Abstract

This article will be concerned with verbal construction in BBDNP. The construction discussed about causatives verb formation. Causativation is related to valency changes of verb. The concept of valence referes to the number of argument  that a head may take, in this case the head is the predicate of a clause. Causativation can increase the valence of a verb. Causative processes involve affixes which will be attached on a particular verb. According to this article, affixes of valenecy changes are causative suffix {-ang} and causative suffix {-in}. Both of them mark the BBDNP base, such as a verb, an adjective, a precategorial even state verb. In other side, suffix {-a} can decrease valence of the verb. Di sisi lain, ditemukan pemarkah penurun valensi berupa sufiks pasif{-a}.

Abstract

This study investigates the depiction of characters in the narrative text Luh Ayu Manik – Tresna ring Alas through the application of transitivity processes within the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics. Utilizing a qualitative approach, the research analyzes various linguistic processes—including Material, Mental, Relational, Behavioral, and Verbal—to examine how these processes portray the main character and supporting characters. The findings reveal that Luh Ayu Manik is depicted as proactive and courageous through Material processes, introspective and empathetic through Mental processes, and responsible and caring through Relational processes. Her perseverance is emphasized through Behavioral processes, while her leadership is demonstrated through Verbal processes. Additionally, the analysis uncovers the complex roles of supporting characters such as Made Anjasmara and Ketut Suprabawa Kabinawa, who are portrayed as brave and strategic in their actions. Meanwhile, the antagonistic characters, the thieves, are depicted through destructive actions and complex emotional responses, highlighting their role as significant threats to the environment. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of character development and narrative dynamics, demonstrating the effectiveness of transitivity analysis in uncovering detailed character attributes and interactions.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Balinese language subjects still faces various conceptual and technical challenges that have not been fully resolved. This study aims to analyze in depth the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Balinese language learning. This study uses a mixed methods approach with a quantitative and qualitative descriptive design. The research subjects consisted of Balinese language teachers at the junior high school and high school levels who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and document analysis. Research instruments included teacher readiness questionnaires, interview guidelines, observation checklists, and data recording tools. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Balinese is classified as “fully implemented” with an implementation achievement ranging from 54.69% to 71.88%. The dimensions analyzed include policy understanding, learning objective formulation, lesson plan/teaching module development, learning implementation, and assessment. The main obstacles include internal constraints such as difficulties in formulating derivative learning objectives and changes in the learning paradigm, as well as external constraints such as limited learning resources and a lack of specific training. The solutions implemented include self-training, the formation of learning communities, and collaboration through MGMP. This study contributes to strengthening the implementation strategy of the Merdeka Curriculum, particularly in terms of culture-based local content.

Abstract

This study addresses the diminishing transmission of traditional ecological knowledge among younger generations by examining how children’s literature can preserve and revitalize indigenous eco-philosophies. Focusing on the Balinese narrative Luh Ayu Manik Mas Nglawan Luu Plastik, the research investigates how environmental values grounded in the Hindu cosmology of Tri Hita Karana emphasizing harmony with the divine (parhyangan), with others (pawongan), and with nature (palemahan) are discursively constructed. Using a qualitative-interpretative method with an ecolinguistic framework informed by Haugen’s (1972) ecological model of language, this study analyzes lexical choices, narrative patterns, and dialogic interactions across three dimensions: ideological, sociological, and biological. The findings reveal that the narrative integrates cultural, spiritual, and environmental elements to construct a holistic ecological discourse, portraying rituals and symbols as tools of eco-theological conservation. The story demonstrates how language encodes ecological ethics while promoting eco-literacy among young readers. These insights highlight the potential of children’s literature to support culturally rooted environmental education and inform curriculum development. The study underscores the importance of incorporating indigenous worldviews into contemporary ecological discourse through education, storytelling, and language.
