Abstract

Tanjung Bayang Beach tourist area is one of the marine tourist destinations in Makassar city that is visited on weekends. Tourist activities that can be done at Tanjung Bayang Beach are swimming, riding banana boats, and fishing. However, in carrying out tourism activities on Tanjung Bayang Beach, accidents often occur due to drowning of tourists due to neglect of personal safety when swimming with extreme wave conditions. Tourism managers are still ignorant of the safety aspects of tourists in marine tourism areas such as the fulfillment of disaster signs or potential accidents that lead to disaster for tourist visitors. Socialization of safe swimming area boundaries based on bathymetric conditions of Tanjung Bayang beach tourism area has been carried out. The socialization partners are Tanjung Bayang beach tourism managers, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) of Tanjung Merdeka. Knowledge transfer through this socialization activity improves partners understanding of the implementation of potentially catastrophic accident management in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1 of 1970 on Occupational Safety, and security and safety assurance at tourist attractions in accordance with Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 10 of 2009 on Tourism. Socialization participants gained an increase in knowledge and understanding of the material presented by 41%.

Abstract

Environmentally friendly technology in the welding process is a technology that can optimize energy consumption, reduce emissions of harmful gases and particles, and minimize waste and radiation hazards. Environmentally friendly technology in the welding process can also affect the welder's competence, namely the welder's ability to perform welding by applicable standards and specifications. This article aims to analyze the effect of electrode variations in the SMAW welding process on the mechanical properties of ASTM A36 steel. ASTM A36 steel is a type of low-carbon steel widely used in steel construction. The electrodes used in this study were E6010, E6013, E7016, and E7018. These electrodes have different chemical compositions and current characteristics. This study uses a quantitative and experimental approach with a 4x3 factorial design. The results showed that the environmentally friendly technology used in the welding process affected the environmental performance and competence of the welder. FSW is the leading green technology regarding environmental performance and welder competence compared to MPW, LAHW and GMAW. This article can provide useful information for welders who want to improve their competence and meet international standards in the field of welding.

Abstract

With so many pipelines being built, there is a big possibility that one pipeline will cross another pipeline. Crossing pipes between existing and new pipes can be avoided by creating new pipe routes. Building a new pipeline may cost additional money and time. If the new pipe route is determined to pass through the existing pipe route, then the risks posed must be analyzed because it will affect the existing pipe and the new pipe. In general, failures that occur in pipes are due to the design of pipe wall thickness, pipe stability design, pipe free span design, and pipe stress design when installed using pipelay vessels that are not safe and efficient. Pipe wall thickness design based on the DNV-OS F101 standard explains that the pipe design thickness must be sufficient to withstand working loads such as environmental loads and system pressure. Pipe stability design based on DNV-RP F109 and DNV-RP E305 explains that the pipe design must be in a stationary condition due to vertical and lateral loads. So, several of these references are used to design the crossing pipeline.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of 193 countries committed to the sustainable development goals (SDGs). In this new paradigm of sustainable Indonesian development, the maritime sector is a priority for future development with the concept of blue economy, which is a sustainable ocean economy that produces economic and social benefits with the assurance of long-term environmental sustainability. The focus of the blue economy with this maritime economic strategy makes coastal communities the centre of blue economy growth. Makassar City has a coastal tourism area located in Tanjung Merdeka Village, Tamalate District Makassar, and is managed community-based by Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) of Tanjung Merdeka. To maintain the sustainability process of coastal tourism area management, it is necessary to understand the concept of blue economy according to the maritime development strategy. Socialisation of the concept of blue economy in the development of coastal tourism areas in Makassar City has been carried out and achieved an increase in knowledge and understanding of participants by 50%. Understanding the concept of sustainable coastal and marine resource management, as well as how to participate in facing the challenges of environmental degradation and climate change, will complement the role of Tanjung Merdeka NGO as a tourism manager with the concept of blue economy. Assessment of the application of the concept of blue economy in coastal tourism areas has been carried out and fulfils the concept of blue economy according to Pauli's theory (2010).

Abstract

Makassar City is one of the cities with a coastal area located in its center. However, many people, especially young children, still do not understand the importance of the sea, marine technology, and its role in their lives. The low level of understanding is due to the lack of information provided about the ocean world and coastal engineering. Athirah 2 Islamic Elementary School, which is one of the partners in this community service, provides facilities for the Introduction to the Ocean World and Coastal Engineering activity. This community service activity aims to introduce the basic concepts of the ocean world and coastal engineering through a fun and interactive approach that is adapted to the age of elementary school students. This activity will be carried out in 6 sessions, namely Session 1: Opening, Introduction, and Pre-test; Session 2: Introduction to the Sea and Marine Engineering; Session 3: Simple Experiments; Session 4: Educational Games; Session 5: Reflection and Post-test; and Session 6: Closing and Documentation. After this activity is carried out, an initial awareness is formed in students about the importance of protecting the sea as part of a shared responsibility. The students were enthusiastic about learning about ocean engineering and coastal engineering, eager to learn about the ocean and coastal structures. The pre- and post-test results showed an increase in the students' understanding of ocean engineering and coastal engineering.
