Abstract

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a non-progressive neurological disorder characterized by impairments in movement and posture that may limit gross motor function in children. Physical therapy is an important component of CP rehabilitation, but its effectiveness may be influenced by therapy dosage, including duration, frequency, and intensity. This literature review aimed to identify and synthesize evidence on the role of physical therapy duration in gross motor function among children with CP, as reflected in changes on the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM). A literature search was conducted using databases with keywords related to CP, physical therapy, treatment duration, and gross motor function. Eligible studies were primary studies involving children with CP that reported the duration of physical therapy and assessed gross motor function using GMFM-66, GMFM-88, or related measures. The findings suggest that longer or continued therapy is associated with improved gross motor function, although responses are also influenced by frequency, intensity, total therapy dose, age, and baseline motor ability.

Abstract

Background: The global prevalence of stunting is 22.3%, while Indonesia's prevalence is 31%. The 2022 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) reported prevalences of 24.5% in West Nusa Tenggara and 34.03% in West Lombok. The high burden of stunting in the Labuapi Primary Health Center area highlights the need to assess postnatal determinants. Objective: To examine the association between postnatal factors and stunting among children aged 6-24 months in the Labuapi Primary Health Center area. Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study included 110 children aged 6–24 months selected by consecutive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and anthropometric measurements. Results: The prevalence of stunting was 20,0% (22 children). Bivariate analysis showed that early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) (p = 1,000), exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0,914), complementary feeding practices (p = 1,000), timely immunization (p = 0,495), complete immunization (p = 0,405), vitamin A supplementation (p = 0,727), recurrent acute respiratory infections (p = 0,189), recurrent diarrhea (p = 0,732), water and sanitation (p > 0,05) were not significant risk factors for stunting. Conclusion: None of the postnatal determinants evaluated were found to be significant risk factors for stunting.
