Abstract

Research on the effectiveness of panoramic room walls has been carried out in the Radiology Installation of Prof. Dr. MA Hanafiah SM Batusangkar. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the panoramic room walls in absorbing radiation emitted by panoramic aircraft, as well as knowing the safety level of the room around the panoramic inspection room in accordance with the dose limit values of workers and the general public. This type of research is a quantitative research by taking direct measurements. The research was conducted by measuring the radiation dose at six points of the panoramic room wall using a radiation measuring instrument, namely TLD-100. The results showed that the effectiveness of the walls was only able to absorb radiation less than 90%, with the shield category on the walls that was not good enough to withstand radiation. Therefore, it is necessary to renovate the panoramic room walls in accordance with safety standards.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang gambaran noise pada pemeriksaan CT-Scan Brain dengan klinis stroke non hemoragic menggunakan protokol fast stroke kemudian dibandingkan dengan menggunakan protokol head routine. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana penatalaksanaan CT-Scan brain dengan klinis stroke non hemoragic dan kualitas citra yang lebih bagus antara CT-Scan protokol fast stroke dengan protokol head routine. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Instalasi Radiologi Rumah Sakit Otak DR. Drs. M. Hatta Bukittinggi pada bulan Juni - Juli 2023. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan datanya menggunkana metode observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan terdiri dari 4 orang yaitu satu dokter spesialis radiologi dan tiga radiografer Menggunakan metode triangulasi data hasil penelitian menunjukkan pada pemeriksaan CT-Scan Brain dengan klinis stroke non hemoragic di Instalasi Radiologi Rumah Sakit Otak DR. Drs. M. Hatta Bukittinggi tidak memiliki persiapan khusus, hanya melepaskan barang-barang yang dapat dapat mengganggu gambaran seperti kalung, anting dan kacamata. Gambaran noise pada hasil citra menggunakan protokol fast stroke lebih banyak daripada menggunakan protocol head rutin karena pada fast protokol fast stroke slice thickness yang digunakan lebih tipis yaitu 1,25 mm. Gambaran citra CT-Scan Brain dengan menggunakan protokol fast stroke lebih bagus, walaupun memiliki banyak noise tetapi detail gambaran yang dihasilkan bagus. Sedangkan pada protokol head routine noise yang dihasilkan sedikit, tetapi gambaran lebih smooth sehingga mengurangi detail gambar yang dihasilkan. Jadi untuk pemeriksaan CT-Scan Brain dengan klinis stroke non hemoragic lebih bagus menggunakan protokol fast stroke, waktunya lebih cepat dan detail gambaran yang dihasilkan lebih bagus.

Abstract

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the malignant tumors of the head and neck that requires accurate imaging evaluation, with CT scanning being one of the primary modalities. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of CT-scan parameters for evaluating anatomical information in patients with clinically diagnosed nasopharyngeal carcinoma at the Radiology Department of RST Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang. The research employed observational methods and in-depth interviews with two radiographers and one radiologist, along with a review of patient CT images. Data were collected regarding patient preparation, examination technique, and the conformity of parameters with theoretical standards. The examination was performed with the patient in a supine head-first position, using a scan area from the MAE to the thoracic vertebrae III, slice thickness of 5 mm, window width of 350, and window level of 40. The results showed that although these parameters differ from theoretical recommendations—which suggest a 2.5-mm slice thickness and a more superior scan range—they were still able to visualize essential anatomical structures, including thickening of the nasopharyngeal roof, intracerebral extension, maxillary sinus opacity, parapharyngeal space, oropharynx, paranasal sinuses, orbital cavity, parotid glands, and mastoid air cells. The diagnostic information was considered sufficient to establish the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma; however, the radiologist recommended expanding the superior scan range to evaluate the temporal lobe and intracranial involvement when necessary. In conclusion, the CT-scan parameters used at RST Dr. Reksodiwiryo Padang are effective for assessing nasopharyngeal carcinoma, although further optimization remains advisable

Abstract

Contrast media are used in radiological diagnostic imaging to enhance the visibility of internal body structures. The storage of contrast media must adhere to temperature standards, specifically around 37°C, to maintain its quality. The use of inadequate storage equipment can lead to crystallization or a decrease in the function of the contrast media. This research aims to design and build an automatic contrast media storage device, test its functionality, and evaluate its performance based on applicable storage standards. This research uses an exploratory approach. The designed tool is in the shape of a square box, made of plywood with an aluminum coating on the outside and lead on the inside. The main elements include an electric heater, a digital thermostat for temperature control, and LED lights for illumination. Function tests are conducted using a checklist assessment, while performance tests are evaluated based on ease of use, safety, and effectiveness. The results of the functional test demonstrate that every part of the apparatus, including the temperature controller and heating element, functions effectively to keep the contrast media temperature at 37°C. The equipment is safe, efficient, and easy to use, according to the performance test findings. A > 80% feasibility level was attained in both experiments. The automatic contrast media storage device's design and construction were successful in preserving the contrast media's quality, boosting radiographers' productivity, and making it appropriate for use in medical facilities. However, in rooms with air conditioning, the device's effectiveness is subpar. To enhance the device's performance in different environmental circumstances, more development is required.
