EFL learners majoring in English experience different reading histories which areinterested to be explored. It can be conducted through one of classroom activities in Extensive Reading. This article is based on the literature review for a study âExploring Personal Reading Histories for Learners of FKIP University of Riauâ. This article aims to describe how Exploring Personal Reading Histories is appropriate for the learners of FKIP University of Riau. Critical analysis was conducted in order to gain the aim of this study. The result of analysis shows how Exploring Personal Reading Histories is appropriate for Learners of FKIP University of Riau in terms of the context of Indonesian EFL learners and the activities of extensive reading for reading competency. The result of this review is expected to be meaningful for the study designed.

Television influences the use and understanding of Indonesian language. Disobedience and ignorance of rules of the language bring a negative impact for the language itself. Such condition encourages the writer to carry out a study on the implementation of Indonesian language rules on television. This study aims to find out language issues on televisions. The method used in the study is documentation. The approach used is the video or photo recording approach. The findings of the data analysis reveal that some mistakes regarding the language rules are found on the media. The mistakes deal with academic title writing, capitalization, the sequence of letters, misspelling, vocabulary, and cohesions. These mistakes can bring negative impact to viewers. Viewers may believe everything presented on television is in accordance with provisions of Indonesian language rules.Therefore, journalists are required to be careful in presenting a program on television.

Becoming interest in reading for EFL learners majoring in English is as the reflection of interaction with others in reading experiences. This article is a critical analysis of related theories for analyzing a study âThe Analysis of Reading Experiences based on Exploring Personal Reading Histories for Learners of FKIP University of Riauâ. This article aims to explore how Sociocultural theory is appropriate in analyzing the learnersâ experiences based on Exploring Personal Reading Histories for the learners of FKIP University of Riau. Critical analysis was conducted in this study. The result of analysis shows that Sociocultural theory is appropriate for learners of FKIP University of Riau in terms of reading experiences of Indonesian learners mediated by language, interact with others, and develop self-regulation in the process for reading competence and reading interest. The finding shows how the concept of mediation, practice, scaffolding, self-direction, and zone of proximal development in Sociocultural theory reflect on the learnersâ reading experiences. The result of the analysis is expected to be meaningful for the study designed.

Learners have different historical reading experiences which can be analyzed from any perspectives. This study aimed to explore “the reading experiences of two successful English study program learners of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Riau in Extensive Reading course based on Exploring Personal Reading Histories”. The suitable design in answering the research question of this study is a Case Study of the two successful learners in Extensive Reading course. Based on the result of the analysis of this study, it was found that reading experiences of English study program learners of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education University of Riau based on Exploring Personal Reading Histories is individual contexts (the facilities provided by parents and the involvement of teachers) reflecting on the process in becoming competent in each level. As a result, their experiences develop their interest to do activities of reading without instruction. It also indicates that this study contributes to reading theory, especially extensive reading relating with the other theories as well as pedagogy in teaching and learning Extensive Reading by implementing Exploring Personal Reading Histories at the beginning of the course. This finding contributes to theory of reading, especially extensive reading and to methodology in terms of the appropriate instruments and analysis for qualitative researches.
