Abstract

Putri Aisyiyah Orphanage Pucang Gading is an orphanage that houses orphaned girls. The environmental health problem at the orphanage is the large amount of garbage that has been piled up for days, causing an unpleasant odor because there are no garbage collectors willing to pick up trash at the orphanage. This is because the location of the orphanage is on the side of the main road towards Pucang Gading. The location of the building is also very close to a river where conditions are steep and against landslides. In addition, there is also no cost that can be allocated to pay a monthly garbage fee. A lot of organic waste, such as fruits and vegetables, is household waste that is generated at this orphanage every day. Based on this background, the PKM team plans to provide skills to the residents of the orphanage to make eco-enzyme. Fruit Peels for Utilization of Organic Waste at the Pucang Gading Putri Aisyiyah Orphanage. The program of activities that will be carried out includes education about the impact of accumulated waste on residents of the orphanage and residents around the orphanage, counseling on how to sort and utilize the waste around them, counseling and training on how to make eco-enzymes by utilizing waste organic matter around them. The results of the training show that there is an increase in the knowledge of the orphanage residents regarding the processing of fruit peel waste into eco-enzymes. Students' knowledge about eco-enzymes increases after socialization, this means that students understand and know how to use eco-enzymes. This is in line with previous research that one's knowledge can increase through listening, seeing, and direct practice.

Abstract

The demands of the development are increasingly advanced with the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, of course, requires teachers to be proficient in mastering teacher competencies, not least in the use of learning media. But in the learning process there is still a lack of learning media. In addition to the implementation of the 2013 curriculum, teachers are still limited in the preparation of administration and learning devices only. In the implementation of the learning process there are still many teachers who use the expository learning model. This is due to the low level of knowledge of SD Negeri Meteseh teachers in making innovations and learning media that implement scientific approaches. The low knowledge of teachers about learning media innovations has the effect of less motivated students in the learning process, especially 3-dimensional learning media. For this reason, the proposing team provided a solution in solving these problems, namely by planning a training program for the teachers of SD Negeri Meteseh in making Learning Media. Learning media in the form of Pop Up Book for elementary school teachers. The result of this activity is that most teachers have never received pop up book learning media training. The teachers gave a positive response to the activities carried out. Teacher creativity in making learning media in the form of pop-up books increases. With the pop-up book the teacher can provide real concepts in the form of 3D images to students at the elementary level. In addition, basic literacy especially in reading skills of elementary students also increases..

Abstract

Abstract: Children of Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia often learn in non-formal learning centres that operate with limited learning media and opportunities for culturally responsive literacy activities. This community service programme partnered with Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) to strengthen basic literacy and numeracy while nurturing cultural identity through interactive Pop-Up Books themed around Indonesian archipelagic culture. The programme was implemented in two days and involved 17 learners from Calistung and upper primary classes, assisted by teachers. Activities combined interactive read-aloud and storytelling, bilingual (Indonesian–English) storytelling practice, and guided hands-on workshops on creating simple Pop-Up mechanisms that can be reused as classroom media. Programme evaluation used descriptive observation, short reflection interviews, and product/performance review during reading and making sessions. Results indicate high learner engagement, increased participation in reading aloud, better recall of vocabulary and story content, and improved confidence in basic counting tasks embedded in the stories. Teachers reported gaining practical ideas for integrating Pop-Up media into their routine lessons. The programme concludes that Pop-Up book–based storytelling is feasible and attractive for learning centres abroad and can be scaled through continuous teacher mentoring and locally relevant story collections.
