Abstract

ABSTRACT The use of powder detergent in Indonesia started to increase dramatically in the 1990s. Raw materials for use in the formulation detergents are active ingredients, excipients, support materials, additives, fragrance materials, and antifoam. The active ingredients of detergents, such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfonate (SLS) are utilized to increase the cleaning power. SLS known as an import detergent active ingredients and has a high price. Avocado seed is known containing several secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, triterpenoids, tannins, flavonoids, and saponins. Saponins have an important role as a producer of foam in industrial detergents, soaps, and shampoos. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the avocado seed extract as an additive in detergents production. This research was carried out by mixing the avocado seed extract concentration of 14%; 28%; 42%; 56% and 70% with other detergent ingredients. The measurements include the analysis of physicochemical properties as require: pH level, viscosity and foam stability. Data were analyzed theoretically and statistically by One-way ANOVA. The results show that the detergent formula avocado seed extracts 28% can be used as a substitute for SLS 28%. Key words: Seed Avocado, detergents, saponin, SLS

Abstract

ABSTRACT Green tea (Camellia sinensis L) contains EGCG, which has antibacterial activity. Stability, optimal concentration and formulation development has been observed before. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial effect stability of the ethyl acetate fractions of green tea leaves extract cream optimum formula and ethyl acetate fraction of green tea leaves extract (EAFGTLE 6%) against acne-causing bacteria, S. epidermidis. Anti-bacterial activity performed with diffusion assay method on S. epidermidis ATCC 35984 growths. The stability of anti-bacterial activity obtains during three months. The result analyzed using paired sample t-test (p: 0.95). The result showed there was no significant difference between EAFGTLE 6% inhibition ability (p=0.081) or even cream dosage optimum formula (p=0.079) during three months. It can be concluded that EAFGTLE 6% and optimum formula cream could inhibit its effectiveness during three months. Abstract

Daun beluntas (Pluchea indica L) banyak digunakan sebagai obat herbal untuk mengobati berbagai penyakit. Kandungan senyawa terkandung dalam daun beluntas antara lain flavonoid, lignan dan tanin berkhasiat sebagai antioksidan. Antioksidan merupakan substansi yang dapat memberikan perlindungan dari kerusakan akibat radikal bebas. Daun beluntas diketahui memiliki aktivitas anti radikal bebas tetapi tempat tumbuh optimal untuk menghasilkan aktivitas yang kuat belum diketahui. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan kadar flavonoid sebagai marker anti radikal bebas pada ekstrak etanolik daun beluntas (EEDB) yang tumbuh di dataran rendah Margoyoso dan tinggi Colo. Penelitian ini bersifat analitik observasional menggunakan rancangan penelitian cross sectional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar kuersetin EEDB dari Margoyoso dan Colo berturut – turut 73,10 dan 82,40 ppm. Kadar rutin EEDB dari Margoyoso dan Colo adalah 36,37 dan 58,31 ppm. Adapun kadar aktivitas antiradikal bebas ekstrak etanolik daun beluntas (EEDB) Margoyoso dan Colo sebesar 127,811 dan 71,561 ppm perbedaan hasil dipengaruhi faktor ketinggian, pH tanah, paparan sinar matahari dan habitat. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat pebedaan antara kadar kuersetin, kadar rutin, dan aktivitas anti radikal bebas ekstrak etanolik daun beluntas (EEDB) dari dataran rendah Margoyoso dan tinggi Colo. Aktivitas antiradikal bebas (EEDB) dari Margoyoso masuk kategori sedang dan dari Colo berkategori kuat. Kata Kunci: Daun beluntas (Pluchea indica L), antiradikal bebas, DPPH, IC50

Abstract

Stress management plays an importantt role int dealing with the level of productivity of learning activities. Poor stress management can contribute to a lack of preparedness in facing global health crisis situations, decreased academic achievement, critical thinking skills and learning motivation. Stress arises due to an individual's inability to deal with burdens or pressure, especially those imposed by students within the scope of education. Aromatherapyk is used as an alternative to relax the body, emotions and stress. Through product creation and implementation of health education programs, training in making aromatherapy reed diffusers focuses on community empowerment by involving students and teaching staff. This service is carriedd out with the aimm of helping manage students' academic growth through psychoeducational activities about stress management, preventing and reducing stress symptoms and remaining productive in daily life, and students are able to produce aromatherapy oils originating from various essential oil variants so that it is hoped that this can help improve relaxation, preventing stress, and increasing income for students. The methode used iss a direct approach, lecture and practicer. The rresults of the sservice activitiess showed an increase in understandingg by comparing the participants' pretest and posttest. This activity ran smoothly and there was high enthusiasm from the participants. Thiss can be seenn ffromm the number of participantss who wanted to try making reed diffuser aromatherapy preparations.
