Abstract

Abstract

Crude palm oil (CPO) loading operations at TUKS PT Sumber Kencana Inhu still occur spills that pose a threat to cargo safety and environmental pollution. In addition, the Shipshore Safety Checklist (SSCL) has not been implemented as a safety inspection guide before loading. The purpose of this study was to determine the causes of CPO spills and efforts to implement SSCL at TUKS PT Sumber Kencana Inhu to overcome the spills that occurred. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The data analysis technique uses fishbone analysis to identify the causes of spills and uses SWOT analysis to determine the strategic factors for SSCL implementation. The results of this study show that the factors causing CPO spills are human factors with a lack of coordination between the loading master and the chief officer, method factors with a lack of SOPs for checking loading facilities, and material factors with the nature of CPO which is easy to experience a decrease in temperature. In overcoming these spills, it can be done by improving coordination between the loading master and chief officer, implementing detailed loading facility inspection standards, and creating loading procedures. This can be overcome by maximising strengths and taking advantage of opportunities from the implementation of SSCL. The implementation of SSCL can be done by applying the indicators contained in SSCL into the loading operation SOP and translating SSCL into Bahasa Indonesia.

Abstract

Freight forwarding plays a strategic role in supporting global logistics efficiency, particularly in addressing the challenges of cross-border goods distribution. This socialization activity aims to raise awareness among the academic community of AKMI Suaka Bahari Cirebon regarding the importance of freight forwarding in international logistics processes and its contribution to the smooth operation of global supply chains. The methods used included interactive counseling, material presentations, and group discussions involving students from relevant study programs. The results of the activity indicated an increased understanding among participants of the core functions of freight forwarders, such as handling export-import documentation, managing transportation modes, and optimizing both cost and time in goods distribution. This initiative is expected to enhance students’ logistics competencies and strengthen the synergy between educational institutions and the needs of the global logistics industry. Abstract

The role of the river as a site for riverine activities has a huge impact on the economic sustainability of the community and the riverine ecosystem. The Silugonggo River is the only river in Pati Regency that is a very densely populated shipping route. This research was conducted along the Silugonggo River from the Juwana Bridge to the estuary. The purpose of this study was to determine ship activity in the Silugonggo River, determine the feasibility of facilities at Juwana Port and analyze environmental conditions along the Silugonggo River. The method used is a qualitative method with observation techniques and laboratory analysis, which is carried out by observing and recording conditions in the field systematically using primary data in the form of water conditions and secondary data in the form of ship activity and construction data. The results showed that the activities in the port of Juwana include mooring, loading and unloading of goods, ship repair and refuelling of ships. The level of water pollution in the Silugonggo River at 5 sampling points shows that the oil content in the water for points 1, 3, 4 and 5 is still considered safe because it is below the quality standard, but the oil content at point 2 has a very high value from the set quality standard which is 20 mg/L. The pollution that occurs is caused by shipping activities that dump waste into the water and fuel filling activities. Keywords:marine polutionportriverwater qualityoil spill

Abstract

Coal cargo fire during the loading process is very dangerous and detrimental to various parties involved. In Indonesia, one of the incidents of coal cargo fire occurred during the loading process of MV TAI SPRING located in Muara Jawa, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan, causing delays in scheduled loading and causing losses to several parties involved. The research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method with primary and secondary data collection through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman technique, then supplemented with the Fishbone technique and data validity by triangulation. The results of the study showed that the fire in the cargo was caused by the cargo owner who during loading on the MV TAI SPRING had not implemented periodic cargo temperature checks, environmental conditions that had weather according to tropical conditions were balanced by open coal loading conditions that allowed the cargo to be exposed to direct sunlight. The impact of loading delays due to fires in the cargo includes delays in the loading process due to efforts to extinguish the fire, additional costs to the PBM, delays in processing administrative documents due to late loading, and additional logistics costs for large vessels. Therefore, efforts to extinguish fires in the cargo are necessary by using a bulldozer to cool down the cargo.
