In the early 20th century, the idea of modernity emerged and continued to evolve in the press, including Islamic press. Interestingly, as part of the expression of the Muslim movement, the concept of modernity was represented distinctively. This research aims to investigate the linguistic expression in the Islamic press and link it to the concept of modernity that emerged in the early 20th century. The approach employed in this research is qualitative, with a corpus linguistic method used to collect and interpret data. The data consists of eight newspapers published between 1915 and 1934: Oetoesan Islam, Sinar Islam, Insjaf, Sawoenggaling, Al Qisthaus, Mata-Hari, Lembaga Baroe, and Pewarta Arab. Findings from this research include, firstly, 25 words expressing modernity, such as: orang, bangsa, kaoem, golongan, pergerakan, kemadjoean, perhimpoenan, kemerdikaän, studieclub, merdeka, kemerdekaan, peladjaran, pengadjaran, sekolah, sekolahan, mempeladjari, kepandaian, beladjar, soerat, kabar, toelisan, hoeroef, membatja, menoelis dan penoelis which have a significant frequency. Secondly, based on the exploration of these words, four concepts of modernity are reflected in the early 20th-century Islamic press: (1) the idea of modern education as a path to progress; (2) the concept of nationalism and awareness in organising for independence; (3) the idea of economic welfare; and (4) the importance of literacy, newspapers, and criticism of Latinization.

Ahok's controversial statements on the Thousand Islands seem not only led to massive and repeated demonstrations, but also linguistic debates in the courtroom. This study aims to examine the arguments of linguists who give statements in the courtroom in response to Ahok's statement. As a qualitative study using discourse analysis as a method of analysis, this study uses a critical argumentation approach developed by Walton (2002 and 2006) to examine how the argument was constructed and evaluate the quality of the argument. The analysis in this study indicates that the opinion of linguists presented by public prosecutors is often inconsistent and not based on adequate linguistic evidence, not only inconsistent with other expert statements, but also with his own statement as a scientist. Conversely, the linguist presented by Ahok's counsel is more consistent and more able to present linguistic evidence more adequately.

This study discusses the application of existentialism philosophy to the Bulan Bujur Sangkar manuscript embraced by Iwan Simatupang and describes Iwan Simatupang's social background which proves the existence of an existentialist philosophy school. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with an expressive approach to represent the author's emotions and messages in his work. The object of this research is the script of the drama Bulan Bujur Squarer by Iwan Simatupang. The collection technique in this study is a literature study. For the technique of analyzing data, use the technique of watching and taking notes. The results of the discussion found that the philosophy of existentialism embraced by Iwan Simatupang in the Bulan Bujur Sangkar Manuscript was proven in intrinsic and extrinsic elements. It is evident in the analysis of Iwan Simatupang's existentialism which is reflected in the figure of the Parents. The ideology of the Old Man who has a free life of thought, has no boundaries like existentialism that upholds freedom of thought and action accompanied by responsibility.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk pengembangan integrasi keilmuan pada Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia (selanjutnya disingkat PBSI) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana bentuk pengembangan integrasi keilmuan pada Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta? Dalam praktik kependidikan di Indonesia sering kali terjadi dikotomi ilmu yang berimplikasi pada aspek-aspek pendidikan. Selain itu, saat ini juga marak terjadi dekadensi moral yang sangat memprihatinkan. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan pengintegrasian kembali ilmu umum dan ilmu keagamaan terutama pada jurusan umum. Peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data dokumentasi, wawancara, rekam, dan catat. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah desain penelitan pengembangan (research and development). Data dalam penelitian ini berupa dokumen Rencana Pembelajaran Semester (RPS) semua mata kuliah di Jurusan PBSI UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta yang telah disusun oleh para dosen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Jurusan PBSI UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta telah menerapkan dan mengembangkan integrasi keilmuan. Bentuk-bentuk integrasi keilmuan yang diterapkan termuat pada pengantar kuliah, Capaian Pembelajaran Lulusan (CPL), materi, bahan diskusi, pemanfaatan teknologi, dan ada yang sudah termuat di dalam silabus. Meskipun demikian, ada beberapa aspek keilmuan dan keislaman yang tidak terlihat pada beberapa mata kuliah.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk diskriminasi dalam novel Putri Cina; 2) mendeskripsikan implikasi pada novel Putri Cina mengenai diskriminasi yang dialami perempuan Cina terhadap pembelajaran bahasa dan sastra di SMA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik penelitian ini menggunakan analisis isi novel Putri Cina dan studi pustaka untuk mencari data yang berkaitan dengan objek penelitian. Penelitian ini mengacu pada bentuk-bentuk diskriminasi berdasarkan teori Mansour Fakih mengenai marginalisasi, subordinasi, streotip, dan kekerasan namun peneliti hanya membahas subordinasi, streotip, dan kekerasan. Hasil analisis menemukan bahwa pada novel tersebut terdapat bentuk diskriminasi subordinasi pada perempuan yaitu adanya anggapan bahwa perempuan itu irrasional atau emosional sehingga perempuan tidak bisa tampil memimpin, berakibat munculnya sikap yang menempatkan perempuan pada posisi yang tidak penting dalam memimpin atau mengambil keputusan. Pada streotip terdapat pelabelan atqau penandaan terhadap perempuan dalam keluarga maupun lingkungannya yang menyebabkan kerugian bagi perempuan. Kekerasan yang dialami perempuan Cina dapat dirasakan berupa penyiksaan, penindasan, pembunuhan, dan integritas mental psikologisnya. Dalam konteks pembelajaran di SMA, novel Putri Cina dapat dijadikan bahan ajar materi cerita sejarah/ novel.
