Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the effect of organic fertilizer formulations on the growth and yield of purple eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). Conducted at the Bhakti Bapak Emak Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, over three months (May–August 2024), the research used a Randomized Block Design with five treatments and four replications: T0 = NPK 2.57 g (control), T1 = NPK 2.57 g + 4 tons of granular organic fertilizer (50.2 g/ha), T2 = NPK 2.57 g + 4 tons of crumb organic fertilizer (50.2 g/ha), T3 = NPK 2.57 g + 6 tons of granular organic fertilizer (75.4 g/ha), and T4 = NPK 2.57 g + 6 tons of crumb organic fertilizer (75.4 g/ha). The results showed that granular and crumb organic fertilizers significantly improved growth and yield parameters. Significant differences were observed in plant height (35–42 days after planting, DAP), leaf count (42 DAP), fruit diameter, flowering age, fruit length, and fruit volume, with the best performance at T3 (6 tons granular).

Abstract

Abstract

This community service program aims to replicate the mixed cropping system as an innovation in land use development in the urban area of Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. With high pressure on land availability due to urbanization, the productive use of yard land is crucial to support local food security and community well-being. The program was implemented from May to June 2025, involving 10 locations in several sub-districts with various combinations of fast-growing vegetables and horticultural crops. The activity approach included land identification, outreach, technical training, planting implementation, and intensive mentoring. The results showed a significant increase in land productivity and active community participation in intercropping land management. Mixed cropping has proven effective in increasing crop diversification while maintaining micro-ecosystem balance by reducing the use of chemical pesticides. Despite constraints such as limited water supply and maintenance time, efficient irrigation solutions and time management can be an alternative. This model has the potential to be replicated in other urban areas with similar characteristics and can serve as a reference for developing spatial planning policies based on local food security. This activity contributes to community empowerment and sustainable development in urban areas.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve the quality and productivity of durian farming in the Jombang area through the implementation of crop improvement technology, especially the early grafting method. In this activity, Pondok Pesantren Bhakti Bapak Emak (BBE) Bareng acts as an institution that educates students and local farmers about this technology. Through intensive training, field practice, and ongoing mentoring, participants are given knowledge and skills in choosing the right variety, carrying out the grafting process, and caring for durian plants effectively. Apart from that, close collaboration between educational institutions, local governments, research institutions and farming communities is also the key to the success of this program. By focusing on improving durian characteristics, it is hoped that this program can improve the quality and productivity of the fruit, as well as empower local farmers by increasing income and skills. As a result, it is anticipated that the program will have a broad positive impact on local communities and agriculture in the region

Abstract

The study aims to inventory and analyse GHG Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) emissions to support regional action plans (RAP in the mitigation and adaptation of PI (climate change) in Situbondo Regency. It is hoped that the research output can be used by regional governments to implement mitigation and adaptation actions. The research area in Situbondo Regency was carried out for five months. The analysis method uses a remote sensing system through exploration of Sentinel- 5P satellite data for GHG NO2 gas numerical spatial data on a cloud-based digital platform, JavaScript Google Earth Engine (GEE) and Google Colaboratory Research (GColab) 2023, image digitization and outlasting in QGIS software. Research data is remote sensing data access to the NO2 gas datasets Sentinel_5P OFFL_ NO2 Offline, MOD 11A1.061_Terra LST, and EDG 1km. Statistical data analysis using SAS v.jmp and Genstat v.18. The results show that the highest NO2 density variable in 2017 was 0,66 – 2,12 g/m2, then decreased to 0,65 – 2,01 g/m2 in 2019 and to 0,63 – 1,94 g/m2 in 2021, with the highest NO2 density in the Banyuglugur sub-district. The highest range of LST variables in 2017 was 19 – 39 0C, then increased to 21 – 40 0C in 2019, and in 2021 decreased again to 18 – 38 0C. Regional variables The highest LST distribution in 2017 and 2019 was relatively the same in each sub-district, namely Situbondo, Panarukan, Panji, Kapongan and Jangkar. NO2 and LST density variables in 2017 and 2019 were lowly correlated (r = 0.55), but in 2021, they were not correlated.
