Abstract

Tripneustes gratilla an important ecological role in various habitats because T. gratilla is directly or indirectly recycling key from the nutrients in the waters of Ambon Island. Ambon Island has a distinctive topography, thus causing inhibition of water exchange period naturally in Ambon Bay and feared to complicate the exchange of genes between populations thus causing inbreeding. In addition the increasing environmental pollution can narrow the habitat of Tripneustes gratilla. Therefore, this study aims to determine the spatial distribution and genetic diversity of sea urchins (Tripneustes gratilla) on Ambon island based on cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene. Alignment results showed the presence of genetic variation of T. gratilla on the Ambon island. This is shown in several polymorphic base where there has tranversi experience, transition, and insertion. COI gene sequence similarity values of T. gratilla on Ambon island is around 98.4 to 100%. Distribution of T. gratilla population found on Ambon island generally have a relatively small number of individuals. From four locations that just only one location have large enough number of individuals. However, the results of genetic analysis using COI gene showed the presence of genetic closeness between T. gratilla despite located in different locations.

Abstract

Abstract

Birds are an important component in an ecosystem. Birds can live in various types of habitats such as forests, grasslands and waters. For example, shorebirds are a type of bird whose life depends on coastal waters. The presence of shorebirds can be an indicator of the productivity of coastal waters. This research was conducted to inventory the species of birds in the coastal waters of the urban village of Ambon City. The results obtained as many as 10 species consisting of 7 families. The family with the highest number of individuals is Phalacrocoracidae (35%) while the proportion of species is fairly even (10-20%). The results of the analysis concluded a fairly good diversity and evenness index (H '= 1.99; E = 0.87) where there was no dominance of a particular species (D = 0.17).

Abstract

Coral reefs are a unique ecosystem in tropical waters that provide habitat for reef fish. The purpose of this study was to inventory the reef fish species of family Pomacentridae in Kasuari Island, Huamual Belakang District, Seram Bagian Barat Regency. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using the bell transect method. The results of this study found 16 species of 10 genera of reef fish from Pomacentridae family, namely Abudefduf sexfasciatus, Abudefduf vaigiensis, Amblygphidodon curacao, Amphiprion clarkii, Amphiprion melanotus, Chrysiptera rolandi, Chromis atripectroalis, Chromis viridis, Dascyllus aruanus, Dischistodus melanotus, Dischistodus perspicillatus, Neoglyphidodon melas, Plectroglyphidodon lacrymatus, Pomacentrus amboinensis, Pomacentrus auriventris, dan Pomacentrus philippinus. Keywords: Inventory; Reef fish; Pomacentridae; Kasuari Island

Abstract

Birds are an important component in a forest ecosystem. Birds play a role in pollination, seed dispersers, pest control, and even their droppings provide nutrients for the soil. After the earthquake in Ambon and surrounding areas in September 2019, many people fled to the forest. This research was conducted in Waai village to inventory the species of birds in the forest (HA) and forests that were converted into post-earthquake refuge (HP) using the list of bird species and natural sciences. The results show that 8 species of birds were found at the HA location while 3 species of birds were found at the HP location. The highest species abundance was Passer montanus at both locations. The lowest abundance value on HA is Todirhamphus chloris and Ducula bicolor, while on HP is Leptocoma aspasia. Diversity index analysis shows 1.67 index on HA and 0.86 on HP.

Abstract

Clove leaves are a local Maluku plant that can increase the work of lymphocytes which function to protect the body from antigen attacks that can damage the body. Clove leaf extract has the potential to increase macrophage activity. Macrophages are one of the cells that play an important role in the immune response of living things so that the body will be able to withstand attacks from outside which can interfere with bodily functions. Community service is carried out to foster and train community groups in processing clove leaves into a salable herbal tea. The goal is to improve consumer health and support the economic needs of partners. So that economic and social problems that often arise in the social life of community service partner groups can be eliminated. The results obtained are that several economic and social problems from partners can be resolved, including the availability of equipment that can support production activities. In addition, partners who do not have a job indirectly have the opportunity to open employment opportunities which of course can bring benefits, and partner members' habit of consuming alcohol is also slowly decreasing.
