Abstract

The research aimed to determine the tolerance limit of soybean genotypes toward salinity stress, plant growth and physiological characteristics. It was conducted in green house, from April to August 2013. The study involved two activities.  The first activity for evaluating a salinity stress, consisted of four levels of soil salinity (EC): 0.9; 4; 7; 10 dS m-1 and eleven genotypes. The second one to obtain information about changes in physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean affected by salinity stress. The second activity concisted of two soil salinity levels (EC): 1.52 dS m-1 and 8.58 dS m-1. The results showed that at salinity 10 dS m-1, all varieties/genotypes were not able to survive until the age of 43 days after sowing (DAS). At salinity 4 dS m-1, total plant dry weight of most geno-types soybean decreased by 48.14%, while the salinity of 7 dS m-1 total plant dry weight of all soybean decreased by 64.89%. Concentration of K and Na in soybean leaves were higher than those in soybean root tissue. The content of K and Na in leaves and roots of most soybean genotypes increased as soil salinity increased from 1.52 to 8.58 dS m-1, except for genotype G11. Keywords: leaf chlorosis, necrosis, salinity tole-rant, soybean genotype

Abstract

Abstract

The empowerment activity was motivated by excessive use of inorganic fertilizers, chemical pesticides and herbicides in the process of vegetable cultivation and other agricultural commodities in the vegetable center of Bokor Village. The high cost of labor for weed control causes farmers to overuse herbicides. On the long period, chemical residues can endanger consumer?s health. The objectives of this service are: 1) Increasing awareness of farmers to cultivate vegetables that are safe for consumption with the principles of healthy farming; 2) Reducing damage to agricultural ecosystems due to unhealthy agricultural practices. Mentoring activities are carried out during May-September 2018, with a target of 20 participants. The methods of activities that carried out was a survey and discussion of the implementation of healthy farming with the Bokor Village farmer group; comparative study on the Brenjonk Organic Community, Trawas, Mojokerto; then followed by mentoring vegetable cultivation using biological agents in the study plot. From the results of the mentoring activity, it can be concluded: 1. It has provided knowledge and skills to farmers to implement healthy farming, 2. It has been running quite effectively by looking at the results of evaluations that are in line with the achievement targets.abstrakKegiatan pemberdayaan dimotivasi oleh penggunaan berlebihan pupuk anorganik, pestisida kimia dan herbisida dalam proses budidaya sayuran dan komoditas pertanian lainnya di pusat sayur di Desa Bokor.

Abstract

Sweet potato is the main food resources for human life besides that of rice. An experiment to find out the effect of weeding with two kinds of fertilizer on the growth of yield sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) was conducted at UB Agro Techno Park, Jatikerto, Kromengan, Malang, East Java, from April until to 2017. The experiment used a randomized block design with six treatments consisting of G1 (organic fertilizer + weeding 15 days after planting = DAP), G2 (inorganic fertilizer + weeding at 15 DAP), G3 (organic fertilizer + weeding at 15 and 30 DAP), G4 (inorganic fertilizer + weeding at 15 and 30 DAP), G5 ( organic fertilizer + weeding 15, 30 and 45 DAP), G6 (inorganic fertilizer + weeding at 15, 30 and 45 DAP) with three replications. The results showed that weeding three times (15, 30 and 45 DAP) significantly reduced the dry weight of weeds, improved the growth and yield of sweet potato with two kinds of fertilizers.

Abstract

Tomatoes are a horticultural commodity and the main priority to be developed in Indonesia. To improve the production of tomatoes, land expansion is needed. Managing marginal land to grow tomatoes can be an option. Marginal land such as saline land has the potential to be developed as an alternative. This research is aimed to investigate the effect of K fertilizer on the growth and yield of tomato plants at different levels of salinity. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse located in the rural area of Bendosari in Kediri, East Java, using factorial randomized block design. The first factor was NaCl concentration (0, 3000, 6000 and 9000 ppm) while the second factor was the dosage of ZK fertilizer (75, 150 and 225 kg/ha). The results Showed that salinity level reduced growth and yield of tomato while the dosage of ZK fertilizer did not affect. Salinity level on 3000 ppm reduced leaf area 20.35 %, shoot dry weight 27.18%, root dry weight 28 %, number of fruit 24.14 %, fruit weight per fruit 29.82 % and fruit weight per plant 12.42 %. However, salinity level on 6000 and 9000 ppm ware not significantly different at all variables except 6000 ppm in leaf area (reduced 37.06%) and 9000 ppm on the number of fruit (reduced 43.01%).
