.025 (2-tailed) with degree of freedom (df) = 25. This means that there is a significant effect of reflective journal writing on students’ writing ability of narrative text at the tenth-grade students of MAS Al Washliyah 29 Binjai. Therefore, Ha was accepted and H0 was rejected.
