Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to determine the response of the household sector and industrial sector to electricity demand when there are changes in prices and income. The influence of price and income on electricity demand from both sectors can be seen through their elasticity. The approach used in this study is panel data from 33 provinces in Indonesia for the 2010-2020 time period. Panel data regression estimation techniques are used in this study to estimate the elasticity value. The results show that price elasticity in the household and industrial sectors is negative inelastic, but price does not significantly influence household electricity demand. Unlike price, income elasticity has a much higher value and positively and significantly influences electricity demand in both sectors. The number of customers, which reflects the increasing electrification ratio and population growth, significantly impacts electricity demand in the household and industrial sectors. Based on the results, it was found that the number of customers most influences electricity demand in the household sector. At the same time, income has the most significant influence on electricity demand in the industrial sector.

Abstract

Abstract

Lately, it is often found in the news about young children who commit acts of harassment against their peers. This is a sign that the level of religiosity in children today is relatively low. One of the reasons could be due to the indifference of parents towards children. So that children do not know the action is right or wrong in the eyes of society or religion. Even trivial bad behavior is sometimes still carried out among children and even teenagers to adults. The bad habits that have been done as children will be repeated when they grow up if their parents continue to ignore them. Therefore, the role of parents is needed to provide direction or guidance to children from early childhood to adolescence. The purpose of this study was to find out how indifferent parents influence the child's level of religiosity. Data collection techniques in this study used questionnaires distributed to respondents. The method of data analysis in this study is descriptive analysis to determine the frequency distribution of the findings of data from the field. The answers to the questionnaire are calculated using the percentage formula and then processed and analyzed descriptively to determine whether there is an influence of parents who are indifferent to children's religiosity. The results of this study are that parents are very influential in children's religiosity.

Abstract

Coal-fired power plants remain an important part of Indonesia’s electricity system because they provide large-scale and reliable baseload supply. However, the perceived low cost of coal-fired electricity is partly influenced by domestic coal pricing policy, particularly the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) scheme. This study aims to estimate and compare the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) of the Suralaya coal-fired power plant under two coal price scenarios: the DMO price and the market price. A quantitative case study approach was applied using 2024 operational and financial data. The LCOE was calculated using an annualized cost approach by combining annualized capital cost, operation and maintenance cost, and fuel cost, then dividing total annual cost by annual net electricity generation. The results show that the LCOE based on the DMO coal price is IDR 1,008.58/kWh, while the LCOE based on the market price is IDR 1,049.52/kWh. The use of market price increases the LCOE by IDR 40.94/kWh, or 4.06%, compared with the DMO scenario. These findings indicate that coal pricing assumptions affect the financial interpretation of coal-fired power generation costs. Therefore, generation cost assessment should clearly distinguish between actual financial cost under domestic pricing policy and economic cost based on market price.

Abstract

Indonesia’s electricity sector remains heavily dependent on coal-fired power plants (CFPPs), which play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability of the national electricity supply, particularly within the Java–Bali power system. However, this dependence also contributes significantly to environmental emissions and pollution. This study aims to measure and analyze the eco-efficiency of coal-fired power plants operated by PT X within the Java–Bali grid during the 2023–2025 period. The research employs a quantitative approach using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with the Slack-Based Measure (SBM) and Directional Distance Function (DDF) models. The input variables include fuel costs, maintenance costs, labor costs, and depreciation costs, while the outputs consist of electricity generation as the desirable output and SO?, NOx, and particulate emissions as undesirable outputs. The results indicate that most power plant units achieved relatively high eco-efficiency levels, with several Decision-Making Units (DMUs) reaching the efficiency frontier. JATIM 1 and JATIM 3 power plants demonstrated the highest and most consistent eco-efficiency performance, whereas JABAR and JATIM 2 exhibited greater fluctuations in efficiency. Slack analysis revealed that the primary sources of inefficiency were excessive input utilization and emission levels exceeding optimal benchmarks during certain operational periods. These findings suggest that improvements in eco-efficiency can be achieved through resource optimization, enhanced technical efficiency, strengthened emission control measures, and the implementation of energy transition strategies, such as biomass co-firing. This study provides valuable insights for industry practitioners and policymakers in promoting more efficient and sustainable power generation management.

Abstract

Background: Biomass co-firing is widely promoted as a low-cost transition strategy to reduce emissions from coal-fired power plants while maintaining the reliability of baseload electricity systems. However, its operational impact on plant efficiency remains insufficiently examined, particularly in developing countries where coal still dominates the energy mix. Objective: This study evaluates the efficiency–emission trade-off of biomass co-firing using monthly operational data from an Indonesian coal-fired power plant over the period 2021–2025. Methods: An Error Correction Model (ECM) is applied to analyze both short-run and long-run relationships among biomass co-firing ratio, thermal efficiency measured by Net Plant Heat Rate (NPHR), and emissions of particulate matter (PM), sulphur dioxide (SO₂), and nitrogen oxides (NOₓ). Results: The findings show that biomass co-firing significantly reduces SO₂ and PM emissions in the long run, confirming its environmental benefits. However, it also leads to a decline in thermal efficiency, indicated by an increase in NPHR as the co-firing ratio rises. In contrast, NOₓ emissions are not significantly affected, suggesting they are more influenced by combustion conditions than fuel substitution. Overall, the results highlight a clear trade-off between emission reduction and efficiency performance. Conclusion: The study concludes that although biomass co-firing supports decarbonization in coal-dependent power systems, its implementation should carefully balance environmental objectives with efficiency losses and operational reliability considerations.
