Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the properties of bamboo strandboard (OSB) by comparing different board types and strand-lengths. Bamboo  strandboards with nominal dimensions of 37 mm by 37 mm by 12 mm and target density 0.65 g/cm3 were manufactured using moso bamboo (Pyllostachys pubescent Mezel) and MDI resin to produce two types of strandlength. Two types of strand length and MDI resin were used to produce three types of strandboard. The bending properties and dimensional stability of the strandboards were evaluated according to the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) for particleboard. The results of this experiment indicate that the bending properties and internal bond strength were affected by both board type and strand-length. The distribution of resin inside the 80 mm strandboard was less homogenous than in the 50 mm strandboard, which affects the internal bond strength. Thickness swelling of the RAND board was the highest and linear stability was affected substantially by strand alignment. The RAND board and cross-oriented 3LAY board effectively restrained linear expansion in the direction perpendicular to the strand alignment. A cross-oriented core may be the most effective way to reduce dimensional change and bending property values in perpendicular directions.

Abstract

Sustainable agriculture always utilises natural materials and avoids the use of synthetic materials in an effort to increase agricultural production, without damaging the environment. Understanding the meaning of sustainable agriculture to farmers is still not much done. Farmers of Cinanjung village, Tanjungsari sub-district, Sumedang Regency, are conventional horticultural farmers who mostly do not understand the concept of sustainable agriculture so that there are still many farmers who use synthetic fertilisers and synthetic pesticides in an effort to increase their production, without realising that it can harm the environment. The SITH ITB Community Service Team tried to provide an understanding of the importance of sustainable agriculture and training in the identification of plant pest organisms (OPT) and the production of biopesticides from surrounding plants, so that they could support the programme. The results of the Community Service Activities show that the existence of this community service programme is able to increase knowledge and understanding of sustainable agriculture and the skills of identification of plant pest organisms and biopesticide production skills from microbial resources and surrounding plants

Abstract

Pertanian berkelanjutan adalah kegiatan yang memanfaatkan bahan alam seperti biofertilizer dan pupuk organik dengan meminimalkan penggunaan pupuk sintetik, untuk menjaga kesuburan alami tanah dan menghasilkan panen tinggi tanpa merusak lingkungan. Para petani di Desa Cinanjung, Kecamatan Tanjungsari, Kabupaten Sumedang, dilatih membuat biofertilizer dan pupuk organik dari limbah pertanian untuk diaplikasikan pada tanaman sayuran di pekarangan mereka. Kegiatan ini didasarkan pada hasil survei kondisi desa Cinanjung serta permasalahan dan solusi yang mungkin diterapkan. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat setempat terbiasa menggunakan pupuk sintetik, padahal limbah pertanian dan rumah tangga memiliki potensi besar sebagai sumber daya untuk dijadikan pupuk hayati dan organik. Maka, ditetapkanlah kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan biofertilizer dan pupuk organik bagi petani Cinanjung yang tergabung dalam kelompok tani Nanjung Jaya. Pelatihan ini dihadiri sekitar 25 peserta dan dilakukan di balai pertemuan warga Desa Cinanjung. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang pentingnya biofertilizer dan pupuk organik dalam pertanian berkelanjutan serta peningkatan keterampilan dalam membuat biofertilizer dan pupuk organik dengan memanfaatkan sumber daya setempat. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini adalah bahwa kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan oleh Tim PPM dosen dan mahasiswa SITH ITB telah meningkatkan pemahaman tentang pentingnya pertanian berkelanjutan dengan memanfaatkan bahan-bahan alami. Upaya ini berhasil meningkatkan produksi tanpa menyebabkan kerusakan lingkungan bagi para petani di Desa Cinanjung, Kecamatan Tanjungsari, Kabupaten Sumedang.

Abstract

The scarcity of competitive resources poses a challenge for first-level health facilities in delivering health services, which can impact the quality of health promotion. This study aims to develop a health promotion model based on the Theory of Resource-Based Competitive Advantage, integrated with the value of religiosity. Through a literature study, this research found that humanist resources, unique resources, and the reconfiguration of technological resources integrated with religious values will have an impact on delivering excellent service, which leads to mastery of market positions. Competition between health facilities to provide mutual benefit to JKN Participants is not necessarily to seek world benefits alone. The support of the first-level health facilities will contribute to the sustainability of the JKN program.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Much baglog waste is produced as a by-product of oyster mushroom cultivation activities carried out by some farmers in Cinanggung village which has not been processed and utilized optimally, thus having a negative impact on the environment. The community service team from the Microbial Biotechnology scientific group, School of Biological Sciences and Technology (KK BM, SITH) Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) held a community service program in the form of training for the people of Cinanggung Village, Tanjungsari sub-district, Sumedang district, on how to process baglog waste into planting media. organic and renewable charcoal briquettes, and using them as a medium for growing vegetables in the home garden as an effort to increase food security in household capacity. There were 24 participants in this training, involving members of oyster mushroom farming groups and housewives. The training program is preceded by an understanding of the management of cultivated waste, followed by processing the waste into useful products. This training is a manifestation of the concern of SITH ITB lecturers for the residents of the villages around Mount Geulis. The processing of mushroom baglog waste into a plant growing medium and renewable energy in the form of charcoal briquettes is expected to improve the lives of the people of Cinanggung village through the use of plant growing media to support vegetable growing activities in polybags for the yard, at least to be used for family needs to support family food security. It is hoped that this program will make farmers more prosperous and make government programs related to community food security a success, starting from family food security. Abstract

Pelatihan teknologi pengolahan limbah organik di Desa Argo Mulyo dirancang untuk meningkatkan kapasitas masyarakat dalam mengubah limbah organik rumah tangga dan pertanian menjadi produk bernilai guna, seperti meta-enzyme, pupuk organik cair (POC), dan pupuk kompos. Metode pelatihan mencakup teknik fermentasi, penggunaan mikroorganisme efektif (EM4), serta pengomposan skala rumah tangga dengan bahan lokal yang mudah diperoleh. Pendekatan ini bertujuan mengurangi penggunaan pupuk anorganik dan meningkatkan kesuburan tanah secara berkelanjutan, sehingga mendukung ketahanan pangan di wilayah penyangga ibu kota Nusantara. Pelatihan turut didukung oleh pihak desa dan melibatkan partisipasi aktif petani, yang menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman dan praktik pengelolaan limbah organik yang ramah lingkungan serta produktif. Hasil pelatihan ketiga jenis pupuk berhasil diproduksi dengan kualitas yang baik menggunakan sumber daya hayati lokal (seperti limbah buah, sayuran, kotoran ternak, dan limbah daun pisang) yang sebelumnya kurang dimanfaatkan. Dengan adanya pelatihan ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam pengolahan limbah organik, mendukung peningkatan kualitas lahan dan produktivitas pertanian secara berkelanjutan, mengurangi dampak negatif limbah organik terhadap lingkungan, serta meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat desa melalui peningkatan produktivitas pertanian organik yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to implement the Sustainable Food House Area Model (SFHAM) as an effort to improve food security and community welfare in Cicadas Village, Cibeunying Kidul District, Bandung. The activity stages include site surveys and coordination with relevant parties, socialization of the SFHAM concept, and training in innovative farming techniques such as hydroponics, the Dutch Bucket System (DBS), and the Organic Tower Garden (OTG). The results of the activity demonstrate success in enhancing residents’ knowledge and skills in managing their yards as sustainable food sources, as well as their ability to independently produce healthy food. SFHAM has proven to be an effective approach for local food security in urban areas when supported by continuous mentoring and active community participation. Evaluation and monitoring indicate the need for continuous mentoring and adaptation of methods to local conditions to ensure the sustainability of the program. Thus, the implementation of SFHAM is expected to support local food security, improve family economics, and contribute to sustainable environmental management in urban areas.
