Abstract

The current study aims to conduct a simulation that is useful in developing an appropriate design that addresses the problem of congestion in the Internet network through controlling the queue of the router. The simulation is conducted through the proposed model for simulation with different control systems that help in raising the quality of performance such as traditional Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) and advanced optimal by Flower Pollination Algorithm  (FPA). It depends for Transmission Control Protocol/ Active Queue Management( TCP/AQM )simulation model for a linear system and another non-linear system. To adjust the network work and raise the level of performance, different control systems were chosen, taking into account all the things that appear through conducting experiments and for different purposes. One of the most important things that must be taken into consideration is the system disturbances as a result of the volume and values of the data, causing congestion . It was shown through the results of the experiments that were conducted considering the cases of the linear and nonlinear system to pass data traffic in the network and by adopting the different techniques of the control units, the preference of optimizasion systems over the traditional ones, as well as the preference of the traditional over  without control in close loop, is the improvement of the performance of linear systems compared to the open and closed system without control. The simulation results showed that very clear the superiority of the optimization by FPA-PID controller over the conventional system (PID)  , as well as very clear the superiority of  the traditional system (PID)over closed system without control and open loop system.

Abstract

Electrical machines based on permanent magnet material excitations have been applied in many sectors since they are distinguished by their high torque-to-size ratio and offer high efficiency. Brushless permanent magnetic direct current (BLPMDC) motors are one type of these machines. They are preferable over conventional DC motors. one of the main challengings of the BLPMDC motor drives is the inherited feature of nonlinearity. Therefore, a conventional PID controller would not be an efficient choice for the speed control of such motors. The object of this paper is to design an efficient speed control for the BLPMDC motor. The proposed controller is based on the Fuzzy logic technique. MATLAB/ Simulink has been employed to design and test the drive system. Simulations were carried out for three cases, the first without a controller, the other using conventional control, and the third using expert systems. The results proved the possibility of improving the engine's working performance using the control systems. They also proved that the adoption of expert systems is better than the traditional nonlinear systems. The simulation response shows that the Rise Time(tr) at PID equals 66.306ms, while it equals 19.530ms for the Fuzzy logic controller. Moreover, Overshoot for PID and Fuzzy logic controller are 6.989% and 1.531%, respectively. On the other hand, undershoot is equal to 1.788% and 11.924% for PID and Fuzzy logic controller, respectively.

Abstract

Photovoltaics are one of the most important renewable energy sources to meet the increasing demand for energy. This led to the emergence of Microgrid s, which revealed a number of problems, the most important of which is managing and monitoring their operation, this research contributes mainly by using a maximum power tracking algorithm Which depends on artificial neurons and integrating it with a proposed algorithm for energy management in Standalone DC Microgrid, in order to control the distribution of power and maintain the DC bus voltage level.  Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm based on ANN+PID is used. Where ANN tracks the maximum power point by estimating the reference voltage using real-time data such as temperature and solar radiation. The PI controller reduces the error between the measured voltage and the reference voltage and makes the necessary adjustments in order to control the boost converter connected to the photovoltaic panels. While the process of controlling the DC bus voltage level is done by controlling the battery charging and discharging process through the power management algorithm and controlling the Bidirectional converter switches according to the battery’s state of charge. The simulation results obtained by used MATLAB Simulink are shown that the used MPPT algorithm achieved the maximum power with the least amount of fluctuation, the method's efficiency was 99.92%, and its accuracy was 99.85%, as well as the success of the power management algorithm controlling the battery charging/discharging process and maintaining the DC voltage level at the specified value in different operating scenarios.

Abstract

The current simulation is conducted in order to develop an appropriate design for the control systems and control the speed of the electric motor. To obtain the appropriate and required design, work is carried out for two cases, a constant speed and the other case at variable speed in different conditions for operation of dc servo motor, these conditions include rotating in a clockwise direction, break and returns rotating in the opposite clockwise direction. Through the proposed working conditions, it is possible to obtain the best values for the parameters of the control unit that improve the working performance of dc servo motor, which were shown by the simulation results and their values were kp =5, ki=3 and kd=5 for PID controller. Which changed the system response speed, rise time and the upper and lower bypass ratio at acceptable rates and ratios to prove an improvement procedure in the work of the electric motor.

Abstract

The current paper aims to explore the possibility of improving the performance of one of the important systems (boost DC-DC converter) in the field of electrical energy by contributing to the use of electronic power converters to provide the scheduled voltage to the loads with changing operating conditions using traditional (PID control) and expert (Neuro-fuzzy logic control) methods. Test cases are proposed to verify the possibility of improvement and the effectiveness of the system through approved measurement criteria such as improving stability, response time, efficiency, or a performance measure for overshoot and undershoot rates and rise time in addition to steady-state error through which comparison can be made to know the best between the methodology used to evaluate the performance of PID controllers and ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System). The current paper deals with a study of the operation of non-linear DC-DC Converters with a Neuro-Fuzzy Controller. To verify the system's effectiveness, proposed tests are conducted to simulate operation in real-time. The assumptions adopted are that the input voltage value is available from a direct current source with a voltage of (12) volts, and what is required to supply a load with a voltage ranging between (22-120) depending on the load change. The necessary calculations were made to calculate the converter parameters. The required inductance value was (160μH) and the capacitance value was (276μF). The simulation test was conducted using a model consisting of a resistive load and a step-up converter in addition to the supply source in both the open-loop and closed-loop system states. System tests were also conducted in the presence of the proposed controllers to verify the system's effectiveness.

Abstract

This research aims to propose a power management strategy (PMS) based on the flatness control method for a stand-alone DC microgrid system. The goal of the proposed strategy is to create an efficient PMS using nonlinear flatness theory in order to provide a constant DC bus voltage and the best possible power-sharing mechanism between the battery and the PV array. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique based on an artificial neural network (ANN) to optimize the PV's power. Moreover, the suggested PMS technique was tested in a simulation environment based on MATLAB®/Simulink. The obtained results demonstrate that the proposed PMS method can stabilize the bus voltage under variations in load or solar radiation. Additionally, the PMS method reduced bus voltage spikes and guaranteed good power quality, which extended the battery's lifespan and increased its efficiency. Also, the proposed approach outperforms the standard PI approach in terms of tracking efficiency and has a lower rate of overshoot in the bus voltage under different load scenarios. Therefore, the method is effective when compared with the classical PI approach. The overshoot in the PI method is 58 V, while the overshoot in the DC voltage is 5 V in the proposed method. The tracking speed of the proposed system is very low, and the slower speed was observed in the classical method, and the rise time of PI was 7.9ms, while the proposed method equals 2.2ms.

Abstract

Simulations were conducted to improve and design an appropriate control system and obtain a model with the required development to suit the operation of the engine with constant and variable loads, which are the proposed working conditions that are suitable for many applications. The current simulation aims to build and design a model for an electric motor (DC Servo motor) and a model for a conventional controller (PID). The proposed model addresses the cases of fixed and variable loads in terms of using the controller that improves the performance of the motor’s work for different conditions. Three cases were developed to conduct the proposed tests, which included the case of no-load, fixed and variable load. Tests were conducted. Without the console and for the purpose of comparison and observation of improvement, the test was conducted with the addition of the console. The results showed system performance may improve depending on usage using traditional control systems. Performance measurement criteria are adopted for the purpose of comparison and observation of performance improvement. The criteria that are adopted are rise time and stability (steady state) in addition to the ratio of the rate of under and over-shoot. Abstract

There is a growing interest in studying the single-phase induction motor due to its wide use in many applications, the most important of which are domestic and industrial. A simulation model is built by implementing and running the model using MATLAB to identify the system behavior of the induction motor. To study and analyze the system behavior in different cases, it is proposed to implement and run the model in two ways: the first without control techniques and the second using control techniques. Tests are conducted according to a methodology based on scenarios that include all expected cases that can be assumed to suit real-time operation. To evaluate control strategies, the clear effect between their use and non-use must be demonstrated through clear measurement criteria to include response speed and performance improvement. In induction motor tests, the focus is on electrical and mechanical quantities and the transient and steady state of the system, including a 220-volt supply voltage and a 50 Hz frequency. The initial test case refers to using the model to simulate three cases: the first without load, the second with a constant load of one newton meter, and the third operating the motor as a pump by changing the load according to the pumping quantity and linked to the motor output. After conducting these tests, the different simulation results can be indicated in terms of the change in electrical and mechanical quantities over time during the proposed operating period. The results showed the high starting current that may affect the motor, and the response time for the motor to operate at the rated speed can be considered. Therefore, this requires the use of techniques to improve performance and provide response speed with a gradual increase in the starting current to protect the motor from high starting current. Voltage and frequency control techniques, as well as voltage-to-frequency ratio and another technique representing the voltage source inverter, were used. The results indicate a clear improvement through the stability of the motor by operating with a short response time compared to other cases and the specified rotational speed and specified torque, which shows a relatively high-efficiency performance.
