Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the effect of poverty on migration by using the IFLS 2000 and 2007 data. The results of binary and multinomial logistic regressions on all adults, adults in urban areas, and adults in rural areas show that the poor are less likely to migrate than the non-poor except for the case of urban to urban migration, where the poor are more likely to migrate than the non-poor. The results for other economic characteristics such as total value of assets and land ownership for farming consistently show that better economic conditions lower the probability to migrate.

Abstract

The right to reproductive health is a part of the human rights regime that must be guaranteed by states. Provisions of women’s right to reproductive health in Indonesia are found separately in various legal instruments. However, the regulations are not comprehensive, vague, and gender-biased. Using human rights and feminist perspective, this article analyses the issues relating to women’s right to reproductive health in statutes and other legal instruments, as well as formulates a concept of revision of the law of women’s right to reproductive health. This article concludes that regulations regarding women’s right to reproductive health contain provisions that are vague and inconsistent with one another, are gender-biased, and are not human rights-based. The revision of regulations on the protection of women’s right to reproductive health can be conducted substantially and formally.

Abstract

Indonesia has ratified the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and guarantees freedom of religion or belief (FoR). However, violations of FoR in Indonesia remains occur after 2015. This paper analyses this issue using the concept of norms localization which assumes that the implementation of international norms is the main factor that affects Indonesia’s effort to implement the FoR. There is a gap between international norms, that is Article 18 of the ICCPR and the Indonesia’s positive law regulating FoR. In addition, the characteristics of religious demography and religious behaviour of Indonesian people affect the implementation of FoR. As a result, the implementation of the norms by local actors such as the National Commission of Human Rights (Komnas HAM) is diminished. This paper concludes that in implementing the norms the government interprets the social and political context at societal level. The government is oftently forced by certain groups so it could be the potential violator of the FoR regulations that has been agreed upon.

Abstract

Bananas are a type of climateric fruit that undergoes post-harvest ripening, so bananas are easily damaged and have a short shelf life. Kepok banana flour is one of the food diversification products that can increase add value of kepok bananas. The production of kepok banana flour produces brown flour, so the appearance of flour is less attractive. Research aimed to improve quality of kepok banana flour using citric acid. The experimental design used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments given were citric acid concentrations of 0%, 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6%, and 0.8%(w/v). The results obtained were whiteness index values of 75.07%-78.20%, water content of 3.05%-3.55%, reducing sugar of 0.03%-0.012%, color of 1.76-2.16, aroma of 2.00-2.80, and overalls of 2.68-2.92. Increase in the citric acid concentration may increase the reducing sugar, whiteness index, and water content kepok banana flour. The best treatment in the study was a concentration of 0.8% among others.

Abstract

This study examined the 2019 National Examination language scores of senior high school students in Jakarta and Lampung, Indonesia. National examinations are a cornerstone of Indonesia's education system, vital for assessing student competency and ensuring quality control. However, persistent regional disparities in these exam results are a known challenge. This research aimed to address a gap in the literature by directly comparing these language scores between the urban center of Jakarta and the more rural Lampung. The results revealed a significant performance gap, with Jakarta students consistently scoring higher. Factors such as resource availability, teacher quality, and socioeconomic status are discussed as potential contributors to this disparity. The study highlights the ongoing challenge of achieving educational equity in Indonesia and underscores the urgent need for targeted interventions to bridge these regional differences.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore how the role of animated video media can contribute to improving the quality of the learning process, especially in Natural Science (IPA) subjects at the elementary school level. Special emphasis is given to the effectiveness of this media in supporting students' understanding of scientific concepts. The learning process, which is still largely carried out using conventional methods, is considered less engaging and less motivating for students, so innovation is needed through the utilization of technology in accordance with the demands of the Society 5.0 Era. This research was conducted using a literature review approach, which involves gathering information from various reference sources such as books, scientific journals, articles, and reports of previous research findings. This step is taken to obtain a theoretical foundation and data relevant to the topic of study. The analysis results show that animated video media, which falls under the category of audiovisual media, is able to present abstract material in a more concrete way, attract attention, and improve students' understanding and interest in learning. Animated videos are effective in explaining difficult concepts, such as the human digestive process, because they provide visualization and audio simultaneously. Various studies also reveal that the use of technology-based interactive media can address the problems of Natural Science learning at the elementary school level in an enjoyable way, so that students get a pleasant learning experience, increase motivation, and encourage the development of critical thinking skills.
