Abstract

Women's participation in the labor force plays a crucial role in a country's economic growth. However, the gender gap in labor is still quite high in Indonesia. Female labor force participation rate tends to stagnate and lag behind men for the last 30 years, it’s indicating that there is a need improvement in employment. This research aims to test the factors that influence the female labor force participation rate in Indonesia from 1990 to 2021. Using multivariable regression analysis using the Ordinary Least Square method, it was found that there was a positive effect on education and female labor force participation rate. Meanwhile, fertility and working-age population have a negative effect on female labor force participation rate in Indonesia. Women’s labor force participation should be part of a policy strategy to maximize women's potential.

Abstract

Household organic waste is a major contributor to environmental pollution when not properly managed. In urban areas like Kota Baru Sub-district, Bandar Lampung City, improper waste disposal practices have resulted in increased waste volume and environmental degradation. This community service program (PKM) aimed to raise public awareness and provide practical knowledge on the utilization of household organic waste through environmentally friendly methods. The activity was conducted in July 2025 at the Kota Baru Sub-district Office, involving seven lecturers and students from the University of Lampung as facilitators, and twenty local residents as participants. The program consisted of educational presentations, practical workshops on making eco-enzyme products, maggot cultivation, and packaging techniques, followed by interactive discussions and a Q&A session. The approach emphasized direct community involvement, hands-on learning, and sustainable waste management practices. As a result, participants showed increased understanding of organic waste management and demonstrated the ability to replicate the techniques independently. Many expressed commitment to apply the knowledge in their households and spread it to their community. This activity not only enhanced environmental awareness but also empowered the community to contribute to waste reduction through simple, low-cost technologies.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of infrastructure on community welfare in the underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions of Eastern Indonesia, measured by Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita. The independent variables include electricity distribution, access to proper sanitation, road conditions, and the number of health facilities, using cross-section data from 51 districts in 7 provinces in 2023 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and analyzed with multiple linear regression using the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method. The results show that road conditions, access to proper sanitation, and the number of health facilities have a positive and significant effect on GRDP per capita, while electricity distribution has a negative but insignificant effect; simultaneously, all variables significantly affect GRDP per capita. These findings emphasize that improving basic infrastructure is a key factor in driving economic growth and community welfare in 3T regions, and can serve as a basis for more inclusive and equitable development.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of socio-economic and infrastructure factors on gross regional domestic product per capita and measures each factor's contribution to income inequality across 15 districts/cities in Lampung Province during 2020–2025. Using panel data regression with Random Effects Model (REM) and cluster-robust standard errors, the results show that mean years of schooling and internet access have significant positive effects, while poverty rate, open unemployment rate, and electricity access have significant negative effects on GRDP per capita. Applying the Regression-based Decomposition by Fields, all variables collectively contribute 100% to explaining inequality, with open unemployment rate as the largest contributor (16.85%), followed by percentage of poor population (10.40%), electricity access (9.74%), and internet access (9.21%). Notably, mean years of schooling reduces inequality by -4.64%. The overall model explains 41.56% of total GRDP per capita inequality, while the remaining 58.44% reflects residual factors outside the model such as institutional, geographical, and structural conditions. These findings suggest that improving education quality and expanding internet infrastructure can simultaneously boost economic growth and reduce income disparities, while addressing unemployment and poverty remains critical for equitable development in Lampung Province.

Abstract

Java Island is the center of national economic activity, contributing around 57 percent of Indonesia's total GRDP and accommodating 56.8 percent of the national labor force, or more than 86 million people, yet labor productivity across its provinces still shows significant disparity, with DKI Jakarta consistently outperforming the other provinces. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Provincial Minimum Wage, the Human Development Index (HDI), and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as a proxy for technology on labor productivity in six provinces of Java Island during the 2020–2024 period. The study uses a quantitative approach with panel data comprising 30 observations, combining five years of time-series data and cross-sectional data from six provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, DI Yogyakarta, East Java, and Banten. The estimation model was selected through the Chow Test and the Hausman Test, both of which indicated the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) as the best model, and all data were processed using EViews 13. The FEM estimation results show that Provincial Minimum Wage has a positive and significant effect on labor productivity. HDI has a negative and significant effect, indicating that improvements in human development quality have not been fully matched by competencies suited to labor market needs. Meanwhile, FDI has a positive and significant effect as a channel of technology transfer that improves production efficiency and labor productivity.

Abstract

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, regional governments in decentralized Indonesia face critical pressures to optimize limited public spending while accelerating socioeconomic recovery. This study evaluates the relative efficiency of regional fiscal management across 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2021 to 2025. Utilizing an output-oriented Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) under the Variable Returns to Scale (VRS) assumption, the framework maps five fiscal inputs (education, health, road, subsidy, and personnel expenditures) against three development outputs (Gross Regional Domestic Product, Human Development Index, and non-poor population percentage). The results reveal significant regional disparities, with the number of efficient provinces fluctuating between 11 and 14, culminating in 14 fully efficient provinces by 2025. While frontiers like DKI Jakarta and East Kalimantan consistently demonstrated optimal resource utilization, regions such as Papua, West Papua, and East Nusa Tenggara persistently exhibited the lowest efficiency scores. Furthermore, the Returns to Scale analysis indicates that most underperforming provinces operated under Increasing Returns to Scale (IRS), suggesting substantial latent potential to maximize developmental outcomes without expanding budget allocations. In conclusion, enhancing expenditure quality, targeting structural budget execution, and minimizing resource slack are imperative to bridge regional disparities and foster equitable national development.
